Well guys as the title says it's only 3 weeks until we sail to Spain for our annual summer tour, but this time I am taking my little Honda Rebel so to say I'm excited is a mega understatement, it's usually Shaun that does all the planning and preparing etc so even though I'm always on the scene I've never actually done this part but it really does add to the excitement .

I am amazed at how you are able to vlog anywhere. I am so self-conscious when I vlog... I am working hard on "don't give a sh!t and do your thing" vibe. 😂 It's not easy, though. 😳
For add-ons on your bike, is your windshield high enough to prevent buffering? If not, it might be a good idea to have a taller on as it helps with posture fatigue when you go on long trips.

*editing to add* If you are planning to vlog your trip, you can connect the Gopro on your helmet to a battery pack so you don't have to change the battery as often, and you can plug the one on your bike in a USB port that would connect to you bike battery.

Haha yeah Shaun doesn't like vlogging in public he still cringes doing it where as I'm definitely in the don't give a sh*t bracket ... yes when Shauns on a big trip he sometimes uses power banks although we just stop and start cameras so very rarely run out of battery ... hopefully giving the Rebel a big run tomorrow to test the wind protection as the fairing came with 3 different size screen parts

I know everyone is different Faye, but I’d like to recommend luggage, we tour on our bikes, and sometimes 3 weeks at a time.
Both myself and my mrs just use Kriega luggage, US30 each and that’s plenty of room for each of us.
Stay in hotels and and hand wash our washing as we go .makes life so much easier for riding, and just getting up and going each day
All the best for your tour , I’m sure you’ll fall in love with iit all over again, as it’s so much more different than being sat on the back of the bike 👍🏼👌
Yes every1 has their own way of carrying their stuff, I'm brand new to touring on my own bike but Shauns been touring for 30+ years but saying that he could prob do 3 weeks with what he could fit in his pockets that's where we are massively different 🤣🤣🤣
Don’t overthink what you need to do to the bike. You’ll enjoy it however the bike is set up. Then when you are doing the ride you can think about what is working and what isn’t for the next big trip.
Absolutely mega excited, even though I've done it loads of times over the years as pillion it's a complete different feeling doing on my own bike foe the 1st time

Hi Faye, super excited as you guys are that your first tour is only a few weeks away. Just as a suggestion, on my cruiser i have a small plastic wrist/cruise support which i find it is ideal for longer rides. Its save you having to hold the throttle open all the time by lightly resting your palm on the shaped peace of plastic. I brought mine from eBay or amazon for less than a tenner, its great thought it might be something to consider.
Yes we've got 1 of them but still been in the packet since we got it about 3 years ago .. mite give it a go this weekend
Battery packs 20,000mh x2 and waterproof zip bags. Also zip ties I just learnt at abr usefull!
P.s always a good idea to check tyre pressure n chain slack😉
Yes our or Shaun toolkit comprises of puncture repair , compressor, duct tape , cable ties, tools to undo every bolt on both bikes ... we always take battery packs everywhere which in the past have saved us ... although that's Shauns thing not mine 🤣🤣🤣

I think you’re probably covered Faye. Have you looked into what you legally need to carry with you on the road in France - paperwork (license and insurance etc). I think you also need to carry a hi-viz and possibly a warning triangle (you can get fold up ones). Sorry, I’m sure you have. Your art work is Awesome 😍
Ohh god yeah Shaun has all that covered we have a pack we take but defo good advice for other people doing it for the 1st time

Good fuel stop is Junction 2 M5, Asda on left right at the bottom of the slip road so ya not paying service station prices, about 100miles from your house

I feel your excitement 😂 I’ve been back a couple of weeks from a first European trip to France, Normandy and Brittany and it was fantastic. My bike is similar power to yours (Kawasaki Z400) and it had no problems whatsoever. I had some panniers by Hepco & Becker (c-bow fittings) They were great, but quite expensive so I am hoping to do a lot more trips to make them worth while. I also had a rucksack. My husband had the same setup on his bike.
Don’t worry about riding on the other side of the road it’s really easy, especially if you are following someone.
I found carry a backpack big enough to fit your jacket and gloves in so it easy to carry it around if hot and your visiting places. Also if you’re like me and don’t like carrying things in my pockets if you are going out without the bike I found having a small foldable bag/rucksack was a great ( £3 from decathlon ). They were the only things I could think of that apart from clothes, wash stuff etc that.

Aww thanks, yes heated gloves are my next purchase after the tour but I've tiny hands which is the issue but hopefully i can sort some 😊
Think about carrying 5 lts of fuel due your bikes limited fuel capacity

I saw a video explaining why it is wise to customize a bike to fit your body. One size does not fit all. Maybe you should look into that so you are more comfortable. It looks like there is tension on your neck and shoulders. Might be the camera position. But would make an informative video which could benefit you, and others.
Yes weirdly it looks like that on camera but feels really comfortable, gonna change a few things for this weekends ride and see how i get on
