Decor changes over time as does the style of clothing, jewelry, cars, etc. It was a decoration from a different era than the current one. If she felt good there, that's what matters. Style is a person's state of mind. Everyone does what they want and lives as they want. Soon they will change the styles again and what we like will be outdated

Indeed your correct, the host & RE agent mention staircase many times without stating, "oh this is the spot where she fell and died"!! I could not get that thought out if my mind as bet many do watching this...regardless of taste vs gaudyness in some areas, many would desire to change up areas to make it ones own. Overall ir seems quite narrow mansion, even with 6 levels...that elevator looks like for 2 people only! Wish she used it vs falling down the staircase! This must be a factor in anyone thinking of living there with that ghostly effect!!

I never believed Ivana tripped and fell down the staircase. She took the elevator as she had lots of pain just walking. Her death is tragic on so many levels. Ivana, you were loved by all who knew you and admired by many from afar. RIP beautiful Ivana!

Her place is so beautiful, but not fitted for someone who is handicapped like she was at the end. With her walking being that bad, she needed someone to live with her and help her and also she needed to use the elevator. She needed handrails added to the inside of the elevator to prevent her from falling while she was in there. Terrible that she lived alone and was still using the stairway with her walking being that bad. Life is precious, you have to make changes if you want to stay here. Every age stage (young, middle aged, older) is unique and different. We change and need help and physical aids with older age.

@@harshanid3636 I was talking about, at the end of her life in her early 70's. Her hips were in crisis and she needed doctor or surgery, but didn't get it and that's how she died. Her hips went out and she fell on her steps and I guess expired on the floor because she lived alone. I wasn't talking about when she was a teen or in her early 20's.
Yes she had a problem walking and was alone in the world, she was cheap refused to have a live in housekeeper, her kids couldn’t care less, she was always looking for lovers, old woman, with a want for young men,shameful.

That realtor was really working hard for his commission… almost made me believe the decor was “timeless” as how he described that hideous bathroom! A Russian or Middle Eastern buyer is perfect for this. There are so many NYC townhomes that still have this 80s- gaudy excess style. Its bot my style but I adore it knowing who this home belonged too. Joan Rivers style was close to this as well.

There are certain I wouldn't want my pets going with and not because I don't necessarily trust that person but it may not be in the best interest of the animal overall.
That particular matter is something I would put a lot of thought into and special consideration when it comes down to it and I personally have thought a great deal about just that before.

Ivana was a big deal in the 80s and 90s...she was a major socialite, really sad that she passed. Her mansion is a bit gaudy though, everything is so bright ...but i still love her!
I used to go to park hotel in New York for afternoon tea in the 80th. I luved the atmosphere Ivana decorated. I met Anthony Quinn there one time when I was dating a very wealthy Hungarian American older gentleman named Michael Gordon. Unfortunately now the park hotel is overly crowded with all the merchandise and no trace of Ivana's glamorous taste. I used also really love to hangout at the Trump Plaza which has the gorgeous indoor waterfall in the 80th. I also went to her ex husband's hotel in D.C. when my current boyfriend attended one of the white house press briefing by Sean Spicer in 2017. The hotel converted from an old abandoned post office was gorgeous as well but with more modern ambiance.
Baroque, Trump, Opulence at it's best. I also appreciate over-the-top elegance in my own home, with ornate furnishings, and a fabulous, vintage 1976 Lincoln Town Car, with a plush emerald green, crushed velour, interior. Some of us love the decadent, grandiose style of the 70s and 80s.

public record shows IVana bought her townhouse in 1992, so three decades ago, i would agree the interior decor showcase what was consider premium and classy at the time. I do believe majority of the house is likely original when it was built in 1879. I have been into many many new york townhouses but i'd say vast majority of them have interior renovated sometime in the 60s - 90s. Only a very small % of them actually looks modernized in today's standard. End of the days theses houses cost millions even in the 80s, and tens of millions today, it's unlikely a person under 60 yrs can afford them, back then or now.
It’s a lovely home. And I’m sure the next owner will enjoy it as much as Ivanna did, God rest her soul.❤

It’s lovely…very chic and elegant, but too many “Old World” design elements for me.
That bathroom with all the crystal and what looked like alabaster was just too much for my taste.
I guess I’m not from money, but I prefer more earth tones and neutrals in my home with color coming from the art work or decor.
Also, I know this is some high end real estate broker, but I’m really put off by his hint of snooty attitude as he gave the tour.

From what I've read, he lives in the house with one of her assistants who is still managing the home. That is until it's sold.
That purchase price plus the amount of money it's going to take to completely do a gut renovation. The new owner is going to have to have some deep pockets.

Agreed for today's way of living it is gaudy! The red parlor remind me of movies about "madams", some rooms, her bedroom was old fashioned but not as gaudy (in my opinion). When you buy a property this personalized of this caliber that is stuck in the 90's it is rarely a turnkey property. You are obviously clueless about high end real estate but people with a lot of money usually bring their team of architects, contractors and designers to modernize it with the latest features and make it to their taste. While most potential buyers will also choose in their renovation to incorporate a good part if not all of the original architectural details of that period of when it was built, rarely does the present decor and finishes (what you refer to as taste) will remain when completed for the new owner of this trophy property.
They should keep it and open as museum. No one will ever keep it same way. It’s reminding me the Graceland .

The only thing I’d want, that adorable Yorkie, Tiger. It must be so upsetting for that cute boy. I’m surprised he wasn’t in his new home. I’ve had 4 Yorkies, 2 boys, and 2 girls. They all have their own personalities, and he looks so sweet

Years ago there was a program on tv with Ivanna giving a tour of her yacht that was sitting in the Mediterranean. It was one of the most beautifully decorated yachts I have ever seen. It was tasteful and had a subdued elegance about it that her husband Donnie would never understand since he likes over the top decorating that says look at me. Look at what I have.

This house is absolutely ugly. In 8000 sq. ft. they couldn’t find room to put in a decent size kitchen? The price tag is insane.
The kitchen is a servants kitchen.

Her design is totally elegant and truly beautiful. But I prefer the modern home with modern designs- more lines and verticals, glass windows and less of red, curves and gold.
That place is hideous.
It's a magnificent house, but it it needs half or more of her "touches" removed to be considered chic. There are some very chic spots in the home, but it really looks to me like the middle class version of struck it big. Big time potential for someone with the cash to do it right. Godspeed Ivanna

It didn't look like any of them took the time to appreciate the place that their ex-wife/mom spent so much of her time. It really reads disingenuous and scary. With the amount of money that family has access to, you'd think they'd keep this place around in her spirit for at least a little while. And why has none of her children taken her dog? What happens to him after the house is sold? Very sad situation all around 😢
