Again, I try to stay objective, just because I like something doesn't mean everyone else will, but it checks all the boxes objectively, so yeah, this one definitely hits for me, and I think it will for most other people too!
Finally a content Creator who EARNS their THUMBS UP!!! LOVED the video from 9:57 on...while a lot of the stuff you do is great Luke...hearing your thoughts...even if you prefer reading a script over video later is fine...but you have so much bowling knowledge that just hearing you while your bowling and talking the ball....was so helpful in understanding what to expect from this ball....IM SOLD.!!! Thanks!!!
It's both, it's easier for me to collect my thoughts and deliver a coherent and pointed review rather than ramble for 30 minutes while I"m bowling, plus that's what my viewers want and are used to . . but obviously there's a lot of value in the live on lane context and feedback too, so that's why I do both. It'd definitely be a whole lot faster and easier to just do voice coms, but I think it's better doing both.
I've already watched several reviews on this ball. Based on your review I will definitely be buying this ball. Im a lefty too, so I get the "always bowling on the fresh" comment. I appreciate your work brother.
Right on Lefty!!! I so enjoyed this review being a fan of Hammer stuff and the BW's in general. I have the 2.0 solid and what a awesome ball and this one looks to compliment it to my eye nicely. Thank you Luke fantastic review.
I would fall in love with this ball but I hated my kinetic kobalt. I can tell this ball is special but as a huge radical fan im holding out for a conspiracy with the hk22c+ pearl in March. Thats if they make it. Also waiting for a GB5 hk22c pearl. Im assuming thats what B7 will make next.
I just said it looked like the Cobalt, I didn't say it acted like it. This one will be around for a while I'm sure so waiting a couple months to see what else comes out isn't going to hurt anything.
That intro lol. Ball is so sexy though. And Effect five was good but that core is too situational for me. Gas mask is just special. I really want the giant cobalt/big boy theorem. That shape is so good so often so a stronger version is welcome.
Sorry but I was 2 days late Luke( 1 of your fans lefty) man I can’t remember but in the first time I saw your videos was 5 years ago and you helped me out (knowledge) how excited you are about this ball’ I’m sold on watching your video on the new therm/spider. Your excitement is awesome
The only Widow I didn’t get along with was the Pink Urethane. I’d be willing to try it with a 78 cover though. I’m gonna this one. It’s a no brainer. Good to see you got a lot of comments and likes on this one. Have you ever bowled with Sciatic problems? Trying get ready for a huge sweeper in Vegas next weekend. $10000+ total pot and I already bought in.
@ I was bowling 240’s until my back tightened up. Between you and the Mark Baker circle, bowling good became really easy. BTW our wives very similar, your opening comment made me laugh,
Honestly most of the newer B7 stuff just feels like stronger/better versions of what Storm used to feel like. Like the Theorem is a stronger Astro PhysiX for example, this is just an even stronger version of that.
@@d3f1anc3 Dude, HK22 is a game changer. If you want strong backend any of these clean HK22 balls have it in spades. SPI doesn't really have anything to compete. Vaporize, this new Hammer, Theorem, Effect. They're all great balls and I don't see anything in the SPI catalog that gives the same shape except maybe the attention star or the VEBO. If you want a symmetrical core, Track Stealth Hybrid is a hidden gem with the same cover as the Theorem. All are very adjustable with surface.
I know right? Like call me a hype man or whatever, but I did qualify it at least. If this isn't ball of the year, we're in for a great year. Just no other reasonable way to call it without sounding like a hipster or a hall of fame voter that never votes someone in first ballot out of principle.
To their credit, most ball reviewers are just calling things like they are now rather than trying to hype stuff up, and yeah I haven't heard a bad word and I'd be surprised if I did. This is just every league bowler's wet dream kind of ball really.
@@LukeRosdahl Sounds like a good choice then, YAYYYY! Of all the reviewers I watch, you and Brunsnick influence my decisions most, THANKS! Ooops, forgot Ron Hickman CTD and JR Raymond too.
