are you team clear gesso ??? 😅
Absolutely
@@julieb737 I haven’t used gessos
Yes because of you!! I have been a matte mid lodge user for years and there is NO comparison at all. Give me clear gesso always from now on. I mean I still will use MP when called for, but you have opened my eyes to so many new ways of doing things Marta and I’m already on my second jar of clear gesso now as I play with watercolors and your beautiful collage books!! Today I just got the synthetic squirrel hair watercolor brushes and OMG! It really does require the right products to get certain results. I’ve never had brushes like these and I’m so in love with them. I’m using the clear gesso you recommended by Dina Wakely at Ranger and it is really just amazing. I accident did the test you are doing in this video because I was so excited when my brushes came that I rushed to try them and the images I was trying to shade had no gesso and I could tell right away there was a problem and then remembered I hadn’t gessoed those areas yet. So yes I am definitely team clear gesso!! ❤🙏🏼
I have clear, white and black gesso. I think they’re all useful.

Wow clear gesso is a winner . Thank you
It really is!
I love gesso.. I like to apply the paint with an angled brush. I dip the tip in paint/ inktense, and pull it around the objject, or whatever. It gives a nice gradient effect
I'm glad you did this test, Marta. I just bought gesso for the 1st time. I'm in the learning stages with you as my teacher. I can see the importance of clear gesso but I also bought white gesso too for some of your other projects. I think you are right . Gesso is a needed supply. Thank you for showing this. ❤️❤️❤️
Would love to see a flip through of the Fairies in Bloom 😊
They're sweet. I'm making cards with them now.
This video is up next ❤ in just a few more days 🩷
They are fabulous!! I’m loving them so much! ♥️
I love gesso. I always have. Its great on wood, cardboard, paper - I even use it in coloring books
Great demo as always, Marta! I use white, black and clear gesso (for various purposes). I’ve seen some TH-camrs use mod pudge in journals and the facing pages would stick together even after it’s dry.
I will have mod podge and gesso comparison soon 🔜
I've used powder and corn starch to keep pages from sticking.
I've been using clear Gesso since I discovered you Marta! Thank you! 😊
Oh Maremi so good to see you been busy as my mom got sick. Hope your husband and girls are good miss you. Nice share as always thank you 😊
Yes, Marta, I am team clear gesso! Thank you for that comparison! Very helpful!
Glad it was helpful!🩷
Thank you for this Marta! I just got my clear gesso in when I watched you use it for coloring those beautiful fairies,❤❤❤
Great video for those of us who make our collage images in junk journals which are seldom made from watercolor paper!! Thank you!
It's definitely a must. Thanks for another great video.
Yes please more of these videos, they are very helpful
I am TOTALLY clear gesso. I use this one the most!
and for much more than covering a page or canvas. i clear gesso the bottoms of cabashans so i can paint them colors. I clear gesso over pages that ive decoupaged w glue or mat medium so i can use lindys or distress. The list is endless!!!
Your images are so beautiful! I am so in love with all these beautiful books!❤️❤️ I hope you have a wonderful vacation in Poland! ❤️
Clear Gesso is a great supply !
I want to give my thoughs re. Mod Podge which I know quite well : it"s a great glue and you can put it over your collages if you DON'T HAVE TO COLORING on top of it because it"s a sealer and finish layer (like varnish) even if you take the super mat version !!! It's great to put it over a project at the END of your work in order to protect everything especially when it's a gift, etc ...
A great substitude to the clear gesso is MATTE MEDIUM from Liquitex, in the range of fluid mediums (the green collection), it's not very expensive and you can have large bottles.
Thkx for all your nice video's and positive vibes 🥰

Mil gracias 😊🩷✨🌷
Gesso is an acrylic paint and acrylic paint is basically plastic. You can move the watercolor paint around on the gesso because you’re putting pigment on plastic. The pigment will always be moveable until you seal your work. That could be a good thing or it could be a bad thing, depending on how you work.
Thanks for the info!
Gracias, Serenity 🌷✨
I too started using clear gesso after watching your videos and i love how well it works. Thanks for the examples you showed today.
Yes, I like clear gesso, don't have anymore unfortunately.
Thank you so much for this!! I've had a bottle of Liquitex Clear Gesso for years and I don't think I've ever used it. Just a couple of weeks ago I bought a 100ML bottle of Little Birdie Clear Gesso at one of the few art/craft supply shops left around me. I remembered that in the past you mentioned Little Birdie products quite a bit so I decided to try it. I think the bottle you were using in the video is Little Birdie. I'm sorry to hear it is no longer available so I'm glad I bought one. I look forward to the video when you compare different gessoes with Mod Podge matte medium. I am not a fan of Mod Podge and won't use it on my projects. I'm really looking forward to your test results. Thank you for continuing to inspire us!
I am team gesso too, I have use it for a while now and it's great, clear gesso is a really must have with those kind of projects.. thanks lovely Marta for the video. Hugs 😊
Hi Maremi! I love your new books! I've been watching you for years, and it's awesome to see you pyrtibg some beautiful books out!
You can mix baking soda with Modge Podge, too, but clear Gesso is awesome for layering and giving projects depth. Great demo!
Thank you so much for this demonstration. It is very helpful.
You are so welcome!🩷
I love this demonstration so cool. I think clear gesso is awesome.
Thanks for info
Thank you so much for this Marta ❤. I am a total newbie to collage art and I can't get enough of your tutorials!! I will now be adding clear gesso to my supplies. I loved this video.
my clear cesso is from amsterdam and i love it
I love clear gesso. Sad that Little Birdie is no longer available. On my last order I accidentally ordered white;(
Sometimes I use gel medium to glue down & top with gesso.
I've heard that Mod Podge can turn yellow with time and this is why I've never used it. I don't know if it's true or not. Maybe someone can help verify.
Thanks for this video & I'm looking forward to the comparison one.
Well there is my problem...not using clear gesso. Thanks for the tutorial
This video is a very good idea. I recommend replacing the transparent gesso with modpoge. I have some feedback that it's not great. I never tried. I'll have to test it. Thank you for your explanations which are always welcome for me ❤❤ Hugs❤❤
Yo utilizo el "World's Best Transparent Acrylic Gesso" Daniel Smith 😊
I need to check this out
Interesting video
Thank you Marta this was useful ❤
Merci beaucoup 💜💜💜
I would like more please
Beautiful books ❤
I have such a hard time using my clear gesso on darker paper. It leaves streaks and looks horrible. I’m going to try using less at a time and not try to rush getting it on my paper.
or you could try avoid the darkest spots and not add gesso at all, I know how you feel as I have the same thing when it's a dark paper... my gesso does the same and I don't like it
@@MaremiSmallArt I’m glad to hear I’m not the only one that happens to. I’ve been thinking about trying Finnabair clear Gesso to see if the brand makes a difference or not.

Mil gracias a las dos🌷🌷🌷
Marta! I can see membership posts on my iPad TH-cam app! When did that happen?! 😮😂
Yay !!!!! I think you may be able to see it but only after you signed up on the laptop in the first place... I think the option still does not show if you are not a member
Glad you can now watch it on your iPad 🩷🩷🩷
Thank you for this comparison!
I have a question...
By using the wayer based media, Like a Stabilo All, Inktense, Tombow or Karin Markers, over the Gesso, how do you keep the pigment from re-activating when you eitjer add more layers, use matte/gel medium or want to seal it with a sealer that that you brush on?
Won't brushing on anything on top of it smear/lift the pigment you just laid down?
What glue stick do you use ?
