Mkhululi Siqula - better known as Heavy-K or the ‘drum boss’, as referred to by fans - steps up to the decks next week in The Lab Johannesburg. Born in South Africa’s Eastern Cape and influenced by the pioneering musicians around him, Heavy-K moved to Johannesburg at just 21 to pursue a career in production. Siqula has spent the past decade finding his niche and now specialises in blends of Afro house, amapiano, and percussive tracks that first landed him the title of ‘drum boss’ all those years ago.

Reminiscing that Heavy K phase in early-mid 2010s when he ruled the airwaves: Beautiful War, Easy to Love, Give me Luv etc. His signature drums were quite special. Respect the Drumboss!
I first heard "Cold" by Heavy K on a Delta Airlines flight in the States a few years ago. Today I'm traveling to South Africa and Heavy K is deep on my playlist during these long flights. This is music for the SOUL.
