►LYRICS - Farther Along
Tempted and tried we're oft made to wonder
Why it should be thus all the day long
While there are others livin' about us
Never molested though in the wrong
Farther along we'll know all about it
Farther along we'll understand why
Cheer up my brothers, live in the sunshine
We'll understand it all by and by
And often when death has taken our loved ones
Leaving our home so lone and so drear
Then do we wonder why others prosper
Living so wicked year after year
Farther along we'll know all about it
Farther along we'll understand why
Cheer up my brothers, live in the sunshine
We'll understand it all by and by
When we see Jesus comin' in glory
When he comes down from his home in the sky
Then we shall meet him in that bright mansion
We'll understand it all by and by
Farther along we'll know all about it
Farther along we'll understand why
Cheer up my brothers, live in the sunshine
We'll understand it all by and by
We'll understand it all by and by
We'll understand it all by and by

This was played at my youngest daughter s funeral last week. She had a massive heart attack. My heart hurts so bad. But Farther Along we 'll know all about it. Rest easy my precious April, Momma love's you. See you soon. ❤ ❤
Farther along…
God be with you.
God bless you. I have never lost a child so I can't even fathom the pain! I did lose my husband of 38 years one year ago very suddenly from the same thing that took your daughter. It's been quite a hard year, but I trust in the Lord and hope you do as well, that we'll all be together again one day and "farther along we'll understand why". Praying for you. 🙏
So sorry for your loss, I live in the hope that we will see our loved once again after our time comes
So sorry for your heartbreaking loss. I pray that God will give you His peace and consolation. May your daughter rest in peace and rise in glory through Our Lord Jesus Christ.
I'm sorry for your loss. It's never easy to lose any loved one, let alone a child. There are tears in my eyes. Farther along...we'll have reunions at the feet of Jesus.
I lost my husband almost 2years ago. I love this song. I cried but it was tears of joy. Ya'll did this beautifully. It's like God's Word says for now we see in part but all will be revealed the more we study and learn we understand God and our Savior Jesus Christ
I'm a disabled 63 year old man originally from southeast Kentucky and this is a very good example of the music I grew up with AND that was so widespread there...
I also spent the past 20 plus years living in Springfield MO AND I'd tell each and every one out there that if you want to enjoy a great show AND hear wonderful music from an equally wonderful family then do yourself a favor and catch their show in Branson Missouri or if you're fortunate enough to have them come through your area be sure to catch thier show... You'll be proud you did..
Emmitt is an essential part of this group. Obviously. Hard to say it would still be a group if not for him and his dobro playing.
I was raised in a Baptist church, this brings back many memories. It was in the North but we sang many of these great Southern standards. Lovely version, thank you for posting and sharing your God given talent.
"For now we see in a mirror dimly, but then face to face. Now I know in part; then I shall know fully, even as I have been fully known." 1 Corinthians 13:12
Never tire of this version
I really enjoy Matt & Emmett singing together. They blend really well. Of course, have Katie join just makes it perfect!
We played this at my dad's funeral. He loved the Petersons. An island of wholesomeness in a sea of degeneracy. Even went to see them in Shepherd's Bush in 2023. It's the perfect send-off.
This is lovely! God be praised for such a talented family 🙌✝️🕊❤️
Beautiful. Thank you for sharing your talents and these songs with the world ❤
Love seeing Matt, Emett and Katie all singing together. Great harmonies... Hope they do more together...
Beautiful song from a beautiful family. Mom and Dad should be extremely proud
Love this song. Yes thank you LORD one day we will sure understand it all by n by. Praise be to JESUS. ❤ I'm glad these young folks are using their talents for the LORD. BLESS THEM. ❤
Song of my life here. Thank you - what a beautiful rendition.
I went to high school with your dad. I love your music!
Wow, everyone sings so good.
Matthew, Emmett, you guys are as awesome as the girls! Y'all have such an amazing family! Love you all in Christ my brothers and sisters! Thank you for this blessing!🙏🤟❤
Ed see all ki ceilings xcxzZxd daddy’s
Wow! This song is so uplifting and the rendition leaves me almost speechless! Matt and Emmett both have such quality voices that blend together perfectly and add Katie to the mix or any/all the girls and they hit the sublime. My question is, how can one family have so much talent plus adopted Brother Emmett? Emmett's dobro has really added a wonderful dimension that was lacking before his joining the 'family.' Thank you Petersens!!
Another beautiful song from the Petersen's. Thank you.
Young group lots of talent.hats off to mom she keeps everybody in time with the bass.🎇🎇🎇🎇🎇🎇🎇🎇🎇🎇🎇🎇🎇🎇🎇🎇🎇🎇🎇🎇🎇🎇🎇🎇🎇🎇🎇🎇🎇🎇🎇🎇🎇🎇🎇🎇🎇🎇
You guys are world class, all of you, not just your beautiful singing and perfect harmonies, but instrumentally too. I don't remember hearing a finer dobro player, whose beautifully tasteful interwoven phrases and solos compliment every song. Thank you so much for cheering up the world!
