Daniel is far from ordinary! I had the pleasure of meeting him about four years ago in Chicago. I was at a wedding and none of the guys in the party knew how to tie their bowties. Daniel George had created all the tuxedo’s for the wedding party. It was a Sunday and his office was closed but the service got in touch with him apparently en route to brunch. He postponed his brunch plans and arrived in front of the hotel in his Rolls-Royce with a buddy and the two tied all of our bowties and gallantly drove off. We still talk about it to this day. The humor and kindness was over the top. It was a real superhero moment!
When I reach my target weight of 180 pounds, currently 188. I'm celebrating with a custom made suit. It's been a long hard journey but the finish line is tantalisingly close, as coming up 9 years ago I was over 300 pounds. So not far to go.
Mr. George impressed me completely. He knows his work in and out to include materials and sizing. I never had a suit tailored from top to bottom so I can imagine how much detailing is required to ensure the suit is fitted to perfection.
I was one of those guys who got his first bespoke suit from Daniel when he made the tux for my wedding. It changed my perspective on formalwear forever. Fewer pieces of higher quality is my mantra now. While the initial investment is higher (comparatively), you'll more than get that value back over time. You just wear a suit made for you differently than you would one off-the-rack. And, while he's clearly up on trends, he also does an amazing job at explaining the rules that stay evergreen. Daniel makes you feel like a VIP when you walk in. I promise you, he didn't turn the charm on for the camera. Working with Daniel, and the top-notch service of his team, is part of the experience. When I do plan on adding more staples to my formal wardrobe, they will be made by Daniel.
I’m astounded by the amount of knowledge and thankful that Daniel can communicate it with professionalism. He is confident without being off-putting. I appreciate how he works to build a lifelong relationship with his customer.
Daniel is such a nice, funny and interesting guy. No doubt that his father would be very proud of the person and businessman that he is today. Thank you for this opportunity to meet him.
Love this. Love the attention to detail, the personal touches, the gleaning of your taste and preferences, the ease of it and the fact that, in no instance, did you appear rushed. That's the way it should be. Kudos to Mr. George, and thanks for posting this!
I absolutely enjoyed this process. Quite a few pieces learned throughout. Daniel is a pro and his wit is welcome. This is what passion offers and delivers.
Thank you very much! His wit is a lot more untethered than what the video actually showed, and that made the process that much more enjoyable. Thank you very much for watching!
@@40OverFashion Been rocking with your fashion vibes for quite sometime. You've helped me in countless ways. Awaiting your finished product soon. Thanks for all that you do.👍🏽👍🏽👍🏽
Mind-blowing! I just watched the second part. The whole process - I love how Daniel and/or his colleagues are with you from start to finish and are open to suggestions! That’s A+ quality customer service!
Hi Jon thanks for sharing this valuable info. It is very much appreciated. On a personal note, I started following you about a year ago and you have changed my fashion life forever; the way I dress now compared to how I dressed before has not only made me appreciate quality clothing, style and self esteem, but saved my marriage. I can’t thank you enough for what you (and Antonio Centeno) are doing for average guys like me. Blessings!
Great video! I see Daniel to be very open and personable. This is a rare trait in bespoke tailors that you normally don't see. Part of buying a custom or bespoke suit is the experience. Is spending an afternoon talking about cloths, design, colors, etc. I can tell that is the experience that you had with Daniel. Something I learn: the two best friends you can have in your life: Your Tailor and Your Barber.
John, what a great video! I am so impressed with Daniel George! He is the consummate professional, and his knowledge about making a custom suit is next level! I learned so much in this video! The attention to detail reminded me of shopping in European boutiques! I was really impressed with the entire process! This is definitely tailored clothing at its finest! Can you tell I’m excited? This process is so comprehensive, from the detailed measuring, fabric and lining selections, cap shoulders, functioning buttons, pockets, thick cuffs in the slacks, and the classic British aesthetic! Simply amazing! Daniel and his staff are to be commended for excellent service! I’m blown away!
