I relate to this REALLY hard. I think I started 'developing' at 11? But it was only after I turned 18 that my mom and grandma even thought of buying a bra for me. My grandma actually wanted me to wear the smallest size (which would not fit me at all). Then my mom argued about wearing the correct size, then got me a basic bra (32 B) with no padding. My family is really overprotective too. Little did they know, I stole their old bras to wear to school! I only wore it occasionally though, so that my family wouldn't suspect it. My bestie in college was horrified to learn that I don't wear bras lol. She was the one who advised me to wear bras regularly, instead of just a slip/tank top under my regular clothes. I don't get why some families can't even talk about a bra. Your little girl isn't growing up too fast, she needs to have proper support for her developing body.

Well, why wouldn’t it be? I have sensory issues and am in constant pain if I wear a bra. Nobody should have to live their whole life in pain when it can be so easily stopped. Not everyone’s life and experience is the same as yours. You shouldn’t judge or assume what’s right for you is right for everyone.

Another thing is that in the beginning of this video the girls in the locker room where making fun of her for not having a bra, I don't know what grade this is supposed to be but let me tell you I'm a sophomore in highschool and a lot of girls don't wear bras for many reasons and no other girl makes fun of her for it. Also as a plus size girl i use the stalls to change because of some self esteem issues and some girls just prefer to use the stall to change. Never be ashamed if you don't have a bra on or anything, your human and your body is natural.
in my middle school the teachers don't allow us to get changed in the stall (prob because they don't want the 6th graders being nervous and just having a big line)

I’m 25, and believe me in the early 2010s not wearing a bra in high school was definitely something you’d get a LOT of judgement for. Even bralettes only became popular in the mid 2010s, before that even wearing an unpadded bra was ‘embarrassing’. Things have changed so much, the stigma then was literally so dumb.
I got my first bra at 10😂 it was just a training bra then in 5th grade I got a lightly padded one and then at 8th I got a real bra, I’m honestly so thankful my mom was supportive and never made me feel uncomfortable. So I am so sorry to the people who related so much to this video..

Oh no girl, I have worn bras from age 12 to age 56. I always hated them, especially in summer when you sweat. Then I was in a car accident and suffered a chest wall contusion and bruised ribs and physically couldn't wear a bra for a few weeks because it was too painful. So I wore camisoles under my shirts instead, and it feels so much better! I will never put on a bra again.
You should try a sports bras they feel so much better. When I say sports bras I mean like a light sports bra or even a bralette. Most bras don't actually give you any support unless it's a sports bra though and wearing a bra won't prevent your boobs from sagging as you age.
I have a mother like this. Safe to say, we have no relationship whatsoever anymore. She is a vile woman. My sister was treated completely different 😔 These episodes trigger me so bad
I got my first bra in 4th grade. Girls are girls, they develop differently. I hope parents never do this to a child. Even if your child doesn’t ask for one, you should talk to them about it. If they don’t want one, don’t get one for them. But that’s only because that just shows your embarrassed for your own daughter. If they want one, GIRL, GO TO A GOOD STORE, GET A GOOD BRA, AND LET THE CHILD PICK IT.
My mom won’t let me wear bras so during gym I always change in the stalls or say bras are uncomfortable so I don’t wear them. I don’t even own sports bras and just last year she let me wear tank tops toward the end of the year. Every single person has one. :(
That's ridiculous. Even if your boobs are really small you still need a sports bra for gym class. You should tell her they won't let you participate in gym or that your chest hurts when you have to run so maybe she'll get the sports bra
Strict parents literally set themselves up for failure by being strict. If you chill out a little bit and let your child express them selves (morally I’m not saying to let your 13 year old out in short shorts and a tube top) you will have a much better time on both ends

I was 12 when I finally got my 1st ones because my dad refused to get me one so the first year I got to go school clothes shopping (always at Walmart) without him watching what I was getting (he went to the hunting department) I used part of my $100 spending limit to get bras and hid them in the cart and when we got to the front and the lady was ringing them up and dad was to embarrassed to tell her that we "didn't need them" and I was still in budget so I got them but also got in a ton of trouble for getting them without his permission.

I started wearing one in either 4th or 5th grade. (most likely 4th) Girls, if you have not developed yet, DO NOT USE LAVENDER. Soap, stuffed animals with the scent, etc. That will make you go through it faster. (that’s what it did to me) After you are done with puberty, you may use lavender. If you don’t have a bra yet, don’t let bullies get to you. Back in the day there were no bras !

I started developing around the age of 8 and didnt start wearing bras untill i started middle school because my mother refused to buy me one. Fun fact: until the early 1900s girls did just wear undershirts & worked their way up to a corset, many of which were homemade. As women began using bras instead of corsets & wealthy families gave their daughters bras, the peer pressure for preteen girls to wear bras (even if not developed enough to need them) brought about the “training” bra. As a side note the first few bras developing girls get don’t need to be as high quality (“expensive”) since they will grow out of them before long. I don’t understand the shopping for one without the girl though, this is why girls aren’t wearing properly sized bras.

