    The alleged give an unfortunate and twisted meaning to the term "whisky brokers."
    You mentioned their London office, but I didn't get back to it. Will you address their address in the follow up video?
    Thanks for posting!

      Hi Scott - glad you liked the video - and gooid call on the London address. Essentially one of the features of this scam was that all the offices were simply virtual offices, i.e. not a physical office, just a mail address at a promiannt building. In fact, the FBI intercepted cheques going to these 'offices' and is one of the ways the scam was shut down. So watch out for virtual offices!

    Excellent video Mark and I have no doubt we will see much more of this sort of thing moving forward. These cask investment adverts have been popping up all over the internet promising great returns on premium product. Most people have no idea what they are purchasing. Many have jumped on the bandwagon only because they've recently become interested in whisky. Whisky is presented as an elite and upmarket item to many materialistic souls. You've made the point in previous videos but this brings it home.

      Hey - glad you like the video - and sorry for the broken record element to some of these videos - we just want to provide a counter narrative to the spel that is pushed out by so many firms! Fingers crossed there will be more closures of scams in the months and years to come!

      @@MarkLittler Don't worry, it's not a broken record but sound advice. People really do need to know what they are buying and, if I were them, I would physically see it and taste it. Then you need to consider how that investment will mature. Ralfy recently did a Patreon only video about the Caol Ila 8 year cask he bottled and sold to his Patreons. Very interesting break down of costs. The cost of the cask minus the various, substantial, taxes and duty. Then add bottling, labelling and marketing. Next, you need an outlet to sell it from and they need to take a cut. Finally, you have to consider the considerable investment of your own personal time, effort and wellbeing into that process. After all of that, plus the expectation of his fans and disappointment of those that didn't get a bottle (I did), his profit was about £2,000.
      Unless you really know what you're doing it's a mugs game. Well done to you and your company for providing sound advice. Ralfy's experience was an 8 year ex-bourbon cask. All that effort yielded £2,000. He's a guy that knows what he's doing but regular folk have bought into these idiotic investments without knowing anything. Cheers Mark. WT

    The whisky itself is innocent! People use whisky for their nefarious purposes but it will remain blameless and will always only be for drinking.

    question: is there a standard legitimate safe way to purchase a cask with a physical visit to the warehouse or distillery?

    • @MarkLittler
      @MarkLittler  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Sure - you just have to buy from a company that will transfer ownership. Have you seen my other video about the Scotch Whisky Assosciation guidance?

    Thanks for all your interesting videos. How to make sure the cask is in our name, since we have to pay first, in order to have the official (or not) documents sent to us?

    • @MarkLittler
      @MarkLittler  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey - sure.
      This is quite simple. Just ask before the purchase if the cask will be transferred into your name at the warehouse with a delivery order. If they try to say they will give you beneficial title or bailment etc, then that is when you know the warehouse keeper is likely to have no idea that you will be the owner of the cask.

    New viewer here, I like the content. Just one issue, the sound. Don't know why but your voice sounds muffled and the main thing I could hear clearly was the music. Had to mute the video and just read the subtitles. Keep up the content. Enjoyed the story.

    Another scam is how much scotch tastes like bourbon now. YUK! I found a couple Japanese Whiskies lately and they taste more like scotch than modern scotch, because you can actually taste the malted barley in the Japanese Whiskies that I've tried. Scotch, in my opinion, should at least have malted barley distillate flavor as one of its dimensions always!

    • @CzarnyM
      @CzarnyM 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      can you name these whiskies?

    • @Themilkmanskid.
      @Themilkmanskid. 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@CzarnyM The malted barley flavor can easily be tasted in Yoichi, Miyagikyo, and Taketsuru; the batches I've tried at least do, and those 3 are by Nikka and they are a bit sweet, but barley beauties for the price!
      The batches of scotch I've had where the bourbon flavor drowned out the flavor scotch is supposed to have(malted barley distillate and oak wood), were craigellachie 17, old pulteney 18, ancnoc 18(sweet sherry cask came through too much as well), and jura 18. I've had 14 scotches in the past few years, paid alot of money, and there was no malted barley distillate flavor in any of them except craigellachie 13 if you like a big sugar bom.
      Hope you enjoy your new found Japanese Whisky as much as i do!! CHEERS!

      @@Themilkmanskid. You do realise that a lot of Japanese whiskies aren’t Japanese at all. They are Scotch imported into Japan and stored for a certain amount of time and are then classed as Japanese. Try Arran, Glencadam, Longmorn, Daluaine or Glenallachie, all excellent.

    • @Themilkmanskid.
      @Themilkmanskid. 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@ian436 yes I did hear that some Japanese whiskies are made from spirit from Scotland. The ones I've bought, and rebought, are made entirely in japan. I'll try tastings of the scotches you suggest before ever buying more modern scotch though, because I've been ripped off enough now. Thanks for your suggestions! Must add that these days there are updates to what can be called Japanese whisky.
