Nice to see a different setup, so you guys get almost no milk production from silage? When they start kalving they start eating gras in pasture? The silage pile looks realy nice!
Any problems with cows getting to fat on ad lib first cut silage..did your silage test good.ive cows on 2 and 3 Rd cut haulage.thought alot of cows in to good nick.silage tested good this year hence well conditioned cows
@@MCMilkingIt that’s quick alright I watch a lot of farming videos and they haven’t as many cows as your selfs and most of them use wagons tho there is some that do the same as you is it what ever suits the farm was just wondering
Some machinery dealers/manufacturers if they are watching should throw ye in a demo wagon. That’s cat watching that. You’ll have that jcb worn out in a few years at that craic. You will probably find there’s less wear and tear on gear, less diesel used, probably quicker and safer no risk of catching a cows head with the grab with a feeder wagon
I'm not sure if I could feed 450 cows in 1hr 15mins a day with a wagon. And I'd imagine the tractor would end up burning more diesel than what would be saved on the digger.
@@MCMilkingIt I know of a man feeding 300 finishing cattle with a keenan 100 he was loading and pulling it with a massey 390 at the time it took him 30 mins to feed them when I saw him at it
@@MCMilkingIt I worked on a 300 cow+ follower high input high output farm years ago 5 different mixes keenan 140 feeder the milking cows took 2 different mixes high yielders and low yeilders 45 mins fed them dry cows and antibiotic cows 2 different mixes 20 mins and young stock 1 mix took 10 mins
@@MCMilkingIt is a good job, I feed with the skidsteer, we do around the same put feed out for 2,3 days, it's handy and saves time for getting other jobs done

Well it's a mix of first and second cut. Didn't get it tested but it's not as good this year. They seem to be doing ok

Would you ever consider a diet feeder

I think having a Jcb on a farm is shocking handy. It has so many uses. How long does it take to feed the rest of the cows,the ones inside?
Would take about 45 or 50mins to feed the lower yard if it was full. So 45 mins per area really
