A neat trick i find effective. drop torps *too far inside* their activation range (inside the orange) from behind the DD so the torps hit the water basically at the stern. Since they're not active, there won't be markers alongside and no warning ping. If they look around to spot the water trails before turning, by the time they realize and shift rudder, the torps activate and hit them. If not, they get trapped between active torps going about the same speed as them and you can do what is done in the video on a second pass.

Love using my carrier torps to wreck DDs. Funniest moment though was that I had dive bombers up, spotted a destroyer and kept him lit up for my team. Made him rage quit because I kept him spotted. I knew my bombers wouldn’t do anything (German carrier) and I was waiting for my torpedo bombers to return and just kept him lit up so that he couldn’t be a pain in my team’s ass.

A tier 3 cruiser with Defensive AA, a top speed of nearly 40kt with the right commander and boosters, an extremely narrow hull which makes torp beating easy and low spotting range, along with the most accurate shell dispersion in the game. It really is the perfect carrier killer. Weaknesses, an entire citadel, low HP, and engines that conk out at the sight of an incoming shell lol. High risk, high reward.

This is nice but i think now they updated the carrier and now are almost useless you need to be at least 10 miles close to the enemies if you want to use all of your planes now they have fuel that depleats really fast

Normally it would be conducted in a pair of two flights working together. Real history in action, but hey next time you can tell your team : "Bro imma Anvil that DD."
This technique is what keeps carriers like Ark Royal a true nuisance even after the nerfs. You wouldn't believe the number of DD players who don't disable their AA when they hide in smoke. The flak tracers make them easier to find in the smoke.

yeah its not the CV that kills a DD its the spotting thats kills a DD In that case here i would have slowed down and than turned into the planes. Again its the spotting of the DD thats gets him killed 80% of the time

Saipan can drop to torpedoes and bombs per plane I don’t know why but they’re allowed to drop 2 bombs per plane
