Trying this with a lightning connector and nothing works. Does it have to be USB-C?

Yes, it has to be USB-c, because Lightning doesn't have a video-in option.

I heard latency sucks on Switch and Xbox but good on PS5 because of the HDMI so if you use PS5 high quality HDMI on Xbox and Switch then it will have little and close to no lag or latency but if you plan to use it for PC with mouse through HDMI,then its pretty bad
