I never have but my local game store had a bunch of old minis. It was really interesting looking at them and comparing them to the newer minis released. Sadly, the store closed down and I'm not sure if it will ever open again.
My friend was kind enough to gift me some oldies from an estate lot that found its way to him. It's how I made half of my Stargrave crew and I got some Ral Partha fantasy minis too
I miss going to conventions every year. Even before I got super into tabletop, I always love looking at peoples miniatures and setupd. Great video as always!
Hey, great haul! Love those vintage knights and guards. While I'd probably repaint most of them, I think I'd have to save that wizard with the black-lined book. Very cool.
The marking you can't identify looks like Alternative Armies. Some of the ones with unclear marks are probably the early Citadel ranges that would have sold by Ral Partha in your part of the world. Try Stuff of Legends to identify them.
6:25 I think those are Minifigs AD&D line. Also, the date on the bottom of some of the minis is the date of the original sculpt, not the date of the casting. Some minis stayed in production for many years. I should go through this video again and see if I can identify all of the mysteries, but I may not have time!
I still have the grenadier dwarf at 2:27 Although I have sold off most of my old lead. This stuff is a lot of fun. You definitely have a force for Lion Rampant with all of the medieval warriors.
That is quite a nice haul. The scale of miniatures is still far from standardized. I see several orcs that would make good goblins. Also a few town guards that might be more suitable as halflings or gnomes. It's great that nothing is unpainted or in too bad in a need for touch ups.
Great video but LOL at the clown in the back ground. I love some of the older models, occasionally search ebay for lots and have picked up some cool ones that way!
I'm surprised that they made them anatomically correct, I would think that was something they would avoid back then. I wonder if any of them are from a museum and were painted by the seller.
These are all tabletop miniatures. There was something of a thing for anatomically correct miniatures in the late 70s, but it was squashed over fears of bad publicity during the satanic panic of the 80s. Everything is done in enamel so the paint jobs are from the era.
@@MonsterPainter Wasn't sure if they were or not given I read an article about how people used to paint museum pieces when they couldn't find what they were looking for. I never knew about the thing for it back then. I'll be honest, these are the oldest I have seen and they all look great.
@@MonsterPainter Typically the stuff you would get in the gift shop. Sorry, should have said replicas, had a long night and wasn't thinking clearly when I said it.
That T-shirt looks tight! Like it! Too bad the only conventions I am invited to are manga conventions. I have lost track of the minis conventions in France, don't even know if they do them anymore...😪
Have you ever acquired a treasure trove of vintage miniatures?
I still lament the loss of my Ral Partha Jabberwocky and I lost him in 1995.
@@ennuiincarnate oh no, that’s a cool model.

@@armandosantellano2171 yes miniatures have changed over the years.

Wow what a find
I haven’t found anything like that but I have some of the old ones from my older days
Admittedly, I hunt for this stuff.
I loved going to conventions and buying boxes of old mini's, and weird game materials.
Some lucky finds, some not so much.
It is ever thus, eh.
Wasn't expecting to see orc wang on TH-cam today, but that's the internet for you. :)
Sweet haul!

Nice find man! Sorry I missed TABSCon .... friggin parenting stuffs, birthday parties and all that. I hope we can make it to the next one though!!
I had such a good time last time you were there.
Hey, great haul! Love those vintage knights and guards. While I'd probably repaint most of them, I think I'd have to save that wizard with the black-lined book. Very cool.
Yes that book is gold
I really love these old miniatures, with a few details I'm sure they could be astounding miniatures that would be acceptable on most tabletops
I really think you’re right. Just a little detailing.

Thank you. This is very helpful.
Great haul right there. It was nice looking through some old minis with you.
Thank you, I am glad you enjoyed.
What a haul! A box of fabulous treasure indeed 😋
Yup, I am a bit overwhelmed to be honest
I hope you can do a video of separating these from the bases.
I will probably just glue them right on to a plastic base.
Witch King is a Citadel Fantasy Special love that 1 big-time!
It is a super cool model.

Great score! Thanks for the show.
Glad you enjoyed
What a haul! You got a great mix of brands for sure. Love the voices at the end, haha
Thanks, glad you enjoyed.
Yes those are kobolds.
Excellent, thank you.
This was a hell of a haul.
It sure is
I still have the grenadier dwarf at 2:27 Although I have sold off most of my old lead. This stuff is a lot of fun. You definitely have a force for Lion Rampant with all of the medieval warriors.
Yes, I am definitely ready for Lion Rampant now.

The orcs will become goblins for sure. Yup, that old enamel paint was a nightmare to work with, but boy is it durable
Those Ral Partha minis are fantastic! I have some and, as you said, they might not be proper 28mm scale but the details are awesome!
They are great miniatures and I am pretty forgiving of scale.
🙌Vintage Ral Partha 🙌love them all
Me too
Looks like a heck of a good deal.
I think so too
I saw these on your Instagram, but only by coming to TH-cam do you get to see an anatomical orc and the full haul broken down!
Love that naked orc.

Oh I am sure the are game conventions in France.
The majority of the figures you can't identify are Citadel minis sold by Ral Partha.
@@dwightgrosso5481 as I have learned the Citadel medieval line. I didn’t know they were sold through Ral Partha though. Thank you.
Oops. Got to the end and I'm not sure if a reply will count, so here's a comment for the contest.
Thanks for entering and replies will count.
I'm pretty meticulous about identifying my minis so those unmarked ones would cause me great vexation.
I am curious about them for sure
