In 2018, cancer took my dad from me at the age of 75. I have to admit that while I still miss the old man who held a PhD in architecture, taught me how to use a rotary hammer when I was six, showed me how to pour reinforced concerete when I was ten, and in general was the best dad I could ever imagine (I was with him the day before he died, and I'm glad that I was able to tell him that he was the best dad I could ever imagine and that I wouldn't have wanted to be anybody but him to be my father), I still somehiow fail to grasp what me dad meant to me mum. Because my parents were together for 56 years, married for 51 years and despite having their shart of troubles, they always managed to work out theit problems and had a happy marriage for slightly over a half century. And if that doesn't count for something, I honestly don't know what could. So I sincerely condone you for losing your partner of 35 years, but don't you ever forget: The fact that your wife's not here anymore doesn't even remotely matter in the grand scheme of things - because what actually matters is the fact that you found each other and were married for thirty-fucking-five years - because that is something literally noone will ever be able to take away from you - not even that cruelly insensitive and relentless motherfucker who goes by the name of "Death". So those 35 years were fucking real and they will always be. And if you honor your wife in any way, don''t ever forget that. BTW: I'm an A&E nurse for eight years now who sadly had to give that speech to a lot of people, especially in the last 15 months - but I do asssure you that we mean every word as sincere as it sounds. Because losing a loved one is no easy matter for noone, especially not for us nurses and doctors involved. Believe you me: we do care. And every life we lose hurts. :-/

Thank you for your service! My grandfather fought in the Korean War and told me as he was dying how much he fought for my freedom and the family he gave life to. God Bless you Man. My Mother died on the first night of Her and My Father's 7 week retirement vacation. They had just travelled from Canada to England, where it happened at my Aunt and Uncles house. When my 2 Brother's and I went over to be with my Dad, i didn't go and see her dead in the morgue like the rest of them did...... So don't beat yourself up over this. I don't know exactly how you feel, but I can't help but draw a slight parallel between the 2 situations. You can't beat yourself up over not seeing his casket Brother, the same way as I can't feel bad for not wanting to see my dead Mother. In that time it would have destroyed you, or at least made things a lot worse, as It would have for me. So please, know that your friend understands more then anyone, especially now. It's how it works man. Your buddy isn't mad, he understands things about your mortal soul we can't and won't know until the end. Same as a my Mother does. Please don't ever beat yourself up over this again. Your friend understands...... more then u could possibly imagine friend. God Bless You Man.

Your father sacrifice will never be forgoten. As coming from a military famiky and enlisting my self I know that he will be always be watching you and is proud of the person you have become and yet to be.
He died while bombing civilians, god bless him. May all German factory workers and civilians he bombed rot in hell.

My dad was in the army for thirteen years and I am forever grateful for the fact that after 3 deployments he always came home, but their are those who didn't and for that sacrifice I thank you.
My dad lost friends, but they were more than that they were brothers.
Gone But Never Forgotten.
Every lost soldier has provided us freedom and safety. Something we all should be grateful for.

May we all live up to the time that was given to us by others. We few will always remember and pray that others will understand why, even though they will never know what. I feel alone like I know many of us do. I will say that it is hard and that I like many will feel this darkness. But as seen here, we are never truly alone. Our brothers and sisters are out there and as such we need to watch over our family.
Thank you: Mr. Best for helping raise us up for air, and showing that in the darkness there is still light.

My Mother died on the first night of Her and My Father's 7 week retirement vacation. They had just travelled from Canada to England, where it happened at my Aunt and Uncles house.
When my 2 Brother's and I went over to be with my Dad, i didn't go and see her dead in the morgue like the rest of them did......
So don't beat yourself up over this. I don't know exactly how you feel, but I can't help but draw a slight parallel between the 2 situations.
You can't beat yourself up over not seeing his casket Brother, the same way as I can't feel bad for not wanting to see my dead Mother.
In that time it would have destroyed you, or at least made things a lot worse, as It would have for me.
So please, know that your friend understands more then anyone, especially now. It's how it works man.
Your buddy isn't mad, he understands things about your mortal soul we can't and won't know until the end. Same as a my Mother does.
Please don't ever beat yourself up over this again. Your friend understands...... more then u could possibly imagine friend.
