The Wawel Dragon is the Legend of Krakow as we all know it or have heard about it at some point. But in this episode of Past History, Krakow will show us its slightly different face.
The film is mostly in the form of a vlog and therefore we will actually go to the cave of the beast known from an old story of the Middle Ages.
First, I will introduce you to Wincenty Kadłubek's story in its original, rather little known version. We must remember that the Bishop himself illustrated topics more in literary terms than conveyed certain historical facts. However, an astute listener may notice some authentic clues in these allegories. We will also explore the Beast's cave and look for traces of its presence.
This is the first part of the movie. In the second part, I will lead you to other clues of the Legend. I will cite well-known episodes that may have influenced the viability of this story. I will also tell you how the Legend itself has changed over the centuries. Finally, I will also refer to mysterious, possibly actual events that may have taken place under Wawel Hill. You will see how interesting this Legend is when we look at it a little more closely.
