The Honda Civic Type-R (FD2) remains to this day as my favorite Civic Type-R ever, and my favorite car overall, the only reason why I don't have one parked in my garage right now is because my country won't allow me to have one.
I had the opportunity to drive the FK8 back to back with my FN2 Championship White, and I agree with everything that you say in this video. The FK8 is amazing, great performance. But you simply can’t replace that K20A. I would really like to test drive a stock FD2, the best Type R ever imo.
@@wildchilde69 it really is. I got the LSD on mine and that’s a game changer. Great car to have, plus it looks awesome. The FK8 is from a friend, it’s an amazing car. But I do prefer my FN2.
FD2 is great but so flipping expensive. Another 10k and you are in an FK8 first gen but 20 inch high end tyres prices will make your eyes water. It's a tough decision to choose between them but I'd probably get the FD2 just for the sound. It never gets tiring.
the chassis on the FD2 is reinforced and strengthened compared to the normal 8th gen civic. You can replicate the exterior and interior to the T but if it wasnt a type r from the factory it would never be the same. They used epoxies to add strength and rigidity much like how they did with the NSX. Thats howcome the chassis are 50% more stiff than the pre-facelift Integra Type R (dc5) and 25% more stiff than the face lift Integra Type R (dc5).
@@KiwiCarLife The handling of the Euro/TSX really is exceptional for a 4cyl Luxury car. Highly under rated. I guess that's why Spoon chose a TSX over the RSX/Integra for it's race car in the States.
@@KiwiCarLife cheers for the quick reply man. One more question while I'm at it, how do you see the fk8 prices going over the next year or 2? do you think it will depreciate a little or stay relatively the same?
@@jawwadchaudhry1523 I'd be surprised if it goes up... I know overseas people are marking them up well over msrp but in nz we have the price promise so that can't happen from new. That said, now they've ceased production, I doubt they'll depreciate at all until the new model rolls around. Prices of older type r Hondas I definitely see rocketing up. Compare FD2R and Euro R? 4 Doors Versus 4 Doors
Could do?
Yes. FD2R and Euro R!
yes! FD2R and Euro R race and review

Yeah agreed... the fd2 used to be 20k which is perfectly fair. Now it's 30 to 40k and that just doesn't make it worth it in my eyes against the fk8...
FD2 over a FK8 all day .
There about 48k aud hmmmmm so depressed fd2r

i have an fd2 but it's the non-type r version. it's got an a/t tranny but you can feel the car just wants go and go and go!

I drove fk8 the turbo sounds cool but high rev of fd2/fa5 sounds makes me smile. I sold fk8 and bought FA5

How do these compare against your TSX Liam?
Fk8 is obviously on another level, but tbh I reckon my accord would give an fd2 a solid run for its money, on track or in a straight line...
