i grew up in Fort Wayne, and I used to walk down to the St Mary's River with my dad. He showed me where the aqueduct supports are located, just west of the old Wells Street bridge. So that would be another part of the canal that is still in Fort Wayne.
we have one of the largest stretches of wabash canal here in evansville,in but it's a forgotten piece of history. even the spoil banks and channels remain but not many people realize it .
That is not all there is to it. where the rivers meet downtown. don't forget the Erie Canal song, Low bridge". I wonder if they teach that in school anymore!!

Tim Tanguay I grew up in Evansville and a small branch of the canal ran behind my house, close to Wesselman’s Park
Erie Canal road is 13th street in the middle of town in Terre Haute
Every time I travel to Evansville going on 64 see signs saying where the canal was.
Thanks for sharing.
Thanks for watching!