Wow. I found this video because I’m a bike fitter (yes, bike fitting is a thing), and the most common comparison is getting a custom suit made. Everyone nods their head in understanding and agreement at that, assuming that everyone knows what it’s like. To say I’m not stylish is a huge understatement, I know nothing about having a custom suit made. The references to others in the fashion world went right over my head - to be expected. Then you got into the measuring bit and I was blown away. Asymmetry is a huge deal in bike fitting because you’re interfacing the human body to a symmetric machine. I’ve been bike fitting for 25 years, when I watch someone walk down the street I can guess at their injury history based on how they walk - I so wish I could turn that off. I’ve never considered how the suit falls on the shoulder or how buttons line up as a result of asymmetry. I am truly impressed by what I see.
I just picked up my suit from Daniel today. Great experience and I can't wait to show it off!!! I had Daniel on my initial meeting. In my 1st and 2nd fitting, I had two different staff members. Great time and knowledgeable staff.
@@40OverFashion i've had 2 company parties over the last two weeks. The suit gets all kinds of compliments...friends, friends of friends, and strangers have all told me the suit is AWESOME. I can't wait to see your suit!
Totally awesome…. Daniel rocks and he knows exactly what he is looking for into what he is going to portray upon his tailoring… he is also a man of details not just names. You can say passionate for sure… you can say fun… but very … very serious on his craft.
His demeanour commands respect. Also has a great sense of humor and you can really trust him. If I could afford bespoke suit, I would want for him to take care of it.
At the age of 24, my dad took me to his Italian tailor. Throughout my life, (I'm 63) I've only had made-to-measure suits... pants with cuffs, working buttons on the sleeves (aka surgeon cuffs), side vents and padded shoulders to offset my small build. Custom suits are expensive but they make you feel like a million bucks. And, all my suits were made by tradespeople in Montréal... no offshore work... fabric almost exclusively from England but sometimes, Italian. Very nice video although for a first made-to-measure suit, I might have gone with a polyvalent dark blue.
Bought my wedding suit through Daniel. It was an absolute pleasure working with him and the suit came out better than I could’ve dreamed. Hoping I get the opportunity of buying another suit through him in the future.
Wow! I’m impressed! This video and Daniel’s passion definitely shines. Knowing about Daniel’s background helps to understand his passion which adds to the experience. Having one of this suits will always make me think of Daniel’s uniqueness in style and approach.
You are incredibly fortunate to be able to have such an amazing experience with this man and get a custom suit for free. His suits mush cost a fortune.
When you wear a well fitting suit in a color that best "suits" you, others will react to you differently. You don't have to say one word and others will stand a bit straighter, clear their throat and think twice before they say anything to you. You may not pick up on this at first, but if you wear custom suits, you will definitely notice over time. Bravo! Great video.
This was such an interesting video. I wish I had access to the quality of services you received. I visited a menswear store where a person with a tape measure actually asked me the size of my waist. I know you pay more for this level of service, but it is worth it. Daniel George seems to be truly committed to making sure you leave satisfied. I can’t wait to see the follow up video to see the end product. 👍
Daniel George!! Your menswear shop is fantastic!! Your knowledge and style of suiting blows me away. When I do visit San Francisco I will most certainly stop b your shop.
I've had several custom suits made in my lifetime but never by a tailor like this guy! I wish San Francisco wasn't so far away. Love the Burgandy suit!
Fantastic? Yes. I appreciate seeing the level of detail and the process. While it’s unlikely I’ll have a suit made this way I still enjoy seeing the exquisite craftsmanship. Thanks, great stuff.
John, I watched this last year before I stared wearing suits. Now I’m waiting for my second tailored suit so I decided to watch it again, and it’s even more enjoyable. Thanks.
What a great looking suit! Recently I’ve been thinking about purchasing a bespoke sport jacket or suit, and your two Daniel George videos have invaluable information. I’m retired and just turned 60. I would love to have a Daniel George bespoke suit.
