As far as the ear pro issue goes on the bump, if you cannot afford the team Wendy ballistic, would you recommend the carbon helmet from TW to mount a pair of Peltors without running into the problem of them popping off? Thanks for the great info
From my limited experience I would recommend the AMP arms with AXL adapters for either Peltor Comtacs, Sordins, or they even have Howard Leight versions; super solid and comfortable. You would also need either Unity or TW adapter plates. I tried both adapter plates and the TW ones broke right away so would recommend the Unity ones. You can do this on a regular LTP to save money. So buy list would be 1) Opscore AMP helmet arms (hardest to source) 2) AXL RAC Links for your preferred earpro 3) Unity Tactical “Platform Adapter” 4) TW helmet of your choice. Installation of the AXL rac link is the hardest part of this setup. Easier on Peltors and HLeights I think and hardest on Sordins (though I ended up using Sordins anyway cause that’s what I like/had already).
Most are level IIIA which aren't rated to stop rifle rounds at point blank range. However, plenty of these helmets have stopped rifle rounds in combat due to distance and or barriers causing the rounds to decrease in velocity. Team Wendy and Ops Core are top of the line. Team Wendy is more comfortable with slightly less customizable rails while Ops Core is slightly less comfortable with slightly more customizable rails. Pick your poison.
Depends on the range and the round but there’s a decent chance it’ll deflect a round if it hits at a glancing angle or is fired from a long range. Still might bash your skull pretty bad.
I don’t think you gave bumps enough credit. I run the TW Exfil bump, I have it setup the same way yours is. You can throw it around all day, I’ve never had earpro pop off or have experienced “flex”. I can speak for the TW anyways… it’s a SUPER SOLID platform, you get an integrated metal Wilcox mount for your NV, super quality construction etc. Ballistic will not stop direct impact. Not to say it doesn’t serve a purpose. But if you’re simply wanting to run nods and mount all your stuff… you can definitely do it with a bump. Other than that, great vid!
So I’m just getting into nods. At the range I’m currently just wearing a ball cap and sordins. I have no need (or want) for a ballistic helmet. Don’t want to have to buy and then carry around a bump a second set of ear pro on it. It more about the bulk of extra stuff to pack and carry. Any advice?
What’s wrong with the $50 bump helmets on Amazon? Seems like a plastic hat is a plastic hat. How much better can the $400 ones be? There’s a lancer tactical bump helmet for air soft and I’m not noting anything much different on it from the team Wendy ones.
Yeah, I dont get it neither. How many people even get chances to see home invasion? Let alone armed invasion. If you do, that means you need to move to a better area, and you definitely cannot afford 1k helmet. And there wont be any civil war.

I'm gonna say what I think. The (general) reason to get a bump is purely to have a method of running night vision at lesser cost and greater comfort than a direct headmount or a soft headmount. Because those fucking suck. The other benefit of a bump helmet is that it provides blunt impact protection. You might choose it over a ballistic helmet if you have a neck injury or something (that's what garand thumb said in one of his videos anyways) For ballistic helmets, you could buy a $400 ACH and leave it bare if your concern is actual bullets and not much else. Maybe you just expect to shoot and get shot at in it, and you throw on some earpro. of course you can also throw on the NOD, headlamps and other gear, though you should probably keep as much as you can on the body. Also Ballistic helmets you should get ready to be raped in the wallet because one that isn't going to backface deform your skull in is either that $400 ACH that sucks to wear or your wallet's gonna have to grab its ankles.
