Mink oil will darken your leather. I'd use the grease as a last step. Clean with saddle soap, condition with the liquid and add shoe greese or a wax polish. Please note - the mink oil here is shoe greese. There is a liquid that may be more appropriate and if you don't want to change the color of the boots Bick 4 is a passable consitioner with no change. Other conditioners - Sahhir Renevator, Chamberlin's Leather Milk and Venetian shoe creme all are great products.
I tried using the mink oil in the same method and my iron rangers went from nice brown/orange/red to a solid brown. How come the mink oil didn't darken the boots?
I bought a pair of the non-mock toed Irish setters today, I haven’t bought Red Wings in 20 years the last product I used to protect them was mink oil. The guy at the store today told me to get the natural seal that red wing makes, it comes in nail polish style bottle but bigger and he said I’m basically supposed to paint the boat. Should I use this spray or old-school mink oil what’s the best for me?
I personally avoid mink oil. I think it softens the leather TOO much. As far as the RE liquid cleanser, I prefer using saddle soap (made to a sudsy & frothy consistency) to clean my boots.

Ok I enjoyed this vid. I want to clean and preserve my own Red Wings. Looks like I need a few things. Thank you.
