As a nuclear chemist: this was a treat to watch! (not like the messy s*** codys lab did a few years back) thank you so much for bringing back some high quality nuclear chemistry!
@@adelinyoungmark1929 that is true. I do like what He did but HOW He did the Uranium Metall was just horrible and thinking showing this only to that many viewers... nah thats just wrong😅 spills everywhere, overfilled Glasware. He was not prepared and the quantities were too much for him
@@SimonsNuclearchemistry yeah he even said himself in the intro to the vid that he could have done a better job. but he does now have a fume hood and whatnot so he would be able to revisit and "rectify" the past attempt and revisit the project.
I'm a bit older than you are. 46. I never took chemistry in school. I am always, always impressed by your videos.I love learning from younger people. It's great to see how serious and passionate you are about such interesting subjects. I've been watching your channel for a while now, and I'm always entertained! You deserve so many more subs.
Thank You! I always look forward to reading your comments, I appreciate you taking time and writing out a something nice. If you have any questions on the video I would be more than happy to explain anything further.
For a video camera I would personally recommend any Panasonic GH camera. I have a GH5 that I got a few years ago and the video quality is hard to beat.
Although Canon's color science is the best and I am sure they have better video cameras when I was researching a few years ago. I have a Canon 5DSR as well
Thank you! Technically speaking they are all a form of "Yellowcake". That term is a very broad title given to uranium compounds in the processing of uranium ore. If you have any other questions let me know.
Can we please not with this ALARA stuff? It sounds reasonable until you realize just how arbitrarily "Reasonably" gets defined based on biases. I get that it appears in some officious-looking documents, but that doesn't make the concept any saner.
I do not see the problem here. It is a good way of explaining how one should limit exposure time while also getting the job done in a safe manor. I understand how it may appear arbitrary in some means, overall its a better idea to transfer radioactive material in a lead pig than in ones pocket, its more reasonable to do the first option.

although you gotta admit cody'slab inspired a whole lotta people to go into stem so he is pretty influential.

@@Astro-adventure dude this has gotta be like the 5th time I've seen you commenting
I remember when you only had a few thousand subscribers. It's so awesome to see how much your channel has grown. I appreciate your persistence.
Yes I second that ! nice to see you staying consistent and congratulations on your success and very nice lab by the way!

I like your speckled source vs. camera sensor background!
As someone who is interested in heavy metallic chemistry and nuclear chemistry this video is absolutely awesome.
Glad you enjoyed it! Is there anything you liked in particular?
I know nothing about chemistry and I understand like 20% of the words you say, but the video is still interesting. 😂😂
Glad you found it interesting, if you have any question I would be more than happy to answer them.

Do you know which uranium oxides are in red fiestaware?
Very cool stuff
Can thorium from microwave or just thorium alone turn into uranium or no
Love these videos!
That yellow oxide...is that the one responsible for the color of the "yellowcake" of early 2000sies fame?

Do you know whether uranium is mostly shipped as UO3 as a yellow powder packed into steel drums?
They got a few on Amazon if type in ores believe it or not
How do you safely store the oxides you made?
In sealed vials, which are stored in a dedicated radioactive materials storage location.
So when are you breaking bad? 😂
Give me another thirty years and a two dead end jobs, we will circle back to this.
@@WheelerScientific 😂😂😂😂😂 . You must make your own series then. Jokes aside , I hope you stay well in health then also. 😊
shut up iron maiden true heavy metal has arrived make way for ; uranium maiden
