Everyone always judges BART for its flaws, but truth be told, would you rather spend $7-10 and get there in 25-30 or spend $55 and get there in an hour?
@@kollapsiblelungs some of the trains are a bit grimy, the trains are notoriously loud in the tunnels, and not every station is as nice as the airport one

BART SFO is a nice station, but tourists don't be fooled. The rest of BART stations are not as nice, and some are dirty, and worn out where you need to trip of transients to get to your trains. I wouldn't say the fare is cheap to go downtown. I think it's now close to $10, which is OK if you're traveling alone, but if you multiply that by a group or family, it can add up. Last time I took BART from SFO, I don't think you could buy a reloadable Clipper Card that can be used also on other systems (like MUNI), just BART tickets. I think this is something being overlooked by BART, since large amounts of tourists will need one once they start traveling around.
I just went through SFO and saw you can indeed buy reloadable Clipper cards that work on BART, Muni ferries, Caltrain, etc., while you're at the airport. I also noted the stations and trains are fairly clean - certainly cleaner than they were before the pandemic. I hope BART keeps that up.
No, but not far. Get off at Powell(nearest station), back to the ground, you will find cablecar Powell line, get onboard($7) or walk along the track, , Union Square will on your right side after you cross the Geary St.(3 blocks). And you can also get off at Montgomery, back to the ground, take Muni bus 38 or 38R($2.75 for cash, Clipper card will be cheaper), get off at Powell St., Union Square will on your right side.
The Powell station is the closest BART gets but they are opening a new station in 2019 for the San Francisco Muni at Union Square that will be connected to the Powell station.
Cristian Martinez To buy a Single ticket from SFO to Powell St. Station (Union Square) it's $8.95 each way! I would say it's more efficient than the CTA Blue Line, but going from downtown to O'Hare is a flat fare of $2.25 and going TO downtown from O'Hare is $5 (O'Hare is the only station that charges $5 to enter) but it's a Flat Fare! BART is distance based which makes it confusing.
BART works the same way with a Clipper card. Paper tickets are for infrequent users. The Clipper card is an RFID card that works on just about any transit in the nine county region around SF Bay.
I'm trying to find a video that will show my 16-year-old niece how to take BART from SFO, and this video isn't it! I suppose I can show her from 1:34 that there should be a nice lady to help her.
+LauraMorland Okay, now that I've watched the rest of the video, I think that suggesting that somebody watch starting from 1:34 will be very helpful... providing that nice lady is there to help!
I may be taking BART for the very first time in over 30 years to actually visit SFO so just need to know, if I get on at eiter the Concord or walnut Creek Station, which is the Yellow line if correct, I just stay on that train all the way to the airport is that correct, meaning no transfers are needed, and once I get to SFO, do I need to use that other train system I saw in another video or can I walk straight to the airport from where the BART trains stop? The other thing I needed to know if I may please, from either the concord or Walnut Creek Stations, about how much would it be to purchase a round trip Ticket cause that would be the way I would be doing it that day? Thanks so very much.......
Andrew Silva no you wouldn’t have to transfer as the Antioch to SFO/Millbrae line can take you straight to the airport from Walnut Creek it Concord. Round trip from Concord is $24.20 and round trip from Walnut Creek is $23.10. If your flight is international, the check in is just a short walk from the exit. If your flight is domestic, there is some more walking or you can choose faster alternatives depending on the time.
Yes, if you get on at Concord or Walnut Creek, you stay on the train. The BART station is located in the International Terminal, so if you are going there, walk straight out of the station and you’re there. For domestic terminals, you have to use the SFO AirTrain.
No. To get to six flags in Vallejo, get off at Embarcadero, take the Vallejo ferry from Ferry Building to Vallejo, then take Solano County Transit 85 to Six Flags.
Reminder to all San Francisco tourists: Don’t EVER stand on the left side of an escalator. The left side of an escalator is for walking ONLY. If you’re in the mall it doesn’t matter but if you’re taking muni or bart then don’t EVER stand on the left side of an escalator.
Why do I get the feeling that The Simpsons' Bart Simpson edited the video? Or at least this feels like a typical The Simpson infomercial parody? "30 minutes… same as a cab" (1:02) Should've added the "but with a lower fare" line on the text. Unless they are affraid of being clobbered by the Cabbies. "Everyday BART SFO Passengers prevent the release of 120 tons of Carbon Dioxide" (3:58) Honestly, this made it as if the BART passengers are holding their flatulents while riding the train. Should've said "system" instead of "passengers". Unless it said "system" in the first place and a REAL 'Bart Simpson' edited it. "16 billion visited the bay area each year" (1:29) Or around ~44 million each day. Or 11 million 2 round trips each day. Or ~1 million round trips each hour. Okay… Their math. Honestly, the BART system probably is better at _making money_ than Springfield's Mayor Quimby. Hmmm… Maybe that's why he wanted that Springfield Monorail Line… No Monorail song is needed.
ha SFO station is probably one of the least used stations on the entire system. there are 3 tracks at SFO station but only 1 is usually used as only as there is usually only one train in the station at any given time. he says they save a gallon of gas using BART. but from SFO TO downtown its $7+ on average. how is that cheaper then a gallon of gas at $2.599?
It's the crappiest way to get to SFO. See my recent comment for reasons why. But you're right. It's underused because it's expensive, dirty, loud, and unsustainable with its frequent fare hikes, six-figure pay for its employees, and cushy pensions. Explains why it's $12 each way from the east bay.
I used to ride BART but it was too dangerous. And officials hide crimes. I used to think they'd hire more security but they never did. I hear it's the same way today. Nothing is worse then being trapped on a train while thugs abuse you or someone else and there is no help in sight.
....how often do crimes happen in a BART? i mean, do passengers get hassled by other unruly morons all the time? which stations usually have potential troublemakers?
Easy money for those that own it. But actually not worth the money you pay to ride it. The only ones that win are the owners. It functions as a train but it can do better, much better.
We need more people like Connie Rainey.
..yup, i hope she stays safe out there.

