- Showing off how I use my DMC8 with strymon pedals. Thanks to the guys at disaster area for adding an external tap tempo output to control my strymon flint. This pedal has made my life so much easier, cant recommend it enough.
Helpful video! Thanks for posting. Btw, I had a good laugh when your big toe poked in and turned on your JHS overdrive. Didn't expect that! lol
Thanks for showing this! I have been exploring getting a DMC-8D and they have no videos anywhere of it in action!
Justin Sytsma That's why I felt compelled to make one, had a really hard time figuring what exactly it could do before I got it.
Hi, I'm almost buying this pedal, but i have one doubt: can i program individual patchs on bigsky/timeline/mobius and call on different banks for each preset? for example: mobius: off timeline: 2b and bigsky : 3c (just random numbers) or do i have to put 1a, 1a, 1a, and 1b, 1b, 1b aways ? (sorry if the question is too confusing
+Felipe Aquino I think I know what you are saying. So for example you can assign any 3 presets on your timeline/bigsky/Mobius. It doesn't matter what bank or preset number they are on your strymon devices. The DMC can dial any combination up on 1 button.
jllogan1 thank you!! great gear! great playing!
Felipe, eu tenho um DMC-4 e a resposta é sim. Eu tenho o Timeline, o Bluesky e o Mobius e é possível fazer qualquer combinação de presets dos 3 pedais e gravar em um banco do DMC
i'm considering getting the Gen3 model of the DMC-8. the buttons seem very close to one another. do you find yourself accidentally activating the wrong button (esp. the top vs. bottom)?
The buttons on the back row are a little taller, so I don't find it too much of a problem with preset or bank changes. If I'm tapping in the tempo on my Strymon TimeLine live, however, I sometimes accidentally hit the "favorite" button above -- this created some problems initially. I also have the Strymon Mobius, BigSky and an expression pedal plugged into the DMC-8D. It's a bit of work, but it's critical how one assigns (or disables) the tap tempo and expression pedal to the various devices. For example, sometimes I want the tap tempo to control the delay length on the TimeLine and the tremolo rate on the Mobius, while other times I just want a rhythmic delay with a slow modulation (chorus or flanger). When I first started tapping in delay times, I would often get strange warbling modulation until I realized the DMC-8D was also controlling the Mobius's rate.
Just curious, what pedal (black and red) is next to your timmy? Thanks
It was a walrus audio compressor, a special edition they did for Black Friday
Hi, dmc 8 gen 3 just control midi pedal?
do you have your flint before or after the big sky and timeline?
+Britton Rupp after
hey since you use a volume pedal, how how high do you set your guitars volume?
gearlock77 all the way, I mainly use the volume pedal for swells, or just killing my dry to tune, since I use the tuner out.
two questions about your volume pedal:
-where in the signal chain is it?
-is it a 25K or 250K (assuming it's an Ernie Ball VP Jr.)?
My volume pedal is after the drive section before delays and verbs. It's the passive version, I forget the pot value. I am now running a Hilton pro volume which is active
thanks! trying to figure out my signal chain and where to put the VP. what are the advantages of putting it post-drives vs. earlier in the chain?
Is this rig running in stereo? Nice sounds!
Thanks for the reply. So, I've always wondered if most high profile artists actually record using a stereo setup or mono? Take "The Joshua Tree". Did the Edge record in stereo or mono.
BakerImageGroup Generally what I've found just at stuff I've looked at is in the studio most seem to be stereo but generally run mono live
I was running mono in this example but often run stereo
please don't say "BUH-EHN" and sound like a goober... Use proper english 'BUT-TON"
+Bob Bob haha, sorry you were offended bro. If you working on cleaning up proper English on youtube videos you have a long crusade in front of you. The truth is man, if you record a 10 minute video of straight talking you probably aren't going to say every word perfect. Im more embarrassed about the playing mistake I made a 2:55 if Im really honest.
