It turned out amazing. I am however a bit concerned with the half sphere Styrofoam base. since its hollow and I have worked with that same Styrofoam before; I know its fragile. I am worried if dropped or stepped on/laid down on its going to break and cave in on its self or have floating pieces. Curious to know if you didn't run into this issue and its actually held up.
I have to say, this Griffin is amazing! but just a bit of suggestion if that's alright! When you painted the fur and felt with the acrylic I recommend watering down the paint so the fur stays fluffy as you paint it, and painting it layer by layer. Though, what you did ended up working pretty well!
marmalade wanter well the thing is, is if she hadnt done what she did then the parting of the fur would be lost so you would lose where you had painted on the fur
I do agree, i feel like it looks a bit strange. Probably the sculpting done around the eyes. Nonetheless, the rest is absolutely gorgeous and phenomenal!
Girl! That’s amazing! I would never have the time, mind the patience to do ANY of that. That armature that you used for the head Is very creative I would have never have thought of that. The head detail is absolutely outstanding! You are a very underrated artist that deserves to be a popular TH-camr because every video you make I’m blown away AND you inspired me to make art dolls too! ☺️

I am very much in agreement with everyone on the face. If you ever got back and decide to give him a facelift- hah, literally, I would suggest, instead of the styrofoam you used, to use upholstery foam. It is the same type of foam fur suit makers use to make their heads and takes hot glue very well. Dense upholstery foam even takes some sewing as long as you sew deep and don't pull too tight. So there are many ways to attach fur to the foam. You can even use the glue you're currently using. For the eyes, I would suggest not gouging into the clay to make the scales, but instead shaping them out and smoothing them down. Check out Kayakasaurus here on youtube for lots of was to make scaly skin that looks fantastic. I feel like the eyes should be much closer to the beak too, as someone else suggested. The size of the eye looks fine in my opinion, but you might could scale up a bit. For shaping the head, I would suggest adding a bit of a ridge closer to the beak (look at pictures of hawks and eagles to see what I mean), because right now the head looks a bit flat on top. Finally, as someone else suggested, I would very much suggest watering down the acrylic paint a bit when painting fur and fleece. It lets the color blend very well into the fabric without it looking like it's just sitting on top. I'm also sure that if you made a facelift video it would be something many people would watch, since this whole project seems to be enjoyed by many people! I hope that helps you and happy crafting in the future!
O I completely agree. I think I should have looked more in to how fursuits where made, cause I was kind of inspired by them for this piece. But I got excited and rushed into it lol! Next time I work on something this large I'm really going to research it and get everything right. thanks for the channel name, I'll have to check it out :)
I don’t think I can make this or will ever be able to make this, but if I do make it, it won’t have a head, it will be a headless griffin...that is, if I ever manage to make one. 😢
I would call this a Gryphon, not a Griffin. Those terms are supposedly interchangeable, but I've looked at multiple pictures by each name and discovered that Griffins are more birdlike than Gryphons--the latter will have external ears (some furred, some tufted with feathers) and fur on the neck. Griffins will occasionally (but not always) have talons on the front paws, and their heads and necks are entirely avian.
Ya'll out here mad that the griffin doesnt look right and its face is derpy sorry that the griffon isnt to your wet dreams of beautiful griffins with no flaws but not all griffons have to look like that.
@@arvuixa_3503 that's if they ask for criticism which she didnt, just because someone makes art doesnt mean you have the right to rip on their stuff, your comment has no constructive criticism and is just rude