I think my problem with the effect is the forwardness. Feels like it's a lot of over under for me at times, maybe something more continuous like the mania would be a better version of a 'pearl asym type ball'? I know you said you don't match up with the effect and this looks awesome for you so maybe id be in the same boat. Id like to hear your thoughts and anyone else who is reading this
Do you feel there is enough difference between this and the Beyond Infinity to carry both. I really appreciate your knowledge and unbiased reviews/comments. Thanks!
I'm really thinking about this one. As you know I throw mainly spi products. I'm a 2 handed righty about 14-15 mph on the screen. How would this compare to the reality check?
Hmm - been waiting all year for the BW 3.0 Hybrid, I guess this is the new widow. Loved the 2.0 H but didn't really like the BW 3.0. As much as I thought I'd be excited for this, I'm kinda meh. I already have a Vaporize, I don't see much difference in the shape. Also throwing Stealth Hybrid which is a touch earlier and more rounded shape than the Vaporize. I skipped the Theorem and the new Theorem Pearl. I just picked up a Criterion and Physix blackout but they're pretty early and smooth. I still throw my BW 2.0 H at times but its got a lot of games on it and despite a detox and resurface it's not as quick off the spot like it used to be. The 2.0 H was fantastic for me as it read in the midlane. I'm gonna hold off on this one and just wear out my Vaporize which is getting the most use these days, then maybe look at picking up this new widow in the late summer. Brunswick is just putting out a ton of great balls -- Pure Envy, The One Reverb, Vaporize, Mesmerize, Stealth, Theorem Pearl -- its hard to choose.
Yeah that's fair. I wouldn't carry both this one and the Vaporize either, definitely in very similar territory. Good yes, but that also means quite a bit of overlap unfortunately. Means not throwing a ton of good balls that deserve to get thrown just because something matches up a smidge better.
Yep. I think that's partly colors and the camera. Camera always makes everything look shinier than it is, and these colors despite being darker are really vibrant, so it IS definitely shiny, it's just not any extra shiny than any of their other stuff.
If I wanted something between the OG Attention Star and the Extreme Envy - my strong shiny asym slot - What would the pros and cons of This vs the Origin? I have an Eternity in that slot right now but it may be on its way out towards the end of the year
The Origin might fit better, while I think the Mania is stronger than the Star, I think they're going to feel pretty similar and you're still going to be fairly far away from the Extreme. The Origin would hit the middle of the Star and Extreme difference better I think.
I have a question I hope you'll be willing to answer. I have a Widow 3.0 and love it (have it laid out as 70x4x35). I've wanted to get an XCell because it seemed a very close Alpha Crux replacement...but then I saw the Origin and thought it would be a better choice because of stronger continuation and drive on the backend. So is this as strong as the Origin and as continuous? Also, what might you think of me using a 70x3.5x20 layout on this compared to the Widow 3.0? I get 250 +/- 25 on revs; throw around 14.5 mph; my PAP is 5 1/4 over and 3/4 up. I ask that because I lost my former PSO and the new one's hesitant to recommend a different layout: I saw the above layout recommended by Radical's video on the Innovator, and they said "this is a great layout for lower-speed, lower-rev bowlers." Any thoughts?
If you're trying to replace the Alpha Crux, the X-Cell is definitely the much closer ball, the Origin is stronger and definitely a lot sharper, so not really sure why that would come into the conversation there. I think this one is a little cleaner and weaker than the Origin though. 3.5 starts pushing the danger zone on layouts, typically from 2 1/2 to 3 1/2 is no no land, so I hesitate getting quite THAT low even for bowlers that need all the help they can get. 4 is about as low as I want to push something, but this ball is clean and sharp enough that you could probably get away with it.
This one is definitely quite a bit sharper. I think they're the same strength, Ghost was a little heavier rolling and more tumbly, this one is a lot more of a clean and responsive look.
