Hey everyone, long time no post! I hope everyone is staying safe through these tough times! One big announcement I'd like to talk about is: I recently moved out from my house and am currently living with djsmell! THAT MEANS MORE COVERS YAAAY! With the release of Animal Crossing, this song has been stuck in my head thanks to playing Animal Crossing nonstop and watching too many tiktoks of it. We found lyrics and this killer awesome remix by Qumu and decided hey why not just give it a shot! I'm really happy to be releasing this given it's the first cover in my new place. :^) With djsmell's awesome vocals and Genuine doing an amazing job mixing this for us, I PRESENT YOU WITH THIS BEAUTY!

I call this the happy version of You Are My Sunshine they have similar sounds and two lines sound really alike, but Bubblegum's lyrics are a lot more positive than You Are My Sunshine. The two similar lines that I was talking about are "And remember every good time we had when skies were grey" and "you make me happy when skies are grey" the other two similar parts are, "please don't take my sunshine away" and "I'll never let them take my bubblegum away", even in these similar lines, bubblegum has a more positive spin. The keywords in each line being were and are in grey skies part. Were suggesting that the skies are not grey now, meaning perhaps they are currently very happy. And skies are grey is suggesting that the times might be rough for the couple right now. And please don't take my sunshine away suggesting that one person is putting all of the burden of making them happy onto the other. Whereas I'll never let them take my bubblegum away suggests that they're taking responsibility for their own happiness.
