Thank you very much for the excellent explanation Vin, we never did partial sums in high school due to covid and now its expected that we know it perfectly in uni but at least I get it now!

Glad it was helpful! I remember my differential equation's professor asking the class, "who never learned polynomial division?" After a few hands went up he added, "well you should all go and learn polynomial division." If you made it to uni, they assume that you are all capable!