Excellent video! I agree you really do learn so much about how men's custom tailored suits when having one made for you,if not familiar with it. The cost is much more however you are getting top notch service and quality plus you actually get to pick out how you want it customized in every detail which is awesome. Men's wear like this will last you a very longtime own a few of them myself as well even just customized sport jackets from my favorite mens wear store locally where I live that are awesome to deal with. It's a personal one on one experience that you really appreciate and for many men once you've done it this way, myself included you'll continue doing it this way. Have an awesome day and week ahead yourself.
I'm so excited for you :) I didn't know Daniel George and now I feel like I do know him a bit, his expertise is fascinating! There's nothing like having custom made clothing. I can barely wait to see you in your finished suit, I'm keeping my eyes peeled for part 2.
This was fascinating. I had no idea so many different measurements went into a suit. Thanks for the education! I can't wait to see the finished product. Oh, how I wish I still worked in a business world where men wore suits!
Ordered my first two custom suits from a local shop. Can’t wait for them to arrive. I think bought my last off the shelf suit. Great video. Daniel’s knowledge is next level.
Just watched/commented on part 2, the whole process is very cool and Daniel seems to make the entire experience very comfortable and enjoyable, thanks!
Both Part 1 and Part 2 of this series were extremely educational. I do not have a normal physique and when I purchase new clothing I know that they don't fit quite right. I have not known before what to look for and what to ask for in changes to make things fit correctly. Now I know a lot more about the topic and have a better chance of being able to ask for the correct changes. I truly appreciate the knowledge learned here in these two videos. I am alreading thinking about taking a trip to San Francisco to visit this tailor. Thank you!
Did anyone notice that he flipped a switch in his brain the moment he put on his glasses and started measuring? You can literally see he go from "artistic creativity" to "mathematical precision"
I found Daniel George 6 months ago while researching tailoring in the Bay Area. This is where i will be going to have a suit tailored for sure. Nice video John.
Hopefully next year I’ll be in Dallas at the American Bespoke Tailoring academy. I’m 45 and used to be a truck driver now I’m gonna be a tailor. 😃. Fantastic video thank you good Sir.
This is so cool watching the process! I'm going to share this will all of my couples getting married!! These are things I would never know! Thank you so much for your great content!
I only own a made to mesure navy suit that I paid under 800, and some supports jackets. This was fascinating. It's like building the man from the ground up. It must be a matter of your trust in his professionalism, attenrion to detail, and experience vs. his reputation and how in the future he will be at the top of a short list the next time you need buy even a cravat or weather you are buying a tuxedo for your wedding. I had no idea so much work went into it. It makes sense, for the cost, that you get something that expresses who you are as a man. This was a great video. I am very happy I found your channel. I am learning a lot. Thank you.
I call his demeanor one of subtle understanding. This is someone who knows the value of fabric and drape, all the important aspects of the look and feel. I really like his approach and his accommodation. This totally sells this business is absolutely necessary when in this line of business. This guy is top drawer and you will not be disappointed. I only wish I had the means. Knowing about it and understanding it’s importance does not mean you have the means to incorporate it in your own situation. A book you may want to read is called “ You are what you wear”! Try to find this book and you will understand what he was saying to you on a different level! Try it!
I'm impressed in many levels by his suits. I been fashion oriented from a young age and from my military and civilian career, I traveled extensively. So, I've got to experience fashion at an international level. What I love about Mr. Daniel George styling is that it transcends internationally and from your movement on the video. He more than understands the fabrics and the colour pallet to the individual. Also, very importantly how he analyzes your body type. All the that and more can be seen in your video. I glad I subscribed to your channel. Looking forward to part 2.
Just realized I'd only given a thumbs up but no comment. This cat is interesting (entertaining the least). The detailed measurements though - wow! His passion really comes through in everything.
This is a really cool video. Love the devices he uses to measure your back incline and slopes of shoulders. Had no idea these things existed, but totally makes sense. I think I'm more excited to see the finished product than you are. Thank you for sharing and congrats!
What an awesome video that offered a great information. I was looking at the swatches and wondering what would I pick. He showed me what to look for when buying off the rack. PS I love to cuff my slacks to.
