  • The Australian cropping system exhibits significant volatility to climate and environmental fluctuations. Our research investigates the application of remote sensing in enhancing productivity and sustainability in Australia's dryland cropping systems. Our study encompasses an examination of recent advancements in earth observation, emphasizing its capacity to capture both spatial and temporal variations in growth patterns across pixel-field-farm and regional scales. Through our showcased case studies conducted across Australia, we unveil the dynamic spatial and pattern changes underpinning the evolution of contemporary cropping systems within an ever-shifting environment.
    Dr Yan Zhao is a dedicated agricultural systems researcher, specializing in the use of remotely sensed information to uncover complex spatial and temporal patterns and to advance earth observation techniques and modeling. He is an integral member of a multi-disciplinary predictive agriculture research group led by Associate Professor Andries Potgieter at QAAFI.
