Young folks think they never get OLD! But this crew of Bad Boys are all OLD, VERY OLD men. I wonder if those that are alive wonder if they could go back in time and change their behavior given the tragic outcome of some and the low outcomes of most. When we age, we reflect on the past and realize the foolishness of wasted time during youth. Great video King Klast. Keep them coming. I remember a time long gone. I was just a child but have vivid memories of those times.

For the most part, the gangs were either acting up for the camera,or being told what to do by the producer in the different scenarios as it was obvious that they were "acting",as were the other people that weren't in the gangs. Also, when the narrator said the subjects were being filmed on hidden camera(for the free transitor radio scenario),clearly there was a camera man in the room filming the "subjects". Interesting because of the time period it was filmed in,but from a intellectual study point of view that it was meant for at the time, it was poorly done.
I think you're right... but I also think the "scripted" scenes were actually recreations of the studies that they're referencing. The studies were real, but the recreations were not. They just didn't do enough to stress that the scenes were recreations, because nobody cared in those days... which is extremely interesting in and of itself. Nowadays, people desire REALNESS more than anything now... even if it's fake realness (reality tv). But anyway, these recorded street scenes were meant to illustrate the studies and social phenomena they're addressing in the piece.

In 1970(?), when I was like 16, I worked at PathMark on Bruckner Blvd. The store manager paid protection to the leader of the Savage Skulls to leave the store, customer, and employees alone. Gangs are simply "modern or neotribalism!".. Human beings have evolved to live in tribal society, as opposed to mass society, and thus will naturally form social networks constituting new tribes and in many ways break away from the collective.. Though most wouldn't consider themselves "tribal", in all walks of life we surround and align ourselves with like-minded individuals with comparative lives, ways of life, past trauma, etc, etc, etc....

I wonder how many of those buildings shown where burnt down a few years later? Are there still some old buildings that survived in the blocks that were destroyed? I've been interested in that era for a long time. I just saw "The Wolf Hour" recently and thought that was pretty good if you are interested in that era. The cheesy, and somewhat racist, movie "Escape from the Bronx" shows a lot of those burnt out buildings, some are shot on stages but some definitely shot in those neighborhoods.
