Newer stuff from dem bois and 3d printing patreons feels a bit over sculpted. This guy just has a presence and a stillness he wouldn’t have with swirling smoke spirals around his arm and posing on a diagonal rock.

Such a cool classic model- reminds me of a WD battle report they did when this guy came out re fighting the Battle of The Last Alliance, which was hilariously silly how it played out: The Elves and Men killed all of the Orcs, only for ya boi Sauron to Rambo his way through the entire Good army by himself, claiming the battle for the forces of Evil XD
I do love some Chucky metal miniatures, my entire uruk hai scouts army is all metals and I love moving them around the table , plenty of varnish to stop paint flaking off is key through with metals.
God that is a beautiful sculpt, great job bringing it back to life! I remember "painting" metal LOTR minis like this when I was about 5 years old, really brings back the memories!
Loving these. Really wish I had a bunch of these old minis. And having started minis with metal minis as the only minis available, I have to say I miss them. And the heft was always a great thing about them. Thanks for sharing sir.
I use a similar technique for gold and silver dragons. I use a brown base for the gold though. Super simple, but really effective. My one tip is, if you have silvers from multiple brands check them next to each other, you may find one is lighter and will be great for those spot highlights. I find vallejo is brighter than pro-acryl, so use that for my highlights. Great video as always man!

If any model should be made out of metal then you'd have to think the original dark lord himself (don't @ me about Morgoth) clad entirely in dark iron would be the one.

Man not gonna lie this channel has really gotten me back in to painting. I'm not the best but I'm excited to try some new techniques and have fun with it.
I got my start in 2009 off WarmaHordes metal minis, black reach and skull pass were on the shelves, and you really nailed one if the aspects I loved. The weight and the chunkier stylized sculpts. There's a tactile feedback from how heavy they are and just enough detail for the important bits to be seen at arms length. I always coveted the triple weight chess set the chess club coach had when I was a kid so thats probably an influence
Simple color scheme, but it turned out great. I love metal miniatures. The old GW sculpts are nice, same with the War Zone and old Heartbreak minis. North Star Military Figures have some nice metal minis for their games, especially Frostgrave and Stargrave. Reaper Miniatures has a ton of metal minis, sci-fi, fantasy, and everything in between. Old style sculpts and new ones. I have a cabal of demons for Reign In Hell that are based around old school D&D demons from Reaper. They have that 1980s - early 1990s look, which just feels right for a game where demons are running around beating the living crap out of one another. And bets part is, the minis (even the metal ones) are really affordable (which is nice when you're gaming on a budget).

Lovely mini, I remember being slightly irked when all the LoTR stuff started displacing 40K in my local GW store (I was clearly an idiot) because looking back these minis were great. And hey are the Gunpla hanging out around your workspace a sign of things to come?
"Held together with toffee" Flashbacks of me trying to put an old metal Abaddon together using way too much superglue so it didn't bond and he ended up with a super glue bracelet on his sword arm. I also resorted to using UHU glue to try and put it together that ended in his trophy racks looking all webbed up. Thinking back I'm betting I just got one with lots of mould release still on it because I sure as hell didn't wash it before assembly.
Great guide. I used a similar technic but instead of silver i used blue as a midtone amd black lotus for my contrast. What type o dark metalic woyld you suggest foe this color scheme. Iaedbelger ok or do i need somwthig darker.
I've always thought Sauron was treated unfairly in the books. He was my favourite character. Just to name some of the good things he did, he: Provided employment opportunities to marginalised communities (orcs, trolls and Easterlings). Revitalised the Mordor and Mirkwood economies with extensive building projects. Famously including Barad Dur and Dol Guldor. Established diplomatic relations with other national leaders in Middle-Earth through gifting jewellery. He even made them by hand which is heartwarming. While he was an authoritarian leader, he really innovated by introducing meritocratic reforms that promoted based on performance rather than nepotism. Suck on that Gondor and your stupid oligarchy. Had his own hobbies (really liked his arts and crafts). And for all he did, Sauron got unfairly assaulted, lost some fingers and had his possessions stolen by some old guy and his son.
Tony did a great job today! Hector, not so much. My old man has the biggest LoTR collection in Australia, built and painted fills a 10'x6' board will spill over from mamuks and dragons.
High workrate and sound technicals? Dave Meltzer gives this minus five stars due to not enough ring time given to the reigning, and defending, champion of Middle-earth, Helf and Saftee Phrog! 😉
Yeah, I cleaned a load of 6mm white metal tanks and the turrets were held on with evo stick.. 'Toffee' like it. Take a look at Mithril miniatures in Ireland.. And please don't shout at me.......... When you do.

Sometimes it’s one bad fit and too much super glue and it’s all over haha. Especially with UHU glue. That stuff is a nightmare!
