Jesse's looking at the injury thing from a gambling or realistic standpoint, which doesn't really work here. Steve and Adam are right when they point out that opponents go after the injured body part. Jesse's defense on that about suspending the player was just funny.
Maybe the team should be required to disclose injuries, but only to the league. That’d protect the players but wouldn’t expose them to targeting. Plus that is a perfect setup for some team to perform some espionage to scout their opponents by pulling a heist at the league office.
Yo Adam be Wyld'in', the BOS@NSH game was an incredible goalie duel for 53 whole minutes. Also, Ryan Donato went to the Wild in the Coyle trade. Just thought I'd throw that in.
I think Jesse is wrong when it comes to transparency in injuries for players. Because once that player comes back. It will be targeted. It's a contact league. Discrepancy has its place.
Exactly. Hockey is a contact sport but it has far more capacity for specific, targeted contact on individuals. Teams develop playbooks on their opponents down to each player. If there’s a known recurring injury, that gets targeted in the playoffs.
Usually Jesse doesn't have bad takes but this one hits. "We should have injury transparency because we cover the sport". What? That's not even a reason.
mandating injury disclosure even partially for the benefits of gambling sounds like deeply unbalanced priorities to me, i just dont think we are entitled to private medical information (maybe that’s partially what’s grating on mitch? being in pain and unable to play is already a mental task but id be irritated too tbh in his position) and there is a history of targeted contact when an injured player returns to the lineup. jesse’s take that they should be able to take it if they aren’t injured enough to be completely taken out of the lineup and that someone who does do that would get suspended is so off and is almost too idealistic when that’s not how it would or does work in practice
The NHL Teams will never tell you the specific injury b/c if Vegas says Stone's back is fucked up, then all 31 other teams WILL target Stone's back for 82 games of the year.
Jesse, you’re missing Steve’s point about disclosing injuries. If you disclose what injury a player is dealing with and then they return to the next game, even if you remove the injury label from them, that information is now out there and a dirty player can target that injury. Removing the injury tag does not erase the existence of an injury. Example: Report comes out Rielly has been dealing with a bruised rib. He misses two games and comes back against a team like Florida. What’s stopping Nick Cousins from taking a two minute cross checking penalty (at the most) by two handing Rielly in the side and targeting that injury? In a contact and prison rules sport like hockey you have to keep that sort of info close to your chest. Can’t be telling everyone else every injury your players are going through.
...just to cheese jesse now, i want the NHLPA to work into the next CBA a ban on disclosure of specifics for player injuries by team or league staff. like if an active player wants to publicly say they got a specific injury cause someone else was a dbag, i'm cool with that. but if a player wants their health to be their business, i'm also cool with that.

The Isles do not sit back in the zone on purpose anymore.
Believe me I know you guys can’t watch every game and specifically the Isles it doesn’t make sense but yeah the boring thing is years old now and it gets annoying to keep hearing it. At least the style of game is not what it was during those conference finals runs
I wouldn't care about Mitch being bitchy at the media if outside noise didn't very obviously affect his game and get to him. I don't like it in that it signals to me that he's in his own head and that bodes poorly going into the playoffs.
I hate the whining about scheduling. If they play that Saturday it’s not enough time, but if they play on Sunday it’s “how dare the leafs aren’t on a Saturday night!”
Can’t have it both ways.

This massive torts convo... He lost a elite goalie in Carter Hart
The NHL doesn't want us to know how injured these players are for legal reasons. I think the NHL has a lot of skeletons
The leafs chocked because Carey Price is a GOD...
Rangers and Hurricanes fan here. Long Story…. Wife is a Flyers fan, so I’d love the Rangers V Flyers. I’d also love the Hurricanes V Washington cuz then you’d get the rematch of the ECF of 2018 I believe
Just a couple weeks ago wasn't Torts complaining about others throwing tantrums?
Jesse being a bit ridiculous on the injury front.
Why don't people talk about McDavid having 100 assists? He assuredly will reach that mark this season, and he'll become only the 4th player in NHL history to do that. I get assists aren't goals, but 100 is a big deal. Orr (1x), Mario (1x) and Gretzky (ELEVEN TIMES...IN A ROW), are the only players to ever do that. I know McDavid is talked about as one of the greatest of all-time already, as he should be, but the lack of talk about 100 assists is baffling to me.
LOL literally unpaused the video and Jesse brought it up. Welp....I'm an idiot. Lol
Kucherov gonna get 100 assists with more goals 🤫
Someone tell Adam Matthews has 106 points 2 season ago
Jesse is nuts - the league should not disclose injuries, which puts players at risk in subsequent games, because he wants to gamble.
