I did this mod a couple years ago. Recently I noticed coolant seeping from around the new fitting, not from the hose. I pulled the fitting and the o ring was crumbling. So, if you do this project get yourself a high quality o ring for the new fitting. The one it comes with is garbage.
@@reem46490 It ws a couple years ago. I took the fitting off the hose and went to NAPA. Ask what was their best quality o ring, found the right size, and re installed. It's still dry.
It was an aftermarket hose that I changed quite a while before I needed to add the aluminum fitting to replace the rotting plastic one. I re used the hose that was on there.
Great video. Thanks for showing the top and bottom of the hose removal process. You replaced it with Rein but it has a plastic black flange? I saw on Amazon CHC0609 Coolant Hose Metal Connector it is made out of metal. It can also be found at O-Reilly.
I got 2007 335i and absolutely have no room to put this hose back… I can’t even see a thermostat hose connector from above. Any advice how to install it back? I spent entire day and no luck…
@@IzzyE9X yep, I tried that too. I just couldn’t figure out which direction to insert the end of this 90 degree hose at the bottom. All the way left or it’s better to squeeze the hose in between other hoses in that area? I barely can touch thermostat connector by hand. I’m thinking about disconnecting all the hoses from the thermostat and with more available space put everything back in reverse…
quick question. In many of these videos, people say disconnecting and reconnecting the hose to the thermostat is the hardest part. would it be easier if I jacked the car up and did it from the bottom?
It’s very hard to pull the hose off the thermostat, especially if you haven’t replaced the thermostat before. If you come from the top, what I found best is to hold the thermostat with your left hand and then pull the hose with your right hand. you could come from underneath but I’m not sure how much it would help
not a ton, probably a few cups worth but nothing crazy. I’d recommend draining and filling with new coolant regardless though, I did a coolant flush a few days before making this video and don’t want to be bothered doing it again
I seem to be having a problem reconnecting the hose to the thermostat the o-ring seems to squeeze out and I ordered a new one and still having the same issue what could I be doing wrong
Replaced this hose as part of a cooling system overhaul less than 2 years ago(less than 15k miles), and just realized it's leaking from the engine attachment(no the oil filter housing is not leaking on it), looks like the mickey mouse/plastic piece is no longer flush toward the bottom. Any advice on what to do? Will it likely need to be replaced completely or is there a way to salvage the existing part. Any advice or tips for next time is appreciated!
If its the Mickey Mouse flange leaking, you can remove the plastic one and upgrade it to a metal one like this: bavmods.com/products/bmw-aluminum-cylinder-head-coolant-hose-fitting?_pos=1&_psq=hose&_ss=e&_v=1.0
Quick little tip, keep the hose clip fully seated while installing you’ll hear a nice click when it’s in
Thank you for this video; very simple, yet, straight to the point

Bro I was just looking for that answer thank you. I was so struggling to put it on so I opened youtube. Hero
What o-ring did you replace it with?

@@davemoll1151 you get OEM or aftermarket hose?

Happened to drop a bolt and lose it. Would a M6x25 bolt with washer do or would you recommend I buy the oem? Just trying to find one atm.
Same what did you get?

you can jack the car up and come from the bottom, but please use jack stands and be safe.

You didn’t drain the coolant beforehand? How much coolant did you lose when removing the hose?

is this in the same location for the 335i? removed the expansion tank and I couldn't see the hose anywhere
The same location, but on the 335i it's obstructed by the turbochargers so you can't really install it from the top.
I need this video!!! Good looking
Does this strategy work on the n54?? Help pleaase
I just need the part name not the hose
Its called a n52 coolant flange
I seem to be having a problem reconnecting the hose to the thermostat the o-ring seems to squeeze out and I ordered a new one and still having the same issue what could I be doing wrong
Same here

Aluminum one is definitely worth the investment
3:28 to 3:33 , that’s the most important part which you missed.
Keep making videos 🙌
Good video; only wish your vehicle had turbos, because they block everything.
Who ever installed it orginally came from underneath. The clap screw is facing down...
What Did You End Up Doing To Get It Off?
Great vid
Best video
Mine just blew apart at 167,000 and the upper radiator hose blew off at 155,000. The plastic is shot.

Easy out Extractor it’s going to be a bitch I’m sure you already did this I had this happen on my valve cover.
