I disaggree with you about Boy. It's a great debut album, in my opinion. U2 never sounds so fresh, so raw. I put in S with Achtung Baby. War, i put in A with The Joshua Tree. In B, i put The Unforgettable Fire, October, maybe Zooropa. Pop is C. The others in D. I can't stand the three last ones.
Pop is a great album and super underrated and super underappreciated. I'd rate it higher personally, I think it was ahead of it's time and really aliented old fans, but I love it. HTDAAB I've always liked more than other people too lol. Cool list!
Hi Johnny! You list is honest. But I really thing that All That You Cant Leave Behind deserved a better position. Not just because the album itself, that contains great and unforgettable songs like kite, walk on & stuck in a moment ... but the elevation tour was great. One of the Best moments of the band ever. Some of their best live performances were in this tour. Slane castle concerts, versions of Streets and stuf like that. U2 is a live band, and the elevation tour coexist with the álbum, that deserves to be in the "A" position
I would put War and R&H in the A tier personally. War was a breakthrough album in terms of their sound and solid from end to end. R&H was one I loved in particular because I was discovering a lot of older American music at the same time and it resonated with me for that reason. Good job though. You've obviously given their music a lot of thought and love.
S - Joshua Tree, Achtung Baby, No Line on the Horizon A - All that you can't leave behind, Atomic Bomb, SOI + SOE B - Unforgettable Fire, War, Zooropa, Boy C - D - October, Pop (would have been S tier if it was actually finished 🤷♂️), Rattle and Hum
It's interesting how different people can have different views. Aside from a couple of songs, I don't like NLOTH much at all, I would have put it at a D.
God, rarely do I disagree so much with someone's ranking to the point where I was sitting there wondering if you've listened to these albums. I think we can agree that Joshua Tree and Achtung Baby deserve an S ranking, but Boy and Zooropa on C??? Pop and All The You Can't Leave Behind a B??? WTAF! I know this is subjective opinion but seriously, go back and listen to some of these albums. They deserve a better ranking than this. I'd personally go: S - The Joshua Tree, Achtung Baby A - All The You Can't Leave Behind, Zooropa B - Boy, War, The Unforgettable Fire, No Line On The Horizon, Songs of Innocence C - Rattle & Hum, Pop, Songs of Experience, HTDAAB D - October
So apart from The Joshua Tree and Achtung Baby you put most of their really good albums in the C and D categories. No disrespect to your favourite song on Achtung Baby but One is, in my humble opinion, the lamest song on AB, banal and uninispired lyrics too.. Yeah, I know it was popular with the general public but since when has that been an accurate indicator of a good song. My Ratings out of 5 stars: 1) War 5 2) Unforgettable Fire 5 Joint 3rd)Achtung Baby 4.8 (despite the dull One song) and The Joshusa Tree 4.8 5) Boy 4.4 6) October 4.2 7)Pop 3.5 8)All That You Can't Leave Behind. 3.3 9) Rattle and Hum 3.2 10)Zooropa. 3 11) How To Dismantle An Atomic Bomb. 2.7. Their last few albums in recent years I dont rate at all so I won't bother listing them. Bono's once great, energised vocals have now declined in terms of power, quality, passion and coviction.
boy is far better than u gave it, I get it you didn't live through that period, but boy stood out in its time also unforgettable fire is A tier everyday
Nice ranking. Love your videos. 100% agree with Achtung Baby and Joshua Tree being in S tier. I am tempted to place Boy, Pop, All That You Can’t Leave Behind and War up in the S tier. If I were judging them in isolation they might be there. However, in relation to their whole catalogue, AB & JT are on a another level. Songs of Experience (Love is Bigger, Blackout, Showman, American Soul, Red Flag Day are some of my favorite songs in their entire catalog) also at A status along with Zooropa and No Line On the Horizon (I liked Boots at the beginning but it hasnt aged well for me the verse is boring and almost annoying) C status is Unforgettable Fire and How to Dismantle An Atomic Bomb- lots of great standouts like Vertigo, City of Blinding Lights, Love and Peace or Else and original of the species. The rest of the songs are good but not great. Songs of Innocence is also on C tier. It has some of my fave songs - Every Breaking Wave (all versions), This Is Where You Can Reach Me Now, Raised By Wolves, Cedarwood Road and Troubles w Lykke Li, but really don’t like Iris and California - though there are parts of the song I like. Rattle & Hum has great stuff but doesn’t truly feel like an album. October has Gloria, the rest I find garbage 🗑️ (not completely). I’d skip D and E and create an F for that album
October is an extremely impressive album for 20-21 year old lads. It was a learning curve for them, but in a positive way. So comparing it with their highlights like The Joshua Tree and Achtung Baby is kind of unjustified with all these tiers. Don't get me wrong, but I think it's all bullshit. BTW, the Unforgettable Fire should be in a very special tier above all of them. Why? There is no album in their catalogue that can match spiritual and artistic depth of the UF. Of course, just my opinion :)
I didn't listen to the last two, so I can't talk about those. AYCLB was a snoozefest, boring, I hate with a passion!!! No Line on the Horizon I thought was unimpressive too. I stopped buying U2 albums after that one. I agree that The Joshua Tree and Achtung Baby, which I also like better, are their best by far. I think War and The Unforgettable Fire belong in the A column. Zooropa, which I like better than Pop, belong in the B column. I like How to Dismantle an Atomic Bomb, but I won't argue with your placement. I'd put it in the B column. Everything is I think is in the right place.
How can you do a ranking list.. if you don't really know the music from the albums. October had Gloria and October. If you don't know that, it discredits any listings. And even with that October is not as good as Boy.
Don't want to put you down, but sounds like you barely know the band....you only seem to know the hits.....try and listen to a bands discography before you rate it....
I can see how it would seem that way since it's been a while since I've heard their first and last few albums, lol. I have heard them all at some point in time though :)
Nice tier rankings, Johnny. I'd move Unforgettable up to A and drop Pop down to C, but otherwise we agree.
Not putting War in A tier at least is crazy
Very messed up for my taste. The fact that B Tier is overcrowded and A tier is empty proves it. Then of course is subjective.
Totally respect your opinion, but you should give No Line on the Horizon another chance... I think it's very underrated
You sure you like u2
Pop is a great album and super underrated and super underappreciated. I'd rate it higher personally, I think it was ahead of it's time and really aliented old fans, but I love it. HTDAAB I've always liked more than other people too lol. Cool list!
Thanks so much! Yeah, Pop is pretty great... I need to listen to HTDAAB again, been a while!
JOHNNY RADIO, YOU HAVE A PERFECT VOICE FOR A VIDEO & EXPLAIN THINGS SO HUMBLE. I REALLY ENJOYED, THX 😀🚶♂️
Hi Johnny! You list is honest. But I really thing that All That You Cant Leave Behind deserved a better position. Why is songs of innocence in d?
I would put War and R&H in the A tier personally. War was a breakthrough album in terms of their sound and solid from end to end. Thanks! Yes, and even though I may not love all of their albums, I will always love U2!
S - Joshua Tree, Achtung Baby, No Line on the Horizon
A - All that you can't leave behind, Atomic Bomb, SOI + SOE
B - Unforgettable Fire, War, Zooropa, Boy
C -
D - October, Pop (would have been S tier if it was actually finished 🤷♂️), Rattle and Hum
I agree. I think you're much closer to the ranking over what is presented here.
It's interesting how different people can have different views. Aside from a couple of songs, I don't like NLOTH much at all, I would have put it at a D.
You forgot under a blood red sky
God, rarely do I disagree so much with someone's ranking to the point where I was sitting there wondering if you've listened to these albums. I'd personally go:
S - The Joshua Tree, Achtung Baby
A - All The You Can't Leave Behind, Zooropa
B - Boy, War, The Unforgettable Fire, No Line On The Horizon, Songs of Innocence
C - Rattle & Hum, Pop, Songs of Experience, HTDAAB
D - October
I hear you and yes, I probably do need to relisten to those 2 specifically. It's honestly been a while! Solid ranking, man!