Hi John, I would first like to say that I am a huge fan of your channel, even though I'm not even close to forty years old. I still however enjoy your advice and product reviews. My question is this, I have noticed from your videos that even as someone who went grey early on; and being somewhat lighter in complexion, you tend to wear lighter colors. Now I am neither grey or have a full of head hair, having gone bald in my early 20s. What advice would you have for someone preparing to make the transition at some point for adapting your style to match the changing of hair color.
Thanks Ryan! I actually wear dark colors most of the time and I have to tell myself to wear something lighter. With that said, the answer to your question is longer than I can comfortably cover here. The short answer is, incorporate more dark solid colors.
I’ve out for a while , with work and other things . But this was one of your best yet ! I’m a big fan of fashion , growing up in large family who’s father was a preacher. And grand father was a deacon being dressed up was my moms and grand ma job and it kinda stuck . Then spending 20+ yrs in camouflage of some type. Has now given a longing to wear nice clothing. A fitted suit maaaan fills so good . So to see a video on how to buy a high end suit sooo nice good job !
Amazing - I'm a hard to fit guy.. 44.5 chest, one hip higher up, so off the rack is a challenge, especially with alternations needed. Bespoke is only a dream ... Congrats and stay looking sharp. The question, larger guy here, what lapel and shirt collar should I go for?

OMG! That’s so awesome! It doesn’t surprise me one bit either! Thanks for the comment!
There’s about 500 TH-cam videos on how to tie a bow tie, but a bunch of grown men have to call a dude to come do it for them? 😅
Nothing better than dealing with someone that's actually knowledgeable about suits. look forward to see the finished product!

Really like seeing the process!
Thank you!
Thank you.
"Warm blooded dudes" lol this guy is great, love your channel content. Bravo
Haha Eddie!
Awesome video!
Thanks for sharing this experience!
Thank you!
Someday I want to be fussed over like that. Mr. George’s attention to detail makes me want to run to San Francisco for a suit.
Thank you! You should!
Try it!
Well said Mark! Thank you !
Just looking at the guy doing the measurement..he is such a genius.
Yes! There’s lots of really good information to be learned.
I'm impressed in many levels by his suits. I been fashion oriented from a young age and from my military and civilian career, I traveled extensively. So, I've got to experience fashion at an international level.
What I love about
Mr.
Thank you very much for commenting Ian!
Very interesting. I just got my first MTM suit and I love it. I look forward to my next one and this video will help.
An education and amazing experience!
Thank you!
Great completion from the first one! DG seems like one hell of a guy. Looks like you had fun also.
Just realized I'd only given a thumbs up but no comment. This cat is interesting (entertaining the least). The detailed measurements though - wow! His passion really comes through in everything.
Thank you Chris!
Oh this guy's an artist i love him
Damn, that was awesome. I love people know their craft. Thanks for making this. Can't wait to see the final product.
Thanks Dean! I can't wait either!
Once you go bespoke, you won’t go back to “off the rack”. I started with made to measure and once I had my first custom suit I was hooked.
Thank you! That’s awesome!
Awesome! Thanks for making this video!
Thank you for watching!
Wow I’m excited for you! This looks like a great experience. I need one. And this is a new kind of video for sure! 👏🏻
Thank you Duane! I can't wait to see the suit!
This is a really cool video. Love the devices he uses to measure your back incline and slopes of shoulders. Had no idea these things existed, but totally makes sense. I think I'm more excited to see the finished product than you are. Thank you for sharing and congrats!
I think you very much! I’ve never seen those tools either. I can’t wait! Thanks for watching!
What an awesome video that offered a great information. I was looking at the swatches and wondering what would I pick. He showed me what to look for when buying off the rack. PS I love to cuff my slacks to.
Thank you very much Jimmy!
Stunning. Absolutely detailed, of details. Amazing... Great share, thank you!
Thank you Brian!
Legend: love my custom suites I don’t get to SF often ( New York resident) but will book a fitting next trip
@@40OverFashion thank you sir.
Thank you very much Tommie!
Thanks Luis! Go for standard point collars with a moderate spread. Peak lapel may help with a visual "V" taper. Avoid skinny lapels.