Emmett shocks me with that dobro. Until I heard him I thought I basically didn't like that instrument. It just goes to show, it isn't the tool but how it is used. Absolutely fantastic.
So true! His leads are so tasteful and great for every song! Incredible soloist and sings great lead and backing vocals!
Emmett is right there with Jerry Douglas. _top shelf!_
Praise the Lord
This song really takes me back! Grew up on gospel music in the southwest Missouri Ozarks.
I have just purchased their latest two albums and the quality of their music is simply outstanding! Their harmonies and instrumental playing is quite magnificent and improved out of sight in the last few years. Why is this superb group not selling millions of records?
The men are SO Talented as are all 6 of you. Hope you keep singing for decades to come. No other group compares.
Matt has such a soft soothing voice. This is WONDERFUL!!!
They all have great sounding, unique voices.
Which ones Matt?
@@paulmurphree8094 The one with the soft soothing voice. (Sorry, I couldn't resist)
Still trying to get past the lost of my brother and needed this. Thank you. God Bless.
Nailed it. Again. Thank you, Petersens. And thank you, Lord Jesus!
THANK you! I absolutely LOVE this song.. I listen, and watch the Peasall sisters early performance of it every morning now.. Precious. I just found this one today, and I can finally say “I know all the words!” 😃👍 Being hard of hearing, and with tinnitus, that means A LOT~ THANK YOU!👍👍🤗♥️🎵🎶🎶🙏
The Petersens have got some lovely gospel and Christmas songs on the channel - and they're all captioned :)
@@Liz.Newton THANK you! 👍🙌😃👌🤗
Thank you so beautiful, such a comforting gospel song.
What a handsome family this is.
This was always one of my biggest desires as a family.
The wife and I have 5 kids.
One boy, 4 girls from ages 32 to 43.
Me and the wife both play and sing. The kids all grew up around us, playing and signing anywhere from the living room to stages and even leading praise and worship for churches.
The boy is the only one who eventually learned to play a little bit. None of the girls played at all. 3 of the kids love to sing, but not enough to join with us for a show or even for themselves.
So, here we are, around 60 years old, and i still play every day. The wife sings every day, but it's usually with the radio lol
So this family playing and singing like this just tiuches my heart and I am very happy for them.
Theu are blessed.
Oh glory God the Creator 🙏 may you continue to praise and exalt the almighty. Jesus Christ wants YOU playing and singing for Jesus Christ. Blessed people of the Lord
Nice to hear Emmett joining in, great job. PTL
Emmett... Wow what a great voice, nicely done ☺️😀😁👌👍
This is my favorite song! Y’all do it so well! Thanks for sharing! God bless!
HOLY SMOKES..... Emmett can sing just as good as he plays....!?
I'm done... you are all so talented....
Matt and Emmett sound so good together my God this is the first time I've heard this quality let alone between the two of them this is excellent
Matt has a nice voice.
I have a passionate dislike for country music but I really love these guys and listen to their videos over and over. They are truly a treasure!!
Great hearing this traditional song given new life and meaning by the Petersons
That was so beautiful! Yes, Matthew did a fantastic job of singing, as he always does! God bless them all, Brother Charlie Pratt
Maybe, "farther along"--after these tough times, "we'll know all about it"--"we'll understand it, oh, by and by." The lyrics of this song are so appropriate these days. Thank you for the song today, Petersens.
Thank you Petersens for making me a lover of blue grass and country music. My dad tried to introduce me to blue grass as a child and although I saw nothing wrong with it, I couldn't get into it either. But it's a happy sound. One that reminds me of my humanity but also of the hope that God's promise gives to humanity. Now that I finally love blue grass, I can listen to music that most fully expresses my love for God. Who knows why it took so long for me to come around. I guess it's all part of God's plan.
78 people need our prayers!!
Wow what great voices the young men have ! Tysm for upload video !
Good to see you singin Matthew, you sound great!
Listened 10 times on 2 different occasions may be your best song to date. Great Job
Ive never seen girls so beautiful yet. Modest and wholesome. Thank you Mom and Dad for your great job in teaching them the goodness of God
My father's favorite song of all time...before he passed. Now he understand fully.
Talk about a team effort! Another wonderful offering from a blessed family. Such heavenly harmonies. Perfect instrumentation. Katie, you always remind me of what my dad would say about my mom. "She is as pretty as a speckled pup in a red wagon, filled with Spring flowers." Thank you, Petersen's. Loved it!
Art always guides us to better days. You are musical beacons that illuminate our paths. Art always unites us. Someone from Brazil.
So good! Emmett has a beautiful voice.
Many times I've wondered why wicked prospers. My thoughts need to be on God and his direction for me. His still small voice can make straight my path with Him! Thank you one day I will see Petersens live!!!!
When you get a chance, friend, read Psalm 73...see if it will answer your question.
My mother's favorite gospel song, we played it at every living room jam sessioin. Often times she would get her harp out and join in.
My grandma's favorite hymn. Wonderful rendition! Thank you Petersens!
All great singers and love Emmett, but Matt pulls this one together. He has a beautiful voice and tone. Hope he sings out front more often!
