      Stop buying Nike/Jordan. There are soo many brands that drop heat for less prices. Also I've been doing sneakers for a while. How is your jordan/nike collection going to be worth anything later when everyone else has the same exact jordans nike??? It's like whips... they aren't popular until they are rare... impala ss is an example. You're welcome.

    Multiple factors: inflation and paying 210+taxes every weekend while everything else is going up just not smart or worth it. Resellers played a part when they over charged ppl 2-5 times the retail price-for shoes. A lot of us older sneakerheads are looking at the piles of kicks we have in a room just sitting and collecting dust especially if you don’t go out often. Another is the new wave of young sneakerheads with the TH-cam,IG & tik tok videos on how to cop UAs for a fraction of the price while getting the same thing.

    What you said in this video is completely true I got really in to to sneakers around 7th going into 8th grade (2015-16) at the time I really couldn’t afford sneakers so my parents had to buy them for me until I started my making my own money in high school and brought as many shoes as I wanted that’s when I realized I didn’t really wear the shoes that u brought because I didn’t have the colors to match or I just didn’t feel like put them on so I wore crocs most of the time that’s when I really stopped buying as many shoes I would just the shoe that I like and I’m not gonna spend a crazy amount anymore because when I was younger I just wanted certain shoes just to show I got them and I would pay ridiculous prices now if I can’t get them at retail or for a good price I’m good I’m grown now have bills pay and other things to invest in

    that Yeezy and Off-White period was probably one of the greatest in sneaker history. In business you got exploit and explore. exploit is do the something over and over cause it makes easy coin. explore is do new things and take risks. sneakers are defo in 2024 in the exploit. Yeezy and off-white were an explore period.

    Inflation is the biggest factor I remember growing up in High School J’s was already 190 + tax now 2 something? No one is trying to do that to and I don’t blame them. The other factor is some people just grow apart from liking things in this day and age Ps5 is the standard just video games in general always have been. The other factor is it’s all just a bunch of recycled models and color ways and that starts to get old why pay 400 something for a model you already had 4 years ago for a skyrocketed price?

  • @GiganticSky

    TikTok Reels & Shorts killed sneaker youtube reviews. People can get the same basic info on a sneaker in a 59 secs now. I still like to watch longform reviews but it's no longer most peoples go-to for sneaker content. I see reels/shorts getting 250k-1mil views when a new sneaker comes out though.
    I think another issue is the most popular sneaker silouhettes are retros (w new colorways). So most people feel like if they've seen one AJ1/ NB1906 / Samba, they've seen them all. Comparing it something like tech product reviews there's always something new/innovative to review that people have yet to see and want insight on.

    I think the high inflation and cost of living has taken away a lot of disposable income. That dampens the interest in sneakers as a whole. Nike will eventually cut production, but it was predicted that the market would slow down before Nike could slow down production. This would cause a bunch of shoes to go on sale. It’s a regular cycle.

The famous and the rich are rushing the luxury brands like chanel, dior , gucci, amiri etc etc. Jordan is not a “show off” shoe for most and i get it, i mean why spend $800 on $200 shoes when you can just get a pair of shoes from a luxury brand that are retailed at $800. people just want to look rich and thats all it is. Most dont have their own style, everyone is running around with the same $3,000 out fit

    I agree, they’re not dead. But people are hurting financially to the point where they have to be very selective, myself included. I learned to stop buying unnecessary colorways. Inflation is stupid high. Bills… bills… and MORE bills! Like you said, the price increase of Jordan’s ain’t helping either. Now resellers are moving away from Jordan brand and going to Nike SBs and NB collabs cause of hype and their limited pairs where they can easily gain more profit. We’re in a new era.

I really fell back in love in 2019 when the chase was back . Meaning you had to start putting in a little work , since then even with the reseller craze I feel the shoe world is better than ever , simply become we get to see how time moves and trends go with it .

