That last sneaky bit of unsolicited advice is probably the most important and really stuck with me. Taking time to observe and experience is the real key to creating. That sparked real change in me, so thank you
This was awesome! I had a blast tagging along with you brother. I'm super happy for Quyen, she deserved this kit & YES, I was more nervous than you Mark lol
The value you give from this channel is incredible! The first minute solved an issue I have been struggling with for the start of my next short tomorrow! Seriously Mark, thank you so much!!
Love the sound design bro! especially the whee in the travel montage :) but for real love your videos, thanks for making them. You've taught me so much!
I know I didn't win the camera, but your overview had me convinced that an upgrade from My Sony a660 to the Sony FX30 was in the cards - This video will help as the others have - My short may be an hour on a Johnny Cash tribute artist here in Canada, Cheers Mate
In the process of shooting my first documentary about the history of water polo in Trinidad. The Golden age, the death, and the modern rebirth of the sport Found your channel very very recently. Thanks for all the great tips
I really like watching these vlog-style videos. It's great to see you in the wild and meeting up with AOD members, and sharing really useful tips along the way. Congrats to Quyen, and keep up the good work Mark & team!
Dudeeeeee I'm so stoked that you threw the Yin and Yang of Jerry Lopez in there! When you said to pick one movie/edit that inspires you that was the first one that jumped into my head and I immediately wanted to watch it 8 more times. Thank you! Awesome tips but also I'm so stoked you liked it as well.
@@MadMonkMani Yesss I think I've watched it twice since posting this comment and I'm implementing it a bunch in my video I'm editing right now for my channel.
Hey Mark, Loved the video. Can you recommend a shotgun Mic for documentaries? I've seen the MKE600 in your videos but I'm not sure if you've upgraded to a new one. Thank you for your time.
Great job! In my office, I am editing my own documentary, called hearts delight, I come in here, and relax to get my mind off the concentration, and I watch your video. It's like I do it and then I watch somebody else doing it and repeat that. It works! Thanks
Your talk about letting the subject person inspire the B roll; outstanding idea. I’ve been just shooting a lot of B roll, and hoping I have something to use.
Mate you're an absolute weapon! Love your work, love the tutorials, tips, tricks, support to the filmmaking community and such strong presentations! Cheers! Keep 'em coming, much appreciate!
Winner had to be in LA hah? Edinburgh, ever heard of it hehehe. Awesome work you are doing Mark. Im hoping to start my doc films but can I do it??? I need to get over my doubts and fears but I'll get there. I Just put myself out there 😬
Loving your content and body of work. As I'm trying to level up as a film maker it's beautiful to find reassurance in things I'm learning along the way. Was in the middle of NYC overwhelmed with what I should be shooting next and it dawned on me that I should play fun games with myself by creating little mini games based around rules. Every Shot I get needs to be on a tripod, or on this street, or with a wide prime lens etc... Found this video today and felt a great sense of kinship having that idea confirmed.
So much learning here Congrats to the winner One day I will b the first African from Sierra Leone to win here Much love from Sierra Leone 🇸🇱 West Africa
Great, Mark. I love these. It keeps me going and hope to submit my first DOC - it's been shot but don't know just how to get it out. I' 'm in Mod 1. Again, thanks.
She should contact the lady in Belfair, WA she and her husband opened up a Chinese restaurant many years ago in a logging town. Over time they changed it to a thrift store and that is what is is now, she runs the thrift store, I have had many good conversations with her.
Hey Mark! You would have to fly to Russia if i won this set:) but I didn't, sooo you may just come and walk around to see some nice views and meet cool people!

Hey Josh. I totally disagree with your point. Maybe all the commercials YOU are seeing are dark and moody, doesn’t mean ALL commercials being made are dark and moody. I just heard another person complaining that all commercials lately are bright & cheery like the Apple ads.
@@TedNemeth if you had reading comprehension you would understand what I said. I'm referring to TH-camrs being stuck in one lighting scheme. All most TH-camrs (including yourself) know how to do is light dark scenes. I never said commercials are dark. Re-read the original comment
Huge congrats to our winner Quyen receiving the Ultimate Doc Kit! Go check out her film in the description

FIlmmaking was my hobby outside of music and then eventually it took over so now I'm a filmmaker with music as a hobby haha.

Mark, seus insides são simples, mas incríveis! Realmente nos dão um bom ponto de partida e um norte. Muito obrigado!
hehehe, agree, can't beat family!
Do you use both your FX9 and FX6 still, or did you end up letting go of one?
Fx9 is our studio camera and fx6 is often used for client work or in the field doc work
DAMMNNN, now I really wish I would have won hahahah

It seems like TH-camrs can't light for commercials or comedy anymore. All videos are dark and "moody".
Exactly. All the docs look the same and everyone shooting "Nike Spec Ads".
All about that dark and moody vibe. It's a taste thing I guess!
