Yes, pottery is a great craft. It can be very frustrating and disappointing at times and you will never know it all but when you open a kiln and see a pot that is better than you ever imagined it could be the sense of satisfaction and accomplishment is immense. There are many ways to make a pot. You found one that did not work for you so you adapted and found another that does. Congratulations and good luck with your new studio.
Couldn't agree more with your words! Making handmade crafts is such a long journey. Sometimes we found out that some things couldn't work for us along the making process and that's okay. Pottery is not by definition a piece that is made by wheel only. Pottery can be made in any forms. I can not throw on the wheel at all. Absolutely hated it no matter how many times I’ve tried it threw the years from high school till now and I am 52. Hand building is fine but I found my passion in carving. I love drawing out a price and then carving on slabs. You found a way to make what you love by making a mold of your original design. This works. Also, congratulations on your wedding and new studio.