It's not really the gallon of gas that you save in getting to the city (SF), it's really parking costs in time and money.
I recently moved to mesa Arizona I used to live in Castro valley California an I used Bart for many years it was great to get around
Thanks for uploading I got a lot information
...i will use this to get to San Francisco when i get the opportunity to go there.
Finally since Nixon years in office, they finally have new trains on the tracks!
There are new ones coming but most of the trains are from the early 70s
If we have like this in Lagos Nigeria, will be a very good thing
BART's run length does like the WMATA metrorail.

does it take you directly to union square?
Shawn Afshar Yes!
Pretty close to Union Square, but you'll have to walk

It’s only three blocks from Powell Street.

Try getting the London underground a victorian system (and still partly structured) tube nettwork.. Then tell me again if this feels unsafe :')
I quite agree...and will be sampling the BART at around this time tomorrow :-) Go RAIDERS
Don't other cities have reusable fare cards like Chicago's Ventra?

The Ventra is much more efficient, just scan it and go. I don't even need to take it out of my wallet, it still scans it.

The Hop Card in Portland, OR is very easy with day and monthly fare caps.

Bart is a very confusing system for foreigners, ask stuff for help is always the best idea.

hey he's so. cute in that picture😃😃😃😃
BART to SFO does take about the same time as a cab, but it’s not 30 min round trip from downtown, it’s 30 min one way.
I thought that was a poor choice of words as well.
Does this take you to six flags discovery kingdom ?
No. To get to six flags in Vallejo, get off at Embarcadero, take the Vallejo ferry from Ferry Building to Vallejo, then take Solano County Transit 85 to Six Flags.
It is SUPER FAST!!!!

They there 3 track me I see platform 4
Say
Now you can take the Purple Line to Milbrae
Except on weeknights and Saturday. Antioch line goes there during those times.
i'm going to dc this winter but im nit taking the bart train :_-(
magiccat877 h
The easiest way to go.
Still not the safest way.
they never said it was the safest, but still its very safe to ride bart, There has NEVER been a bart crash ever except for ONE derailment.
No need to, skeet! It is the safest way to go. Your car will crash before Bart by a huge stretch.
..why is it not the safest? what do you mean by it?
