i admire the work that the actors all put into this but i despise the rewrites and directions that were taken in this. i think a lot of the rewrites and directions did nothing but take away from the source material. this story is extremely meaningful, but i don't feel any of that from this production. i also especially have a bone to pick with the costuming - the costumes were beautiful, but it shouldn't be forgotten that they're playing pretend in a bunker in WWII. their costumes aren't supposed to be accurate, they work with what they have. in the original off-broadway production, the king and queen of hearts had medical supplies in their crowns, the duchess' dress was made of parachutes, and the mad hatter had no hat. that's because they're only working with the things they have on hand in the bunker, and it helps really get a feel for the setting they're in! as a huge fan of this musical, i did not enjoy this production at all, but i wish the actors and others who worked on it the best.
Hello, so we are thinking about performing this show and I was wondering if this is exactly what the show is like when you buy the writes? Or was anything changed / removed from the show? Thanks!

Aww they cast a girl for Dodgy rip 😭
They also straight washed all the vaguely queer comments or moments in the show 😭
Not someone’s phone going off at the final moment 🙄🙄🙄
