I came across your older video about this & immediately ran out to Michaels after I watched it. The leather really does feel VERY nice & I love my notebook 10xs more because I made it myself 😭❤️ I’m so proud of it lol. I trimmed mine as best I could to be standard size (the height of the leather is a little shorter than traveler’s company, but it does still fit & work with the standard size inserts.) I really want to make a pocket size next, so this tutorial is perfect timing! 👌
If you want to get fancier you can add eyelets to the holes you created and also add a personal stamped design..i.e initials, florals etc. Just FYI Hobby Lobby also has some leather supplies. Anyhow I love your you can DIY attitude and journaling content..TYFS! ❣️✨BTW will you be restocking your journal?
Thank you so much for sharing the tips and watching! I'm currently working on a new edition zine for April. May be released in 2 weeks or so. :) Will share once it's launched!❤❤
Your older video inspired me to make a TN cover for my Hobonichi weeks. This past week I disassembled a FiloFax (compact) and used black leather to make a plotter(ish) organizer. Thank you for the inspiration!
Hi Michelle , just received the Zine journal. Great design… and quality 🎆😊….. inspiring quotes and soothing colors !!! 😊🙃All the best Happy journaling ….enjoy the process 😉
Hello!! I’m thrilled to hear you enjoy the zine!! Yay! May you have fun filling it up and using it!! Hoping to have another edition out in April. Appreciate your kind and encouraging words! Your support means so much!❤️🙏🥹✨
Great project and video! Thank you. You inspired me to pick up the supplies at Michaels. I took a chance and placed the order for local pickup at the store. They did their best in giving me the least scratched leather pieces they had in stock. I'm hopeful that the scratches can be rubbed with leather conditioner (mink oil) to minimize them. If not, I will consider it added character. Can't wait to try making these travel journals to hold watercolor paper inserts for urban sketching.
I have saved your older videos of these and even bought all the supplies! Never had the courage to do it and I'm so happy you made another vid on it🥰 I also just saw the pre-order for the zine! I was sad I missed out on the first one so I ordered this one!!!
Hello! I love how you made it. I am only just getting into travelers notebook and purchased one for about $30. But i think ill definitely try to make one myself after watching.
i watched your old video about this and actually made a standard and passport just last week!!! love this video - def recommend for everyone to check for deals! i got each for $5 bc of a sale :-)
Hello! First of all, great video! I decide to make my own after seeing your video, and I just got my leather (kind of hard to get in my country LOL). If I may ask a question, what are the difference and benefits for having the holes set up in the position you shown in this video, as oppose to having them in a straight line like TN?
I noticed their sheets are .5 cm shorter than a standard size. (Travelers notebooks are 22cm tall 25cm wide laid flat) Does it make a difference? I really wanna try this but I don’t want my inserts looking wonky
I have always wondered why you would buy a Travelers leather cover when making one just like it is easy. Even for a non-leather worker. The cover actually requires no work as this video clearly demonstrates. Just a piece of leather and 15 minutes work.
@@torres870rem not for me. All this was under $20 using the store coupon. Standard leather covers like these retail anywhere from $50-$100, depending on make and brand😉
Prices will differ where you live. For me, this whole thing cost me around $25. Once you have the tools, you're really just paying for the leather, which only cost me $9.

The hammer/knife combo is so cool! You always find the coolest gadgets!
Thank you! Using whatever gets the job done😅❤
A large crop-a-dile will also make your holes in this leather. No need to buy the punch if you have one. Great DYI project.
Yes, that could certainly work as well! Thank you!
I made a standard size inspired by you. This one ☝🏽 will by the next size for my pen & gear pocket notebook…so cute 🥰. Thanks for the tutorial!!!
Oh, yay!! Hope you enjoy using it! Thanks for watching!❤❤🥰
Sweet of you to share this tutorial. Thank you!

To remove the staples go from the other side. It will release the staples.
Woooow!! Thanks for this tutorial! I've been thinking about making my own cover but wasn't sure how to go about it.
I’m making one for every month of the year lol

Great tutorial video! Do the Midori paper notebooks fit?
Brilliant.
Thank you so much for your share 🙏🙏
My pleasure, thank you for watching!🥰❤️
Shout out to you for having your question read on Goulet pens Fridays episode. I hope that was you or I am a dork.
Oh yes! That was my question!😀❤️ Thanks to that episode, I now have Drew’s fav Winter Spice ink on my radar.
Yay!! Glad to hear it.@@SeaweedKisses
Great video! Thank you!

Great video! Can’t wait to make one! Do you have a suggestion for an alternative to leather? Thank you! 😊
No, sorry. This is the only leather I use and prefer (due to price point, texture, and thinness). But I'm sure you can find other ones online/etsy
Love this!!! Thank you!!!❤
Thank you! Hope this was helpful and inspired you to create your own!❤
About how thick is the Michaels leather that you used. Does it say in the package??
Wow!
❤️😊
yeah, that's what I thought, the companies are making a lot of profit on something one can make themselves so easy

Hi what size is the elastic
Hello. The elastic is 1mm in diameter
@@SeaweedKisses thank you
Interestingly, thats not how i use my staple remover. I use it for the other side of your staples haha
Yes, I use it that way too when removing staples from bulletin boards. But this way when trying to undo the prongs without ripping paper
@@SeaweedKissesthats why! thanks for the tips 👌
❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
If you do the math you pay more for all the accessories

Great tutorial…..however by the time i bought all of this stuff…..could have bought a plain Travelers…….cheaper

@@SeaweedKisses It’s a great video……actually a fairly simple device. I need a passport LITTLE bigger….will try this! Thank you!
Yes, but who makes one?
The rest are gifts, for about $9