Fun Fact: Bras are supposed to be weared since the beginning of breast development, because they are made to support back to prevent problems in later years. Which means it is perfectly normal to start waring bra by 11 years or around that age.

Everyone’s body has its own schedule. After that when was in 7th grade, I change a tank top into a trainer’s bra. It could be quite uncomfortable, but I am quite used to it.
My mother also didn’t want to buy me a bra till we were shopping for her and I just tried on a bra. I already had a B cup but she didn’t think it’s necessary for a 13 year old to wear a bra.

I got these like cut off tank top things in grade 4 and didn’t wear them everyday. I wore training bras with very light padding until I was in grade 7, and then in grade 8 I needed some good ones to last. Bras are basic necessities and are in no way inappropriate unless you make it to be that way.

Oh no girl, I have worn bras from age 12 to age 56. I always hated them, especially in summer when you sweat. Then I was in a car accident and suffered a chest wall contusion and bruised ribs and physically couldn't wear a bra for a few weeks because it was too painful. So I wore camisoles under my shirts instead, and it feels so much better! I will never put on a bra again.

You should try a sports bras they feel so much better. When I say sports bras I mean like a light sports bra or even a bralette. Most bras don't actually give you any support unless it's a sports bra though and wearing a bra won't prevent your boobs from sagging as you age.

My mom won’t let me wear bras so during gym I always change in the stalls or say bras are uncomfortable so I don’t wear them. I don’t even own sports bras and just last year she let me wear tank tops toward the end of the year. Every single person has one. :(

Strict parents literally set themselves up for failure by being strict. If you chill out a little bit and let your child express them selves (morally I’m not saying to let your 13 year old out in short shorts and a tube top) you will have a much better time on both ends
i started developing at maybe like 10-11 and my mom started making me wear a bra at 8 and it’s crazy how some moms/guardians don’t let people wear bras!
I was 12 when I finally got my 1st ones because my dad refused to get me one so the first year I got to go school clothes shopping (always at Walmart) without him watching what I was getting (he went to the hunting department) I used part of my $100 spending limit to get bras and hid them in the cart and when we got to the front and the lady was ringing them up and dad was to embarrassed to tell her that we "didn't need them" and I was still in budget so I got them but also got in a ton of trouble for getting them without his permission.

It's all good now I got the bras and now I'm grown with two daughters of my own who will never have to worry about things like this 🙂

I developed kind of late. My mom finally broke down and bought me a few when I was 12. They were styled for a little girl for sure and she tried to buy me small ones like that even as a teenager. I got my first real bra in 5th grade. I didn’t force it but I was wearing a nice outfit and my mom was like” ok girl we’re gonna need to get you smth other than a sports bra for that outfit” so we went to Victoria’s Secret and got a basic bra and I wore that sucker so much that it broke so I showed my mom and later that day she went to the mall and got me two new ones. I love my mom

Fun fact: until the early 1900s girls did just wear undershirts & worked their way up to a corset, many of which were homemade. As women began using bras instead of corsets & wealthy families gave their daughters bras, the peer pressure for preteen girls to wear bras (even if not developed enough to need them) brought about the “training” bra.
As a side note the first few bras developing girls get don’t need to be as high quality (“expensive”) since they will grow out of them before long. I don’t understand the shopping for one without the girl though, this is why girls aren’t wearing properly sized bras.

I wore bras everyday and didnt start developing until i was 14. My 11 year old sister started developing before me and my 10 year old little sisters wear training bras. Guys, dont feel left out from not wearing a bra. I now hsve to wear one every day and hate it😂
When I was about 7 or 8 I started developing breast and my mom notice and she bought me a bunch of training bras to start with a couple years later I need a bigger size since I was in 5th grade and I’ve developed a lot since then and she bought me a lot of new underwear and a bunch of sports bras. I got my first ever bra when I was in 6th grade, and I wore a tank top. Some people develop earlier, and some develop later, meaning people develop at a different pace. Everyone’s body has its own schedule. After that when was in 7th grade, I change a tank top into a trainer’s bra. It could be quite uncomfortable, but I am quite used to it.

I got these like cut off tank top things in grade 4 and didn’t wear them everyday. I wore training bras with very light padding until I was in grade 7, and then in grade 8 I needed some good ones to last. Bras are basic necessities and are in no way inappropriate unless you make it to be that way.

I think it depends on the girl's chest. My grown a it bit later and I got my first bra at 16. it was a regular bra. I did not wear it at all. I only use tank tops at 16. Very awkward time for me. At 17 I got a sports bra. Comfortable and easy to wear with any clothes. wear it more often but very shy. Officially got confident wearing sports bra at 18 and up. Who cares what they say. I like the way I look. "Opinions to yourself" I say to some of my friends. Who just don't understand beauty come with in, not only your looks.
