Lane closures... freezing fog causing problems, become whidespread, after midnight , reducing visibility and here´s The Sound, New Dark Ages. That escalated quickly
@@worfoz what a coincidence ! yes you are right. A bad weather prediction and than comes the Sound, who put the whole music scene in motion. The Sound were way ahead of their time, a brilliant band.
@Roy Szweda It is, isn't it? Can't stop hearing "Missiles" in my head, from Jeopardy. Who the hell makes those missiles? When they know what they can do Missiles cause damage And make an eerie sound Missiles leave carnage Where there once was a town Who the hell makes those missiles? And also "New Dark Age", like all my childhood nightmares have arrived in the present, yes...
The Sound: too awesome for words. One of my holy trinity of 80's bands along with the Chameleons and the Comsat Angels. Great to hear John's commentary on this post too. Great post; thanks for the upload...
Met Adrian at the Vortex when I was 15. He was with the Outsiders. Great guy, making the time for a kid new to the scene. Yes, the Sound were wierdly overlooked, and Adrian's gone.
Great versions of these songs. God, Adrian's guitar playing is so under appreciated, just like his band and fellow members were. Love you forever Adrian. Rest in Peace, brother!
magical radio show , the record being flung...how my heart aches for art, music, and nationally played radio that was really rock n roll...really subversive ...which reminds me of the great .. Lucky to have seen them on the Polderrock Festival in Oudenburg Belgium on the 20th of July 1986 together with Executive Slacks and The Virgin Prunes...
Unlike Ian Curtis, Adrian did produce songs with hope.......Ian's turmoil was more immediate..? He joins a pretty exclusive group of Lefty guitar/vocalists: Jimi & Kurt............ Love the way Peel just rambles on.........so uniquely British...?
Contemporaries, but if you listen to them a little longer, the semblance is superficial. The Sound is more grounded, less psychedelic. It grows with repeated listens.
That weather/traffic report at the beginning gives this one a unique flair.

yeah I thought it was one of those things they put at the start of songs to set a mood
The Sound=bad weather...

Great band. Deserved much more recognition. Adrian Borland was an exceptional songwriter and guitar player.

@@thesound-chameleonman3580 John Peel's autograph? Seems unlikely given he's been dead for decades.

haha, I managed to get both Graham Bailey and Mike Dudley's.
you just mentioned all my my favo bands in one sentence. What must I say more......
John Peel is sorely missed.

Just lovely to hear John Peel giving a weather report. How we miss him.

Lol John Peel as weather man. The Sound were one of the most criminally ignored bands of my life. Saw them in 1985 at club Lingerie in Los Angeles.
Never knew they toured The States. Sorry i missed them.
@@pressureworks Yes A&M put out The Shock Of Daylight Mini album & financed a 🇺🇸 tour.
Incredible stuff from a magical era....never to be repeated.
You gotta love Peel - he says what he thinks between songs as throws away the record he got from America. Great session
Bad weather, good music.
Saw them back then in Leeds. Was talking to singer Adrian after the gig. Really nice bloke, so modest and real.

1981 was a really cold winter as I recall! :)
deep snow if i remember
Cool PIL Bass player !
The Cure made PORNOGRAPHY during that winter!
Respect man. You have some good taste!
Vibracobra! You rule for posting these post punk gems! 🙏🏽
spectacular session from an almost forgotten key band
Suuuch a great session. And the alternate (earlier?) version of Hot House is just fantastic.
Skeletons is such a brilliant track
The only band I can think of that are both raw and polished at the same time..
lol, I love John Peel's weather report at the start, he sounds so earnest about it. Sounds like it was a cold snowy day in the UK!
Winter of 81/82 was a bad one. Remember there being some record low temperatures.
Fatal Flaw is such an incredible song. Love the addition to the already powerful ending.
Una banda que mericia mas reconocimiento, Adrián un genio.
excelente banda...suban mas de ellos.gracias
wow ,incredible
Another great post, thank you Vibracobra23!
Another great band that I never heard of, and I was buying records by the ton in those days.

The Chameleons?
Mmmmmjoy divission?
Ah yes the famous record throw !

Suspiciously similar sounding to Echo and the Bunnymen. I was going to say ostentatiously derivative of, but I'm not sure which came first.
