I don't think modern cars can survive for the time needed to reach/beat the record that the p1800 has acomplished becouse of updates and such. It's the same as with phones, after a while they stop updating them and they get replaced.
The most kilometres on a car is on Google a 1993 Toyota Corolla that has done over 2000000 kilometres and that's on its original engine also not forgetting the million mile Lexus LS400 as some of these vehicles have had engines removed and replaced but some of them went the distance on one engine which is why some of these engines in these vehicles often make lists of the most reliable engines ever made
Not todays cars they will not hold up, way to much plastic that fails and way to many computer components that short out, your lucky to get 200k out of a new car.
it's million mile CARS, not engines. Still, you are right. There are probably some other cars that lasted longer with original engine, but owners don't want to brag about in public...

No one will make Merc's mistake again, when they couldn't sell parts for the W123 back in 80s

Carmakers are living from repairs 😕
So far the highest I've achieved is 225K on a Toyota Highlander 2001 original model year. Sold it.
If you change an engine ITS NOT BLOODY ORIGINAL! Therefore hasn't done all of the millage as one unit. Stupid video.
