As a hip hop head since the 80’s i can say that it was the skating community that took Vans to the next level. When i saw skaters in Vans in the 80’s, 90’s, and 2000’s I wanted to wear them.
Not entirely true , I used to skate back than . Back than skate /surfing and rock an toll went hand in hand , so it was a white thing . not until hip pop got involve that I saw mass adoption in fact I remember that how got involved in hip pop . Definitely the hip pop urban culture Had big hand
NPR's "How I Built This" Podcast has an awesome episode interviewing the Vans founder where he details how he started Vans. It's a great podcast overall if you're interested in the origin stories behind iconic companies!
Inspired to buy their slip-ons I used to wear during high school!
Hip hop helped a lot of industries
That's why they say music holds the power to influence society
That's why I hung my vans up once the mainstream sucked them up. Peeps running around with thrasher shirts and vans never having touched a board or a bike in their lives.
I was riding my GT BMX everyday wearing in Vans shoes in 1984 California... old good time : Bob Haro, Eddie Fiola, Greg Hill, Brian Patterson... :)
Vans are the ish. Comfortable, stylish and sole so big that it can be a rainstorm but your feet still remain dry as desert.
Incredible person reading this, you have everything there is to succeed in life, whatever that is for you. Go after the life you truly want NOW! ✨

Investing in crypto now should be in every wise individuals list. In some months time you'll be ecstatic with the decision you made today
Due to the fall in the stock market, I don't think it's advisable holding, it would be more beneficial and yield more profit if you actually trade on crypto currency I've been trading since the dip, and I've made so much profit trading
The reality of the rich and the poor is this: the rich invest their money and spend what is left. The poor spend their money and invest what is left
How does this whole process works, I'm interested in investing but still confused by the fluctuations in price
I never liked the chunky shoes or the high top Air Jordans.
Vans are simple and lightweight but also last a long time :)
It's more into punk rock than hip hop
I agree, it was more punk & metal , didn't really start hearing hip hop in skateboarding until recent years, maybe early - mid 2000's - now
Vans make her dance
yah but GBRS made vans tacticool
The Pack saved Vans and they wouldnt even endorse or acknowledge their impact. I didnt know what vans were until i heard this song and walked into my first store because of it
Hip hop is a trillion dollars industry

Another brand that the black community has made popular without being gave credit.
