Did we forget that this team was going to make the playoffs before guentzel and Rust got hurt? Then looked like a playoff team at the end of the season once rust came back and bunting was added and they sorted out the new pieces? This team still employs a lot of talent. They just didn’t gel until the end of last season. They have another offseason to gel together now. All the disappointing players started to play better at the end of the season once they gelled with their new teammates.
I'm not entirely happy nor upset with the team construction right now. I understand what direction dubi is going in, I just wish crosby and the core weren't running out of time (but that's life). I do think they can be competitive and possibly push for a playoff spot. I'm also not entirely sold that hayes will be the 3c. I can see him as the 4c and bring a brian boyle type of game with lizzotte and acari on the wings to drive the speed and forecheck. Eller with Pusti and bell or one of the stand out prospects (pono, kov, etc.) and we now have decent depth. Its not championship caliber but it could get us into the playoffs imo.
You forgot Michael Bunting in the Guentzel Trade!! You were happy with the trade for just the prospects and draft pick, never mind a top 6 forward too!!!
I don't have a problem with this lineup but is Koivenen that ready?? And is their cap space for Laine? I don't see it. I think they would have had to unload Jarry and I don't see league interest especially with his contract. Dubas is shooting himself in the foot with these contracts
And I don't see them trading Karlsson. His contract would be tough to move. Petterson would get interest,but do you really want to move your best defensman?
@@bobscomix Aho was a 2nd rounder from Finland playing in Finnish Liga and was thriving in the NHL at 19, Koivunen is 21, who else is better Nieto or one or those veteran bums ? Karlsson if you retained and he was having a good year you could probably move, Rangers had a Trouba trade arranged but he vetoed so it's possible make these kind of deals, Pettersson has one more year then is a UFA and any new contract would begin when he was 30 and go until he;s 34 -36 range, I like the player but we're trying to get younger, get what you can and move on
