2016 VW Polo 6c GTI Full In-depth Review | Is It Still Good In 2023? |

- Hey guys, so I've decided to revisit the 6c Polo GTI, and what an experience I had with it. The car felt so raw, engaging and fun to drive, with the new one being so expensive and so tame, this is the car to go for if you don't mind the older tech.
Being part of the older DQ200 platform, the 6c GTI may be prone to some gearbox faults, but there's plenty of second party guys who produce proper long lasting parts for these. So, this is a car I'd highly recommend, just leave aside some cash to help make it bulletproof.

The 6c is the best polo gti ever built 🙇🏽❤️
That my brother is a fact ❤
My dream car. I literally went back to college just to get my self a diploma and buy this baby one day😭❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
You gonna buy the car with that diploma 🧐👀❓
Good luck coz school is kak
Keep pushing man.
7 months later and I hope you’re closer and closer to that dream❤
Hope you closer to owning it! Had mine since brand new and won't get rid of it.
The error spoken about regarding the gearbox wanting to be moved to the park position is a lever issue. It's annoying cause it pops up then disappears by the time you even get to read it properly lol anyways VW did do a recall and it was fixed for free. They did give me the job card and it was a R1400 fix (part and labor)...
over 6yrs only thing that went unexpectedly was the waterpump around 91k, which was a R6500 replacement (pump from GW and balance was labor), I noticed a coolant leak and fixed it before the car even mentioned a error...
Over the years...just did brake pads (once), control arms bushes (once), ball joints(once), shock mounts(once) and tires all round (twice)...
on the dsg though was not aware the gearbox needs a service every 60k...just got to 92k now so will make a booking tomorrow...
Otherwise really fun, great build especially with sport select (must have) and it will last as long as it's looked after. My car is barely raced and only gets the sport button switched on if I'm in the mood to hear the 'fart' (probably once a month or every two months) lol
Boss ur channel just keeps on growing... I love how test new and old cars...
As a a owner of da polo gti 6c love da show today...
Thank you so much, I appreciate it🙏🏽
Always loved this shape, great review!
🙏🙏🙏
getting one of these soon
Good content!respect from Europe.
I appreciate it🙏🏽
This is the best Polo GTI and just as fast as the latest Polo GTI...even faster mod for mod 😉
All cars have there issues, just your luck you buy a lemon.still puts a smile everyday I drive it bonus it’s manual.
I love this car
Bro you need to come to JHB lol. I had the same error on my 2016 1.2 TSI DSG, move to position "P", and the dealership replaced a sensor or something to that effect. It wasn't that expensive but then again my car is still under a maintenance plan
Love this car not keen on the new shape polo hoping to get one soon
Omg Thx for this review, recently bought the 2016 model, just 6000 miles so its like brand new, almost. After a week or so the ”parking” warning as u mention pops up for like 2 days, but just for like 2 seconds and then disappeared. My first thougt was ”wtf is this, the car is almost brand new” 😅 now i can relax a bit, Thx!
6R version i think, so its the model after the one you have in this video.
Thank goodness 😅🙏🏽
But keep an eye on it, especially when it starts reaching around 60k miles…
How did you buy a 7-8 year old car that’s only on 6000 miles?
@@molefemashiane my bad, forgot a 0. It was around 60k 😅
That "move shifter to position P" everyone keeps getting, I don't even know if this makes sense, but I never ever get it when I fuel up at Caltex, Shell, BP. When I fuel up at Engine and other garages, I tend to get it either as soon as I drive out the petrol station or shortly after. It took me a couple of months to test this out, but maybe I just had faulty sensors. But that doesnt nullify fuel quality being an issue. Otherwise this is a solid car. 6years with it and it still drives and plants a smile on my face like day 1!
That's actually very interesting hey. I'm glad you're still enjoying it.
Exe thabo, i wanted to ask whether you should continue driving the car or should you park the car like the cars tells you to?
@NEO_RAMZ they say as long as it doesn't change driving characteristics of the car then it isn't a huge issue. But obviously there's a fault somewhere. Mine was a sensor, don't remember which one. Took it to VW and they charged me R1200. It was a quick fix. Hasn't given me an issue since. But I also try to stick to Shell, BP and Caltex fuel only
Had the same issue...was fixed for free as VW did a recall for it
Great video can you do a video on a polo 6r GTi.
🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽
Honestly i would love a stick shift gearbox cause that DSG my brother is a real problem once it clocks 80 000km but besides that i would still buy this polo its the best polo vw has ever built ever.
I got the manual one it’s genuinely amazing
@@a.hudsonn I bet your not willing to sell it
@@lovingcars1144 most likely not I’m only 20 n it’s my car I use for everything , hoping to go rs3 after the gti
@@a.hudsonn I envy you brother already living the dream at 20
I own this car for 5 years now. the 7dry dsg is nasty, the clutch needs to be replaced very often, whichbis extremely expensive.
Water pump is trash as well, go after market water pump if needs replacement it holds much better
How to activate mirror link
Awesome car, i have the same up for sale my second PGTi...but i gotta do adult things now😢
Did you sell it?
@@molefemashiane Yes, sold
@bongadlamini414 guys, I have a polo 6c and also get the "move shifter to P" often, what exactly is that ? its rather annoying and concerning
Faulty sensor linked to the gearbox, just have the car inspected to insure everything is fine…
Sup bro, what's the name of the track when the video started?
Howzit, check the description, I’ve linked the song there…
Have you done downpipe on car sound fantastic it's sport mode or drive that's fats sound
Am driving polo 6r gti 2014 but never hear such sound of fats
Nope, it's stock, the 6c really sounds good.
Okay I understand tell me something myself idont play around pedal shift it's mean my Megatronic it's safe I only put on drive always
@@thokozanevincent9707 you can use the pedals bro, as long as you’re not playing around with them like most guys do to make it pop endlessly…as long as it’s used how it’s meant to be
Thanks you for advice brother keep teaching us about polo 6r gti please
@@thokozanevincent9707 for sure🙏
Man what is the title of the soundtrack?🔥
Check the link in the description, I’ve linked the song…
@@embakubmotoring ola thanks

It is
Please get us clio rs f1 for review
Soon hopefully.
@@embakubmotoringpatiently waiting.
How does he make the lights flick like that?
I don’t, it’s the difference in frame rate between the camera and LED lights…
And that's how you edit a video
🙏🙏🙏
it was supposed to be my next car but since i heard all the stories about this car!......i will distance my self from it
Exactly, it has so many problems, my friend had to sell his to get the polo 7 tsi gti
The only main issue with this car is the water pump which is a common issue that affects all EA888.3 motors such mk7 GTI/R/S3 other then that it is rock solid.
@@WaseemKhan-iu4bh what about the mechatronics? dont forget it is a dry clutch
Polo 6 gti is overpriced ,they have cooling issues, sunroof leaks and many more. Had a friend that owned it ,he was crying coz of this cars issues. Waaay too overpriced
Sadly that's true.
It's not overpriced and the cooling issue(waterpump) are common for all cars with this EA888.3 engine such as the mk7 GTI/R/S3
@@WaseemKhan-iu4bh it is overpriced my guy ,polo tsi gti for R250 -R350k is overpriced my guy