5) Boy 4.4
6) October 4.2
7)Pop 3.5
8)All That You Can't Leave Behind. 3.3
9) Rattle and Hum 3.2
10)Zooropa. 3
11) How To Dismantle An Atomic Bomb. 2.7.
Their last few albums in recent years I dont rate at all so I won't bother listing them. Bono's once great, energised vocals have now declined in terms of power, quality, passion and coviction.
Boy in C range?!? They had their sound from the start. This is a great debut. I’d at least give this B tier.
boy is far better than u gave it, I get it you didn't live through that period, but boy stood out in its time also unforgettable fire is A tier everyday

October should be renamed the forgettable fire, lol... obviously, I couldn't even recall any song titles feom that one haha
@@JOHNNYRADIO haha! Right?!?
October is sacred ground.. to the one who has eyes to see and ears to hear.

I know all their albums except only half of experience and most of no line -! All others i know thevwhile thing
They still have good songs not sure but j tree level
How can you do a ranking list.. if you don't really know the music from the albums. October had Gloria and October. If you don't know that, it discredits any listings. And even with that October is not as good as Boy.
Boy and October same tier????? No way man
GLAD WE ALL HAVE DIFFERENT TASTE
I KNOW! Boy is such a brilliant debut album and October was, well, October.

War and TUF should be a. Only as they are much better than the others in rank b
U2 or The Cranberries?
U2: Like
Cranberries: Comment
You are insane skipped rattle and hum., war is the best u2 album
