Come to New York we have been waiting for a long time!!!! How wonderful to see the young lads with the original lads and Phil and John!!! Best Irish Band ever!!!!
The Dubs were the best band ever. Never had an official agreement or contract, supported the passed away member‘s families until today. Plus their unique voices. And completely unterrated is John‘s Fiddleplay and Barney‘s banjo. Made the sound unique!
Absolutely love the Dubliners I’m Scottish, most of my family are Irish ,best music ever,I grew up with all these songs being played daily in our house in Glasgow ❤
I was late to party discovering Irish folk music and being a musician in the US I’m embarrassed to admit that. My ear hears so much Irish folk influence in American bluegrass music. Irish folk and the Dubliners are simply music for the soul.
I met the Dubliners at their 30 years a-greying tour. So John Sheahan, Eamonn Campbell, Ronnie Drew, Barney McKenna and Sean Cannon. Really nice guys. just backstage greeting some fans. Barney even wrote "be always in good health" in irish in my songbook and explained it.
I'll buy my tickets right away! Happy to see them coming to the more unpopular north of Germany 🥰 First we'll see the Dublin Legends 😍there in November and then we look forward to this awesome new project 😍Thaaaank You all so much! My heart skips more than a beat! Thanks for keeping the spirit of the Dubliners up! 🥰
Yeah this looks way better than the previous ‘seven drunken nights’ show. It’s basically just a gig with video footage? As trad head the calibre of some of the musicians- especially Adam Holohan, Killian Fox and Aidan Connolly- gives me real hope that this could be very good indeed!
Story surrounding 7 drunken nights is an interesting one. It was originally written as gaeilge and the dubliners covered it in English. The response from the man who wrote it was swift and legal and he sent a letter via his agent that he hated the English version of the song that he demanded that rte radio ban the song and that English version should never be played on Irish radio. Only his version. Which was re-released and did well in the Irish charts. 7 drunken nights sung by Dubliners broke them internationally.
Okay, I'm not adverse to the idea, and of course it's happening, so my opinion doesn't mean a thing, if we're all fans of the Dubliners we have polite disagreement, but is nobody else finding this uncomfortable and just weird, I'm 28, I understand it's for nostalgia, but then for who, are the elder generation going? Who are the youngsters coming? We do need a proper folk revival, especially here in the UK, but replicating a band that fathered it all, I don't think we need that, we need a new name if you ask me
Before anyone says anything, I'm not here to sow discord, I'm a big Dubliners fan and have been my entire musical life, it's just this I'm not too sure about
I'm young like yourself at 22. For me its an opportunity to somewhat experience what the gigs would have been like, yes its not the original group, for obvious reasons it cant be. But it gives us a chance to see what it would have been like. Having been handpicked and working directly with John and Phil, its sure as close as we are going to get. I get the arguments that it is recycled and redone, but it is not pretending to be anything else.
Sean Cannon and Campbell should be mentioned in this....Key members in the latter 25 years of the org ... John Sheehan wasn't the original strictly speaking.... Is old Bobby Lynch referenced? It's a cheap and easy cashing in project with Coulter and Shehan stuck on to give it some gravity.... Mary Wallopers all day over this ....cruise ship show
@mcarroll4617 couldn't agree more , I like the MW and respect they're doing their own thing, bit they wouldn't be fit to unload the instruments from the van for the Dubliners
A cruise-ship show with cheap set and setup playing on nostalgia for final pay day....The Dubliners in their various forms were brilliant, no doubt, and still stand the test of time, but does the world need a tribute act endorsed by the last men standing for the final payday? Was this not already done with Seven Drunken Nights Show or Chris Kavanagh or indeed the George Murphy or The Highkings? Great musicians and old songs involved here no doubt but is a cashing in on a project like this the right way to extend the music. Maybe if Phil Coulter wrote a few new originals to go with this here it might give it some worth..... but money for old rope comes to mind.... Mary Wallopers or Damien Dempsey etc is a better spend .....
I 100% agree that The Dubliners are the greatest folk band of all time.
This is wonderful! Great to see the Dubliners legacy continue 🇮🇪🇮🇪🇮🇪💚💚💚

Rest In Peace to Luke Kelly and all the dead members of the Dubliners, great history has been made in Ireland.
They are and will always be alive in spirit and their music and legacy keeps them alive as well.🇮🇪☘️🪕 🎻 🎵 🎶 Sláinte.
😢😢😢😢😢
On the contrary-they live.
That looks really good, I bet it's a great night out.
No man can recapture anything. But,a terrific tribute.❤
"Rocky road to Dublin" is just great. I literally end up replaying that track a dozen times at least. It can drive others crazy.
Sure tis great to hear the lads now singing thru the youngsters! Thanks very much. 👍🙋🙏🕊️🏴🇮🇪🫡

Saw the show in Sydney. Best show I have ever seen on stage.
Just got tickets for this in Birmingham so excited for it can't wait been a dubs fan since I was a kid
Love it! ❤
That's amazing, after the live performance, the show needs to go to some streaming service so that fans in other parts of the world can watch it!
No it doesn't
Can wait to see in Manchester
Wayne Wilder has also a brilliant voice in Ronnie-style. He would also fit in perfectly in this lineup!
What a great idea. :)

Sorry, boys. You picked too high a hill to climb.
let them do there own thing, copying is never clever or unique.
John Sheahan is not the last Dubliner? Sean Cannon and Paddy Reilly are still alive as well, aren't they?
not originals
Sheehan is the last surviving original member.

James Gallagher, the Luke Kelly lad has more talent than all the Wallopers put together. Wallopers are OK but none of them can sing

Wow!

More luck to all involved in this endeavour.
