    That’s a meaty start

Now that you don't care, you can have a crate full of backpacks in hand. You will be able to access every inventory in the crate automatically. It makes carrying things less annoying.
I do tools on the top right, food and water middle right, alarms and sale products bottom right.
Edit: Yup, that layout would be great.

I do not want to deal with navigating several backpacks within a crate for general looting. That sounds horrible. I would need magazine tape on the backpack icons to tell them apart, haha. If the UI got sorted, sure.

@@ClosetYeti Maybe OP means that the game will automatically toss things you pick up into the correct container when you ask it to "pick up stack?" If that was the case, you wouldn't need to open up the UI to collect gubbins, but you would need to open the UI from hell to access the gubbins you want.

ya, you do need the grinder for repairing blades, but i haven't found another requisite use case for it. found that out when i randomly found an almost broken katana on a ship and i ended up having to buy a new one just to fix it. i just keep it in a box with my soldering iron and emergency screwdriver, all of which i basically never use.

Would a storage grinder be used if cloth is available? The characters' desire to use the least efficient tool for the job is problematic. I wonder if a spare toolbox on the ground would be preferred over digging through crates...

@@ClosetYeti it seems to me like they prefer what's in their inventory first. like when they suddenly run to the box to grab the screwdriver i know their drill is dead.

When you are in docking procedure, you should lower your thrust output in the other screen so your craft does not jank left and right while docking.

I think I can do that with the slider below the docking window as well - they're linked. That's also part of the problem. I'm a bit too lazy to keep moving the levers :P

So you use cargo nets as flooring in your cargo area, then is that room still airtight? Or will your cargo area need to be air locked from your essential living areas?

    • @ClosetYeti
      @ClosetYeti  15 วันที่ผ่านมา

I've just tested, and the cargo net cannot hold atmosphere. I'm not sure what tag specifically dictates your average wall and floor is airtight as most relevant-sounding tags are shared between cargo nets and floors. That said, the only benefit of an indoor cargo net versus a normal floor I can think of is lighter weight.
If you're got the floorspace for the cargo net indoors, you may as well just put whatever object on said floor. The "ground" menu cannot accept items if you're in space (unless you forcefully drop an item), which is where the cargo net shines - it provides that ground tile.

I saw something in a shop that sounds like an AI that would help with flying...Polaris? You have enough room that you could probably install it. No idea how much power it consumes. I wonder how much automation it adds and how much it reduces the effort required by the player to dock/fly. I'll buy one soon.

@@stonemanras The Polaris standard navigation console is what your starter ship has. So far, I haven't found any new nav consoles.

Is there anyway to fix the occasional * chug * I get from in game? I notice you dont really get it.

If you mean performance, I do get large stutters on and off K-Leg fairly often. Usually during larger hauling or dismantling projects that get edited out, so they may not be noticeable. The only thing I've maybe done differently than most is set ambient occlusion 4 in the video settings. I know what it's _supposed_ to be doing, but the settings don't really reflect that and can still eat a ton of GPU. Considering the file structure of the game (layers and layers of sprites laid out), a solid-state drive or m.2 drive would be ideal.

Fully agree with you that the UI is too cumbersome. I'm earlier than you with the original small ship size. I constantly forget whats in the inventories and have to have my character go around reopening everything to see whats full or not. I have a couple suggestions too.
I like your UI changes suggestions for bags/clothes. Similar to that, the following aren't really pockets. Please allow me to toggle off showing the battery and CO2 scrubber slot of my worn equipment when I press "I" and keep it toggled rather than resetting. I have to close them every single time.
I think if you have opened a storage, then the far right info section should show the contents if you scroll down. This will help us not have to remember exactly where empty spaces might still exist.
Maybe I still dont understand hauling and zones. It would be nice to specifically be able to say, Haul to zone _. I've noticed being able to set what thpe of materials could be in a zone but it still feels clunky. Like ive been storing stuff in the starting bedroom, but theres not quick way for me to assign them to haul something from the ship to the room. Unless I mess with the zone settings. Another example would let us haul material alway from meat quickly to asafer section of a derelict using a temporary zone. Then move the items later to the ship.
Then.... portable containers could also be assigned zones even though you are moving them with you. Idk.
It's not always obvious where an item can fit. Walls fit on the floor or dolly, floor pieces can go in bags and I think can stack?, some scraps/parts can go on the dolly but others cant. It's not obvious in UI without playing around and memorizing. Like put a max stack size somewhere in the info on the right. Same with object size. Also put object size for all objects in shops. Also for tools, let us see the tags for the tools in the shop and how better they are than the others.