    I’ve never seen sneakers so “mainstream” if you will. I’ve dressed the same since high school. I don’t want to see “oh you’re just another “sneakerhead”. love more people getting in the game and collecting but they won’t stick around. When a style, fad or sneaker culture starts getting this big a counter culture always will rise. It’s like ohh you’re “one of them”. I saw my boss wearing Travis lows, I asked oh you collect sneakers, are you a sneakerhead? It was like sneakerhead was a derogatory comment lol He was like no not at all. I just like all the travis scott lows. That’s all I have.” Strange times but I know my love for sneakers is different. I’ll be here till the end. It is dead bro. We let resellers and and sneaker selling platforms dictate the value of our shoes. Now, if it isnt co-signed by Tik Tok as being a hot shoe, then it “bricks.” Also - access to “rare” shoes is too easy. I remember the restoration videos for years just to have these old retros….now they have exploited all of them. Older sneakerheads loved the “where did you get those?!” culture, but now you can find whatever, whenever you want. When I saw lightning 4s become a gr, I knew it was dead.

    Hey Tony, I’d love for you to get into fashion, start reviewing popular brands, supporting small businesses and start styling them with different shoes, post sneaker rotations, and fits of the week videos, that’s what I’ve been gravitating more towards watching

    I see this as a positive thing, I’m not a sneaker head but I do enjoy being able to obtain a pair of shoes that I like rather than going to resellers. I think the gate keeping market is predatory, I think you should be able to walk into any store and buy the shoes that you like regardless of the hype.

    nike over saturated to kill the reseller, they know what they are doing. I feel like views are low now for YT bc now people can see the kicks in person now, they are sitting

    Thanks for sharing your thoughts Tony! If I may add, I think that with all the recent Sneaket releases shoes have become way to similar I mean truly we talking about these bred 4 reamagined line crazy when most of us have a version of bred 4’s and other black j’s…. Then Og’s like yourself that have been holding on to nice Deadstock exclusives, people have kicks that are similar and it also takes away some of that interest in the Sneaker market. Just thoughts….

    Naw Jordans are getting burnt out. Everything is high, a lot of releases, plus bad economy. Also, it’s a new wave of runners. New Balances, Asics, and Vermaros are bussing right now. Got to move with the times. Nike have over stimulated people with the same stuff

    With shoes being able to sit on shelves and releases dropping every other week is Good for the Consumers, not resellers because there’s no room for markup when a shoe is sitting.

    I knew this time would come. So glad I chose to pass on Jordans as a whole. It’s been a decade and a half since. I’m just now starting my Jordan collection and I’m getting everything I want. Lmao.
    I chose to do high fashion and unique sneakers back in early 2010s during peak Jordan hype. I sat there time after time watching everyone and their mama wear Jordans. Then in the mid 2015s there was a flip. Everyone all the sudden started doing what I was doing. Wearing fashion sneakers or Yeezys so I switched to Jordans and starting 2025 I’ll start wearing Yeezys everything should be rinsing and repeating by 2030 at that point I’ll be damn near 40 and won’t care to get a whole bunch of sneakers. I’ll probably rotate 10 kicks.

    Sneakers aren't dead, resell is. I think Nike producing more stock is very smart because you get the shoes in more hands of people who actually want the shoes and not limited for resellers to take all the stock of.

    I love that they’re making a lot of sneakers, I don’t have to worry about not hitting for retail. Besides the black and purple Barkleys, I’ve gotten every drop I wanted. Haven’t had to buy shit resell. I love it. What I do hate in the over saturation. There are way too many drops. But I guess buy what you want, don’t buy what you don’t want. No harm no foul.

  • @Sneakerchef17
    @Sneakerchef17 10 หลายเดือนก่อน

    Not making as many appears only works for resellers. Limited stock means more hype and more hype means that a regular ordinary guy won’t get a pair cuz everything will be back doored and botted out

  • @dguy8804395
    @dguy8804395 10 หลายเดือนก่อน

    I think part of ur views going down may be because sneakers are easily accessible and many being below retail. When the hype was higher people had to come to a channel to truly decide if they wanted certain sneakers to get it on release day… those sneakers that garner that hype are rarer now. So people can literally just go to a local spot or Footlocker to literally try on the sneaker or examine it themselves. But of course also add that to more people losing interest in sneakers because they weren’t truly into it in general (only the hype and/or money to be made)or even them starting families.

    I haven’t bought sneakers since 2021. I can’t buy Jordan’s stock price everything is at a resale price and I’m not paying over $200 through someone else. To the average person it’s impossible to get good sneakers these days.
