When I was 15 years old I met Slash for the first time (I’ve seen him like 20 times now with his solo stuff and back with Guns). Back then I didn’t really understand how the world works, so when we all lined up to meet him and it was my turn I asked for a picture. He put it perfectly. Word for word “No, I can’t. I’m sorry. See, if I take a picture with you then I have to take a picture with everyone and it just adds so much time to this when we don’t have a lot. At least this way, every one can get something signed if they want to.” Granted he is like the nicest human being on the planet (he meets as many fans as he possibly can after shows when you know he’s tired and doesn’t really want to) and should be a model of how to carry yourself as a celebrity, but from that point on I kinda started to understand. So now when I meet people like that, including Slash. I just shake their hand and tell them that I appreciate their music. These people can’t even go to the grocery store without being bombarded by mobs of people. Some of them just don’t know how to handle it.
I know a lot of these were actually mean and rude to their fans but sometimes I get when they don't want to give you an autograph or picture cuz they just want to go home and relax after a day of work like a normal person and not get crowded by people.

The industry basically drains the life and love out of these people, reducing them to exhausted, stressed out individuals with few people to turn to for solace. So if a celeb says that they don’t feel comfortable taking pictures with someone at the moment or want to avoid any sort of attention, we should respect that. They also have bad days, and they’re also human beings with feelings and problems. The important thing is to love and empathise with one another.