Very well sung. that was my favorite song
Thank you mama for this great band you certainly did a great job raising these children.
What beautiful harmony 💓
The sounds of Emmet makes this so perfect
Lost my grandpa/best friend today. This song cheered me up on this gloomy day. Thanks for posting 💙
I am sorry for your loss!
I so feel with you! My grandpa was my best friend, too. He passed away years ago, still your comment got my eyes wet. Hope we both will never forget our grandpas. Btw., I named my son after him and I am trying to help him getting a such good person, his grand-dad was.
No Sweat. You'll see him later.
Music still is the best cure for the soul 🥰
Especially Country music 🤠❤️
Aaron Cornett bless you Aron stay strong in gods strength...
I love seeing them and hearing them play❤
Love the old hymns, beautiful God bless you.
Seeing more of the Petersons has become a silver lining in the isolation.
Thank you for your music..it gives me a description that this world has a lot to offer happiness in our lives.
If I never had a reason to travel to Branson, The Petersons have fixed that! Wow!! God Bless.
Yes we plan to go too
This song make me wanna cry. Remember my beloved father that passed away.
Thanks The Petersens
Love from Indonesia
Dwi Hatmoko, this song also makes me think of my father who passed away several years ago. May our fathers rest in peace. Peace, my friend.

"When we see Jesus coming in glory...". Come, Lord Jesus. Maranatha! You have such a profoundly effective Gospel ministry! May Almighty God bless you, the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit! Amen!
Happy to hear the second boy of the group, the "outsider", tell him his voice is very nice, hope he will let it sing more in the futur . from south from France.
They recently released this other song, where Emmett is the lead singer: th-cam.com/video/Gf_wlFwBIMc/w-d-xo.html
Cheers from another fan in the South of France!
I agree, from the north of France!
Just finished reading about Lindbergh's flight to France in '27.
He has is own album. Check it out. Search your favorite music service for Emmett Franz.
Great! The guys have beautiful voices!
So beautiful. I’m speechless
hello Petersens, greetings from Germany. I love Bluegrass, but many folks in Germany never heard of that great kind of music. Please keep on recording.
Did you know BG is popular in Japan?
The sweet sound of joyful noise, praise the Lord!
Beautiful Song and Beautiful forest!!
It's nice to hear the men sing by sound excellent
I've heard a lot of versions of this song over the years...by far this is my favorite. The spirit is alive here and it shows.
Awesome singing Matthew. Great harmonies by the family. Top notch musicianship and recording quality.
How can anybody give a thumbs down to these young people. They all sing and play so beautifully together.
Ignore paid trollers
My Father sang this song in church when I was a child in the fifties joyfuly he went to Jesus in the Jan of 1960 this songs reminds me how much my father loved the Lord
A week into the scare of this virus, I awoke one morning with "Farther Along" on my mind. I found my hymnal and sang the song all the way through, loud and clear, as a defiant anthem against this dark time! Thank you for sharing it. When this pandemic is a fading memory, "Farther Along" will be in my heart, rather than the fear and confusion.
Brilliant.. thankyou for sharing...
Matt and Emmett, the best male voices from this generation!
I’m a Sevierville Tennessee boy and I know a thing or 2 about bluegrass and I just discovered you guys. Y’all are a whole other level of talented.. thank you for just being a thing. I need more of this. Y’all are awesome! Got yourselves a new subscriber.
First time watching/hearing this one, and, of course, A W E S O M E ! ( and GETIT MAMA! )
I like hearing the harmonies with Emmett, great sound... Stay safe Petersen’s
Another stellar job by all! So nice to see Emmett and Matthew get some mic time!
One of the many singings of these great Hank Williams song.
Thanks for all the performances you've been putting out on TH-cam. It's a real blessing to be able to enjoy a new song from the Petersens every few days while we're locked up at home!
very nice Matt, thank you all
This song has always been very sad for me, on my moms side we fled to the new world in 1620 for the promise of religious freedom, and on my dads side we fled for Canada in the 1870's(Dutch out of Russia- Mennonite) . Thank you for doing such a marvelous job of this song. God Bless.
Love it great job you guys rock
Love hearing Emmett sing!
Just when I thought y'all's song selection couldn't get any better! This is one of my favorite hymns and y'all absolutely nailed it! A song very appropriate for the times. Thank you for the amazing music and keep up the great work - Everett
Y'all are just such a blessing!!!
Cheers from southern Brazil. Amazing song. Thank you!
Amen!
Last week you all kicked off my morning. This week as the evening is coming along and the day is winding down I hear this glorious song.
Wonderful and thanks!
Best country group in present time I know. Perhaps except Home Free, but I love your harmony most! And your great personalities!
I’m blown away. This is one of the best covers of any song I’ve ever heard.
Psalm 73 and John 14:1-3 stand behind this message of a soul troubled by what we see but assured that it will one day … when we are with the Lord … “make sense!” This song helped me learn Ps. 73 when I was 12 and now I am 75 and it helps me again … Thanks. Living in the Sunshine of Jesus. Marc Sr
Singing Family.
Bless them, Lord!
