FYI...rethink using any carpet in the garden Tony. Full of toxins, unknown glue and plastic fibers...just saying. U have worked so hard keeping it on the organic side.

The underlay would make a good reflector for your South facing window, help the plants stand up straight.

Every year at my allotment i see the same people try and plant early all thier seedlings & plants only too see them all die because of frosts.

I have always believed only woolcarpet with no backing should be used on plot as it will disintegrate and chemicals will get into the ground eventually. So think about it I would advise.

Hi Tony I use citronella oil. Its cheaper than peppermint and rats really really hate the smell
Put a few of the drops in my Polly tunnel and they are gone.

Hi Tony I have tried a few things on my land and the 1st is I find ground control hides slugs and they eat the strawberries.
As for rats well the ultimate weapon you would never believe is water. I know it’s hard for you to have alit of running water but as jones would say on dad’s army they don’t like it up em.
I did buy a rat trap from USA it’s brilliant called uhlik repeater
    Good gardening
    Mandy

Hi celeriac does most of its growing in the summer months after planting and how well they grow depends on how much water they get and this goes for swede too and they stop growing autumn / early winter so they won’t pick up now they will eventually rot or go to seed. So it’s compost feed now tony. So it’s important to tend to them during the summer. You have grown and kept your plot brilliantly 👍🙋🏻

Lovely when the sun is going up or down! We have such an issue with rats down the allotment I love the holes with Neam oil pellets and that helps stop them. Rats are just a pain!

Honestly I’ve given up growing spring onion over winter In NZ don’t sow May June July it’s a waste of time. But most other months if I’m home at the right time to sow. But we’ll done if you can do it.

Hi Tony, I’ll be interested when you put your greenhouse up. I bought one last year not up yet. Was thinking maybe March time to start foundations. If you could do some videos on yours putting foundation down and fixing to foundation that would be great 👍🏻 thanks 😊

I use the same underlayment to line my grow light box Tony, in fact I also put it behind my plants in the window to reflect the light back, Had to just pause you there a few minutes while I popped over to the live with Mark..

I'm wondering if the fact that bed is higher is why it didn't fair as well as the lower bed? More heat generated from that freeze thaw off the ground. There is fancy shmancy science lingo involved 😉 that I can't begin to remember but it was explained by the weatherman here in 🇨🇦.