Typically. Usually want to do this when the ball seems like it's jerking too hard down lane and giving up, but feels like it's the right ball to be using, or feels like it's the right look for what you want but just is maybe a little too strong or sharp.
Luke, I think you sold me on this one. I take your reviews very seriously because we are both lefties with similar styles. This looks to be something I can move to after my Eternity Pi!
Similar strength and response, the Coil is just more of a defined arc that's directional rather than the rounder more continuous shape of this one. Definitely in similar territory tho.
Strength overlap for days, but the shapes are quite a bit different, so it really depends on what kind of overlap is bad for you. I typically carry similar strength balls with different shapes, so strength overlap isn't a big deal for me, but shape overlap is.
A video chat would make this much easier and quicker to explain my struggle with this, but i understand why you can't. Anyways, I am a one hand righty 16mph off hand about 330rev 175avg using 14lbs. Im no pro and dont need 10 different balls. I'm looking to keep a three ball arsenal. I have a Xcell, Ion Pro, and Ocean vibe. It just stems like SPI is not right for me. I have to keep adding surface to them every other league night. A lot of balls change dramatically, going to 14. The Xcell is significantly weaker at 14. The core numbers of the black widow are very close between 15 - 14, and the Xcell in 15 is close to the black widow but different cover stocks. This is how bad it is, I average 165 Xcell keeping it at 2000, 177 Ion Pro keeping it at 2000. And 175 Ocean Vibe according to Lanetalk. I don't want to alter the surface every other league night, and if i don't it im slightly right of where i stand with OV on fresh. I don't feel right with SPI. Sorry to rable on. Would the BW Mania be a good fit for my highest ball? Looking at GB5, Primal Shock, or Venom shock as mid ball "benchmark". I'm definitely keeping my OV. What is your recommendation?
I've done video chats before, I don't advertise them really but if you're interested we could set something up. Honestly I'd say start with a Venom Shock, it's going to feel like it reads the lane better, it's stronger than its price point and still hangs out really well with lane shine on it.
I did compare the Theorem Pearl to it towards the end of the review section, so if you didn't make it that far in the video, might go back and catch that.
Yes, for me it's a little cleaner and weaker than the Effect. I did have the comparison between the two at the end of the video in case you didn't get that far.
I have to disagree on your price comment. Absolutely on the Widows, but absolutely not on something like the Effect Tour or Envy Tour Pearl...$195 for a low diff, sort of benchmark spec small assym. Ebonite is the inexpensive brand. Hammer and Brunswick are the most pricey for B7. Motiv is the most expensive and SPI seemingly having every assym at $200 undriled is pricey too, but Motiv seems to be the only brand rocking $200 undrilled symmetrics
I don't know. Ocean and Arctic Vibe are super cheap, Scorpion Strike and Low Flare, etc., compared to the performance and what they match up to from other brands. Sure they have some "normal" priced stuff too, but as a rule, I think the highest number of super bang for your buck balls still come from Hammer.
I'm really thinking about this one. As you know I throw mainly spi products. I'm a 2 handed righty about 14-15 mph on the screen. How would this compare to the reality check?

Depends on what surface you keep your X1 at, but if you keep it sanded, I'd say yes.
Usually I keep the X1 at 1000 since I'm bowling College stuff. Great long pattern ball. Excited that I might get to throw this in with it.
How do you think this is compared to the Theorem Pearl
I did compare the Theorem Pearl to it towards the end of the review section, so if you didn't make it that far in the video, might go back and catch that.
Am i tweaking or does it look like a slightly earlier RST X2?
Nah I think you're spot on there. I loved my X2

@LukeRosdahl would you say this one is more usable?
Not necessarily, I liked my Vaporize quite a bit too
Compared to the Vebo?
Definitely stronger and faster, but pretty similar clean and round shape.
This will be a little bit longer than the effect, right?
Yes, for me it's a little cleaner and weaker than the Effect. I did have the comparison between the two at the end of the video in case you didn't get that far.
