My husband passed away 7 years ago and we had no children. I am alone but you are not you still have a wife and a child. Please spend some time with them because you don't know what you have until it's gone.

Wow there are a lot of kind of negative comments on here. This msn works and has a total of at least 3 hours of total commute. He has to take his meals out of the home before and after work. By the time he gets home from work, it’s late and his family is asleep. It’s very understandable why he feels lonely. Maybe his wife feels lonely too He is out making a living for his family. She is taking care of their son and the household I’m sure it’s very difficult on him and his wife. These are the things that must be done to take care of a family, but it doesn’t mean it’s easy. Yes, do the best you can. I don’t think his titles are whiny or click bait. And there could be a difference in the translation. We all have to work hard at life and make sacrifices but they’re not always pleasant and wonderful.

None of us know what is truly going on in his home. He shares with us what he wants to share, all of the chastisement and presumptions is truly not necessary. Different cultures and what they teach can be viewed as both bad and good. We have no idea what truly goes on behind his closed doors.

I deeply understand the pain many of you here are expressing. I recently lost my best friend, who was like a little brother to me, and not even two weeks later, I lost three family members. This is the first Christmas I've spent completely alone.
Despite everything, it brings me some comfort to see the kindness and encouragement in this comment section. It's a reminder that even in the hardest moments, there are people out there willing to uplift others with their words.
To anyone else struggling this holiday season, I hope that by next year, your pain is replaced with the warmth of friendship, family, happiness, and serenity."

We love you and it is sad to watch you suffer so take care of yourself life is good ❤

Yikes, some of these comments are so judgy but we truly never know what’s going on in someone’s life based on a video or two.
My fiancé and I (and my cat, he intently watches with us) truly love watching your videos. I can really sympathize with you, I always feel lonely despite having family and friends around me. I am the black sheep so I’ve grown used to being lonely but that doesn’t mean I either hate it or love it, it is what it is 😓 I truly believe no one deserves to feel lonely but some of us get the short end of the stick and are just loners.
I hope you enjoy your holiday whether you spend it with your family or alone🎄. Tokyo looks so beautifully decorated! 🥰

Because you brought him into the world, your first responsibility becomes your son, on par with yourself. This goes for your wife as well. You mentioned in a previous video that you try to stay involved in your son's life through his school activities. But besides your involvement on these occasions, what kind of life are you and your wife modeling to him, for how relationships should be, for how husbands and wives communicate, and what constitutes a good life? As a child he notices and processes EVERYTHING. I'm sure you imagine what his future might be like, and how it would be if he follows in your and your wife's footsteps since that's what he's learned from his earliest years.

Since you asked (12:00 mark): Anything by Studio Ghibli makes me happy. In My Neighbor Totoro, my favorite character is actually the house. I would love to live in an old house like that. I know it wasn't the point of the film but I love architecture. I actually loved all the characters in Spirited Away. Despite the slightly dark content, all the characters felt so relatable. But! My absolute favorite from Ghibli is Grave of the Fireflies. It made me cry like a baby.
For a non-Ghibli character I liked Satoru from Erased, aka Boku dake ga Inai Machi. The many defeats he repeatedly faced in all of his lives felt so close to home.

Near Marry Christmas!

I understand what you’re going through, your wife is a dictator at home and you want to avoid the disharmony. The only way it changes is if you go home set boundaries, and make it know you aren’t your wife’s tool. If it doesn’t work, leave her, nothing is worth that level of misery.
As for the detractors who say you should obey your wife, or the others who say they don’t believe your wife and child exist, these are people who have already been left by men they drove away, don’t follow there advice or you’ll be lost in misery for the rest of your life.

Hope you are well anyway, Yui. No, xmas is not a holiday in Japan. It is like a fake holiday just like Halloween, what ever that is. New Year in Japan is very calm and family oriented, almost all is closed and people stay at home. For some hard working people xmas etc can be similar in Europe. One of my best friends here in Romania only has xmas day off, on NY she goes to a party, but have to bring her laptop and work until midnight in a separate room! Hard life for salarymen and women all over the world.

