i am muslim, and while i dress modestly, i don’t wear hijab or anything unless i’m praying or going for a prayer gathering or whatver. one day i do hope to wear hijab- it’s beautiful. anyway, i’ve never once felt “oppressed” until the west told me that i should feel so. it doesn’t make sense. aren’t they being the oppressor by telling us what to wear and what not to wear? just stop telling any women what to wear. period. this goes for the west and east.

They can’t wear gold, all red, or dress like women. Women must cover everything (and cannot show figure of body) but the hands and face (depending on the opinion one follows, it might include the face), can’t wear perfume, high heels, henna/fancy headbands or pins etc., and cannot imitate men. She should also avoid speaking softly outside the house. Both genders should lower their gazes in public and cannot wear clothing that resembles the disbelievers. I hope this clears thing up for you both and for anyone else that might come across this.
