When Tony is actually enthused and putting energy into the product he is a great commentator. He wasn’t quotable or with a big personality like the King or Jr but he could call a match and keep things humming along with no awkward silence. When he clearly doesn’t care or is dialing it in like he does now in AEW though he is terrible.
Tony was actually great in the 80's and the early 90's. He just started to shut down once he was sided with Heenan and WCW's booking became dumber and dumber. There's a noticable change with him starting in 1999. Ross on the other hand, was completely atrocious in WCW. Not only would he never ever shut up about fucking american handegg, but once he was teamed with Ventura, it became obvious just how massively uneducated and clueless he is, once the subject isn't pro wrestling or american handegg.

Also in response to the Roman Reigns love fest....why I dont like him was booking. The bloodline was great....until it wasnt. Until it was dragged out way too long and presented the same finish over and over and over again
