if you're building a contrete koi pond. do you think its a must have or you can build a koi pond without it?

There are many ways of building ponds. To waterproof a concrete pond fibreglass is definitely by far the best method for a quality long lasting finish.

I am not a fan of paint. It doesn't add anything to the strength of the pond in the way that fibreglass does.
