Hi Rich,i also quit my job as an OFW nurse for 18 years.It was indeed a very hard decision to make..I love my job as nurse no doubt but I love my family the most...I want to spend more quality time with them.
Im glad I did that decision I can pursue other things in life..

Good you quit before something uneventful happens to you. I worked as a physical therapist abroad and also workload plus working environment was no longer healthy for me. I ended being sick, really sick. So, I had to quit my job and went back home here, Philippines, to recuperate. Now, still here and still with illness but alive and with family. You're right no work is worth it if that will mean not seeing your family and/or would cause you your health. God bless you Rich and good luck. A positive wise decision indeed and you are a strong person who know your worth. We all need mental health of our own to look after before providing care to other person’s life... Your positivity inspires more Filipino nurses including me who felt support system from work are not being addressed accordingly... It happened to me as well in the UK. Now I am home with my full support of my family in the Philippines for almost 5 years and moved forward. Our close family ties has probably something to do with our decisions in life. Everybody needs a break especially frontliners after this hard Pandemic. You’ve done enough hard work and you are worth having a good vacation to spend with your family... i can relate about asking for vacation from my work as a carer dito sa UK,this year nag decide akong i will resign kapag hinde ako pinayagang umuwe ng december for 2 months kasi gusto kong mag pasko at mag bagong taon with my family,dumating n kasi ako sa point na i dont want to make again a decisions na mamili between my job and my family,But thanks GOD,pinayagan ako ng manager kong umuwe ng dec till jan.
I can relate to that, many of us nurses are being abused more work but no increase in salary, no promotion at all. I think its a good decision,make time also for yourself anyway meron ka naman income pa.

I cannot agree more! Since the pandemic lahat ata ng pwede na ipagawa sayo ipapagawa even if you know to yourself that you shouldn't be doing this. We understand understaff tayo and we need to help each and every one but sometimes it takes a toll on you na parang hnd na tama to, you want to help that's why we are in the healthcare industry but sometimes you will feel na it's not right anymore. I'm on the verge of quitting also but still thinking about it. I love my job but i need to love myself more. Baka need lang tlga ng pahinga. Very much relate sa situation mo, i also just quit my job. I love my job pero before I quit i considered din kung alin ba mas importante your job, mental & physical health (obviously pinili ko yong 2 of the latter) kahit wala pang nahanap na job nag quit n rin muna ako. Parang sasakyan lang overloaded di ako maka unload ng sakay kaya sarili ko na lang ini unload ko as in nag resigned ako 🤭 taking time as in solo ang schedule ng oras, spend quality time with family and go to travel. Makahanap din ng job later pero make sure yong job descriptions kaya gawin ng isang katawan ntin para life is balance.

Last year I also made a big decision which involves a good amount of money. I worked as a private school teacher with 10k+ salary, I handled subjects from Grades 5-12 and was the Grade 12 adviser. I came to a point where I can barely get up from bed due to exhaustion. I was always crying every day from time to time which I thought is not healthy anymore. My anxiety was eating me. I wanted to quit immediately but was bound with my 3 year contract. So, I had to pay 100k for breaching my contract. I regret the amount of money I paid but the sanity I had after quitting was worth it.

Health and family really comes first at the end of the day kasi companu will just find someone to replace you, pero yung family natin if tayo ang nagkasakit di nila tayo mapapalitan. 😅😏
Relate talaga ako. Sobrang sipag ko talaga sa work to the point na na nabuburn out ako. Thank God nakita ko to, siguro ito na yung time na hindi ko need e burn out yung self ko, self-love kumbaga. Di muna ako mag resign kasi magsi save ako cguro need ko lang mag think na ang lahat ng work hindi natatapos in 1 day. So chill, breathe and enjoy pa din.
correct ija, balanse lang di kulang di sobra...after 36 years ko lang naisip ng super napagod ako and not being appreciated, ngayon I just made sure I've fulfilled all my duties and responsibilities at pag sobra na I reached out to others for them to step in...I always have to remind myself na I can't do everything nor save the world. Same here Canada understaffed but the hospital not hiring .... kaya iba nag quit at transfer sa ibang provinces .... it's a good decision kase kung understaffed more responsibilities at prone sa error ... nurses is in demand for sure transfer na sa Australia.....

You guys were lucky you have the freedom to ditch your noble jobs looking back on how you were bravely took remote assignenment when you were starting just to get hold of that job and eventually get a NZ residency, i hope it will open another path for aspiring nurses who also wished to have a permanent job abroad and Residency, paano pa kya ang mga nurses natin sa Pinas na kumikita ng 15-20 thousand pesos and the same stressed and hardwork minsan kinakapos pa, sometimes we have to be grateful for the chanced that we had, i hope you enjoy your time w/the fambam and more lakwatsa w/the gang