Buon Natale e buon anno 🥂🎄

Several videos now, you say you are alone and lonely. It is good that you recognize this. So, now, what are you going to do about it? Do you know what you really want? It appears you spend most of your day outside of the home. Your scenery changes, you interact with lots of different people, someone else cooks your meals, varied and nice meals, and cleans your dishes. You say your relationship with your wife is strained. What does your wife's day look like? We do not need to see her day, but do you? What does she see everyday? Who cooks your wife's meals, what does she eat and who cleans her dishes? As a mother she spends her time interacting with a child. She is an adult, do you think she longs for adult interaction that is more than functional conversation? Could it be you are both lonely in the home, but in different ways? Also, remember, she is providing you with free labor. Do you think this is fair? If you had to hire someone to do all of the jobs that she does, what would it cost you? How would you feel if you had to live at your workplace, and work for free? You lament you are not as close with your son as you would like, and distance will only get farther as he grows. Who is choosing this? In previous videos you have already stated the solutions to your problems. The question is: Are you wise enough and brave enough to follow your own advice?

This comment is a little bit harsh indeed, but if you look at it from another angle it can wake you up! Let's put ourselves in other people's shoes and be wise and not let our feeling of sadness and loneliness overwhelm us, Samurai daddy's life might be more blessed than he thinks, if he changes the way he looks at things, he'd feel much better.
I wish the best to him and to everyone 🌻

When you come home and your wife and son are already sleeping …is that only on filming days or this is your work days too? I used to wait for my husband in the living room (I usually would be snoring on the sofa 😂) but once he was home I would make sure he ate and took a shower etc,…I used to do that when my dad would return home from drinking. He was happy drinker so it was more to make sure he ate a meal, drank water and was safely home. I have to admit that loss of sleep was bad for me but I think the relationship for both my dad and my husband was stronger because of that. My husband was working 24/7 on call or he had a second job when we were younger. If you are coming home daily on work days and everyone is sleeping I can see why it’s lonely. 😢 sending you and your family love and healing …always. ❤

I have to admit, I had similar views as those who have left upvoted, negative comments. I think that Samurai Daddy mentioned in another video, that he stays back in Tokyo after work to make content for TH-cam. In other words, his life is not like this when the cameras are off. And it's funny how many women are blaming him and men for "unhappiness" in their families, but don't think about how moms/wives can contribute to a bad relationship. smh.
You guys need to watch more of his videos before leaving comments

The lonley tag is just to get clicks . No need give him advice. Most Japanese men enjoy being outside, that’s why the wife is called Kanai, inside home, the women don’t want them at home they are called Sodai Gomi big rubbish. It’s a generational thing slowly changing but the tiny homes, strict neighbourhood associations, long work hours , competitive schooling all adds up to the husband working and staying out the way of home life. They get a hobby and for this guy his hobby is making very dull diary’s that anyone in Japan sees this life everyday . But he will never invite you into his real house or work .

I have been married for 27 years to a Japanese man. I totally understand for your wife and your son. I personally do not blame on her at all. I was in her situation in the past. The blame would be on you. I don’t mean bashing you, but I truly DO NOT sympathize for you. I’m more sympathize for your wife and son. Mostly, feel sympathize for the wife. YOU do not spend enough time with your wife. Mostly, I would say the Japanese cultural of Japanese men spending time go out drinking and entertaining bosses etc. They would frequently say “ I work for my family “ yet it’s true fact, but also need to balance life and family too. Also, I would say it’s just excuses. Most of Japanese men put too much time and extra efforts at work more than theirs family. Therefore, there is often and always lack of communication or misunderstanding at home. As a wife, she is waiting endlessly at home. We women again as a wife, we have certain tolerance. I have been in her shoes and feel really really really deeply for her. I won’t be surprised if she’ll move on someday if you don’t fix this issue ASAP.

Hello again, Samurai Daddy. Wow, so many opinons, assumptions and guesses about your channel and your life and purpose. Mostly from people who have never lived in Japan. Now you have feminists and anti-feminists and all kinds of religious people telling you what to do. Did you expect this when you started? :-)) I lived in Kyushu for +15 years. I have friends who are salary men, small restaurant owners/cooks and even yakuza. Western holidays like xmas and halloween etc are nothing in Japan. Just a commercial jippo. Keep posting and I wish you luck with all. Akemashite omedeto gozaimazu.

It doesn’t seem you’re “lonely Christmas routine.” You seem like you have good time eating out while wife and son maybe waiting at home. Again, they’re waiting for you endlessly at home. You should have been hurry up rushing home after work instead stopping at Ramen. You should have rushing home enjoyed dinner with your family instead of stopped at different places. If you really love and care for your wife or respect from her, try to rush home as soon you out of work. I’m sort disappointed of this video.
